Tori - let us know if the ball helps. I have one lurking in the garage that may get put to better use if it helps back pain, Tec.

JennyOfOldstones · 08/02/2015 21:15

The physio who ran my antenatal class recommended the ball so I might get one. My usual lounging around and terrible posture is not working out well for me now I am getting bigger! Lots of little niggly pains.

AnythingNotEverything · 08/02/2015 22:08

I'm really tempted to get my ball out but I just know DD (15 months) will have a field day with it ... Not sure I can cope with that just yet.

TheDetective · 08/02/2015 22:12

I still don't feel pregnant at all. I have a bit of a bump now. But other than feeling little bump jiggle about and kick my vagina I just don't feel any different.

I feel completely disorganised too. Although I have all the things I need to do in my head and on paper I just can't get the motivation to do them. I'm just living day to day right now.

Things are really bad with ex twat right now. Which I suppose doesn't help.

All I really want is a chuffing great big cuddle :(

TheDetective · 08/02/2015 22:13

I put my ball in the shed and it died! I'll get a new one around 34 weeks I think.

I think I'm going to go and shake my bump around the living room to some music. It's awake! It might make me feel happier?!

croon979 · 08/02/2015 22:14

Hello all! Haven't posted for a while on here. Although I am following and I have posted a couple of times on FB group.

I am getting excited as going to liverpool next weekend for baby and toddler show and also to stock up on baby stuff from superstores that we don't have in IOM! Last trip away probably before baby arrives which is scary!

Also going to get a bouncy ball to sit on in hope it will help PGP.

I am turning my attention to bouncers/rockers/swings - so much choice! Any recommendations?

Thelovecats · 08/02/2015 22:36

Croon be careful of gym balls if you're getting pelvic pain. Anything that opens the legs/uses squatting type movements will make it worse. Just something to be aware of.

Detective dancing sounds good :)

TheDetective · 08/02/2015 22:37

I've got the baby bjorn bouncer this time after using one last time for a week and thinking it was awesome. :)

I've just got a cheap small swing, which I'll use again, think it was the Bright Starts one from Asda. Both DS's didn't like or use them til around 3 months. So I'll see what this one thinks!

I'll get a playmat too as the last one broke. I've got my eye on a few on eBay. We used the play mat quite a lot from a couple of days old. He was batting the toys at 5 days old. It gave me 10 minutes for a wee anyway!

I recommend getting those kind of things second hand if you can as they don't get much use. The only thing out of that I bought new was the swing, and that is because it was on offer and was about the same price as a second hand larger type of one!

TheDetective · 08/02/2015 22:39

Me and bump had a good old dance to Billy Joel. Ex twat would think that made me weird. He never liked much music.

I love music. So nerrrrrrrrrr!

I can do whatever I like ALL evening long! Grin

I think my hormones might be playing havoc with me at the moment. Shock

Sorry!

croon979 · 08/02/2015 22:40

Oh, thanks Lovecats, didn't realise, maybe I will give the ball a miss then.

Thanks Detective, have heard good things about baby Bjorne bouncers. Definitely also going to get a play mat/gym. I could always hold off on swing until later and see if bouncer will be a hit. Hmmmm.

jazzyjenbo · 08/02/2015 22:41

Yay to all these little music loving babies! Mine goes mad when my kids are around and can sense when they are close i'm sure.... I can see some movement from the outside now aswell.

Yay to the baby show! Mite see when its in manchester. Anyone local know/want to meet up and enjoy abit of baby shopping?

Re swings- i have 2 different 'jungle' theme ones by fisherprice, 1 here 1 at parents. My babies loved them. But my fav thing was playmat/gym... Again we had the rainforest jungle one, its about £45 but fantastic with lights and sounds etc

bubba2012 · 08/02/2015 22:43

I might be up for that! I don't need much, but I want much haha!

My list of things to still get are: Car seat base, sling, playmat, box for sterilising, summer clothing for baby, maternity clothes/pjs etc. Then I need to decide if I want a bednest or some such. I have a moses basket, so I'll use that if I decide not to go for one.

My main thing is redecorating my room, getting a double rather than a king sized bed, and making the wardrobe in to a double rather than a quadrouple. I need to make room for a cot when baby is bigger, so may as well do the whole thing.

