The only thing i can suggest is to buy a v pillow and try to get used to sleeping on you back but slightly more in a sitting position. I had very sore hips last time later on and found this overall the most comfy position... Also easier to get up in the morning/or for a wee and stopped hip pressure points.

Hows everyone weight gain going? I'm on the bigger side (size 14) and was 80kg (bmi 30) at booking. Just weighed myself now 24 weeks and 85kg. Dont think i'm doing to badlyWink

JennyOfOldstones · 09/02/2015 18:42

I am sleeping with a duvet underneath which helps my hip pain. I also wake up on my back sometimes and the physio at my antenatal class said if you did restrict your blood flow you would get dizzy and wake up so not to worry!

jazzy I was 70kg at booking in and now 73kg but I do have a good sized bump so surprised I ve not put on more.

Finally got to 20 week scan (21weeks in reality), in some ways the last 21 weeks have gone fast but in other ways it seems to have gone slowly. We are really looking forward to seeing the baby again, despite it only being 5 weeks since our private scan.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 09/02/2015 19:20

Well, managed to completely black out tonight (eyes wide open, pupils dilated, unresponsive) which seems to have worried hubs who is demanding I make an appt with the doctor. I'm undecided. I've had fainting issues for years, granted, this is the first one where I've been open eyed. I think it's just Pregnany stuff and the fact I was red hot. Considering I've had all the tests before and they found nothing (twice) I'm loathed to go back and will just keep an eye on it and mention to midwife next week.

I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks. Will be interested to see at the weekend. Sad

Interesting advice 're pillow and sleeping position. My pillow can be shaped to a V so I'll bear it in mind.

Elizabeth - I think it's always nice to see your baby, private scan or not. Smile

Alisvolatpropiis · 09/02/2015 19:32

Oh gosh, trying that's a bit scary! Are you feeling alright now?

I used to faint all the time when I was younger but haven't since my weight has been more regular.

I would go to the doctors though, I know you don't want to but eyes open and unresponsive sounds a bit more serious than the average fainting episode (though of course it might well be perfectly average!).

AnythingNotEverything · 09/02/2015 19:46

Shit. I've gained 6 kilos. That's almost a stone. Shit.

I suspect a lot of it is due to going back to work. I walked a lot with the pram before but now I drive an hour each way to work and sit at a desk (eating) all day. Oh, that and my sweet tooth Wink

Bugger. I'm hungry all the time now and was the same while bf - no magical dropping off weight for me Confused

AnythingNotEverything · 09/02/2015 19:58

And Trying I'd seek help too. That sounds nasty.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 09/02/2015 19:58

alis other than a banging headache and tiredness, I feel normal. I'll ring the docs in the morning and see how long to get an appointment. Just to be on the safe side.

htf2 · 09/02/2015 20:20

anything that sounds pretty normal to me unless the stats are all wrong! I have had the link below up pretty constantly until recently (as I was one of the sick ones who lost a lot of weight) and it says average weight gain, for my input stats anyway, at this point is about 8 kg... below average level is still 6kg.

www.baby2see.com/pregnancy_weight_calculator.html
Wish I hadn't checked actually, I was just starting to feel better about it all as I have actually put on some weight finally and am up 2kg.

I weigh 8lbs more than pre pregnancy, but all of that has gone on since 15 weeks (now 21.5 weeks) as I had lost weight before that. Was BMI 23.5 before I think. I never weighed myself at all with first 2 kids as I didn't own scales, and I don't think it was a bad thing. It's not good to be too concerned with weight gain in pregnancy. Having said that, it does remind me sometimes to eat nutritious food and not just biscuits. Made peanut butter cookies today- mmm!

AnythingNotEverything · 09/02/2015 21:05

Now I want peanut butter cookies ...

Thanks for the reassurance though. Extensive googling says the same thing. Apparently average is 2-4lbs in the first trimester, and 1lb a week from then on.

Sunbathing have you mentioned the itching to your midwife? I think it can be a sign of something serious (not to panic you at all!). Am I thinking of obstetric cholestasis?! Is that a thing? Hope it's just dry skin though. Aveeno is meant to be the bomb for that

Alisvolatpropiis · 09/02/2015 21:09

I have no idea how much weight I've put on. I'm not eating dramatically differently and don't seem to have put much on but I used to be funny with food so not weighing myself. For me, madness lies with weighing myself regularly.