I just can't pick wall colour/bedding. So I'm not getting anywhere with it!

I'm pretty sure I'm done at work now. Off this week on holiday. I'll make a decision by friday. Need to see GP that day to be signed off if I'm definitely doing it.

I'm exhausted emotionally, and need some head space. If I could drop my hours now that would probably be the perfect compromise. But I can't. So we shall see.

Got lots to keep me busy this week. DS2 starts nursery tomorrow. I'm so excited for him. I think he will love it. He's turning in to such a lovely little boy. I'm so proud of him at the moment after him being such a worry to me for so long. He kissed my bump yesterday and today, when I told him that was where the baby was. I know lots of kids do this, but I was sure he didn't really understand when I told him about the baby coming. I think he has a little understanding, well, more than I gave him credit for! (His understanding and language has been delayed, he's probably a few months behind his peers - he's 2 yrs 2 months). He idolises his big brother. I hope he loves his little brother as much! Eeeek!

Thelovecats · 08/02/2015 22:57

You can use one croon, just have to be more aware of your position and not having your legs too far apart. Getting one the correct height even more important too. PGP sucks! youtube has quite a few videos on how to move without putting extra strain on the pelvis.
Any more playmat recommendations welcome- I gave mine away after DD!

Thelovecats · 08/02/2015 22:59

Tori sorry to hear you're in pain with hips too :(

TheDetective · 08/02/2015 22:59

I've been eyeing up the mamas and papas stargazer one, on ebay. Not found one under £30 yet. That's my limit! Grin

Newgirl33 · 08/02/2015 23:29

I picked up this playmat earlier today:

www.elc.co.uk/Bright-Starts-Deluxe-Baby%27s-Playplace/140654,default,pd.html

No idea if it's any good but it's nice and bright and seems to have many functions.

My OH felt the baby move for the first time today. I think it's made his day!! :)

Chookford · 09/02/2015 11:07

Morning ladies

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering with painful hips... its not nice! Birthing balls are ok as love said you just need to make sure you sit on them correctly! I had one with dd and used it alot towards the end and whilst I was in labour it did help me!

Detective sorry to hear you are feeling a bit low at the moment, and that prick is making things worse! But hooray for dancing around like a loon to Billy Joel! (ps what kind of man doesnt like music??!) sure your ds will have a blast at nursery tomorrow.. he sounds like a little sweetie!

bubba congrats and welcome!

kaybug · 09/02/2015 17:37

omg was just coming on here for a rant about my hips and it seems some of you got here first! Through the day is fine but they hurt so much through the night from sleeping on my side Sad Anyone got any suggestions how to sleep comfortably? I want to sleep on my back but heard it's bad for baby Sad What are the rest of you doing to get comfy? im only 22 n a half weeks - surely it shouldn't be like this yet?!

Sorry you are suffering with your hips, pillow between the knees is the only tip I have.

Sleeping on your back is not bad for baby I dont think, but bad for you as the baby then lies on a very important artery or something which can make out faint/dizzy. I really wouldn't worry though, I used to wake up on my back all the time!

Although it's the hardest position to get up from when you are massive!! :)

kaybug · 09/02/2015 18:07

Tori, that's what I've been doing too, just never manage any more than a few hours between needing to turn ' so frustrating!
I'm sure I read somewhere that the vein/artery whatever it is is carrying goodness to baby so if you sleep on your back it's bad for baby as the weight makes it harder for the blood to flow? Could be wrong? Not had any dizziness when I've woken on my back after rolling over by accident so maybe I'm not big enough to cause any damage yet..

So tiring trying to stick to all of the do's and dont's of pregnancy!

htf2 · 09/02/2015 18:27

Looking up sleeping on my back, it doesn't sound so bad actually - says you will notice if you get faint ie if baby is squashing the main artery! I am pretty happy to feel ok being on my back again, have really been wanting to! And on my front but I am a bit past that, I would feel completely like I am going to squash the baby... I do sort of prop myself up on one side with a pillow so I'm kind of on my front but with space for the bump.

Tired of work! Only a few weeks till holiday and I know I can do it...