Kyz · 09/02/2015 21:16

Evening all

Thanks for the help re: Uppababy 2015. I'm such an arse Blush I just assumed it wasn't available here in that colour or something! I did find it at John Lewis but had terrible pregnancy rage when I couldn't find it in a package with the maxi cosi pebble carseat. When I relayed said awful anger and problems to DP he said 'can we not just buy it separately?' to which i replied THATISNOTTHEFUCKINGPOINT!!!! and then proceeded to sob into his t-shirt Blush shoot me now!

hugs alis hope you're feeling a bit better now?

pas yay for car buying!!

Went into the loft over the weekend and got a couple of bags of DS's baby things out. He was a november baby so most of it is going to be completely useless but i'm sure some of it will be ok. However the whole thing was much more emotional than I thought it would be, and I ended up crying over tiny socks and mini hats, and reminiscing over what we did the day he wore this, that and the other. Gosh. Seems i'm emotionally broken at the moment judging by what i've written so far!

I haven't bought any maternity things. I just got some leggings a good few sizes bigger than I am, and some pretty roomy tops and jumpers! I could really really do with some better fitting bras though!

also not able to fit in large meals either :( I don't have time to eat little and often though and am finding myself turning towards rubbish, which I don't want to do!

Argh, i've gotten to page 21 and now I have to take the dog out. I'll be back tomorrow!

Emz1989 · 09/02/2015 21:24

Scan tomorrow! Grin
Also being weighed tomorrow - oh shit! I have chosen to avoid the scales since last scan at 11+3... Could be interesting!!

kaybug · 09/02/2015 21:26

thanks for the sleeping tips! Gonna stop feeling so guilty when I wake up on my back Smile I'm still about 3lbs less than I was at my booking appointment but have put 6lbs back on over the last 3 weeks and my belly is looking huge so baby must be growing ok! Trying not to worry too much about weight although I may regret that later Confused

htf2 · 09/02/2015 21:27

I don't recommend next bras. I bought a few with my maternity work pants (which I'm wearing for the first time today and OMG THEY ARE GREAT THANKS GUYS FOR THE RECOMMENDATION!) but for some reason I also bought some bras my regular size (pretty much my current size) -it seemed really smart and planning ahead at the time although of course I have lots of bras my regular size nad it was completely mindless, and they are a bit of a funny shape , narrow fitting across the front. Won't buy again.

Hope you're ok trying.

Good luck for tomorrow emz.

I have no idea how much I've put on. I thoroughly recommend not weighing yourself. I haven't weighed myself since before TTC DD over two years ago and I feel so much better for it. I used to weigh myself regularly and now I just go by my clothes. My trousers from last time are still fitting fine so I'm not worried. I was only weighed at my 12 week scan both times and I didn't look at what I weighed. Last time they also weighed me just before my section so I imagine that'll be the next time I'm weighed this time too.

Smugnogplease · 09/02/2015 22:55

Hi for anyone with aching hips, I've already mentioned this on FB too sorry, but buying a dorma memory fo topper for my old mattress has been life changing! I turn over about half as many times now and sleep much better( still using a pillow between news though). We got ours from dunelm.

Tranquilitybaby · 10/02/2015 07:09

Ive got a Dream genii body pillow that I'm finding has helped me sleep much better and no hip pain anymore.

Junebug15 · 10/02/2015 08:17

Hi Everyone,

Haven't posted in an age but have read every single post - and now feel slightly stalker-ish!
I was planning on picking up a 'V' pillow from Argos today at £19.99.
Does anyone have any recommendations for one they already own?

I'm getting to the stage where I'd quite like to meet with local mums to be, but not having Facebook seems to put me at a bit of a disadvantage.
Does anyone know of any topics or posts on Mumsnet that are by area?
To be specific I'm in High Wycombe / Amersham area, but I only seem to be able to find Milton Keynes.

Ah and to make anyone feel better - I too have put on about 1 stone since my booking in appointment! I'm going to bear it in mind when munching through bags of chocolate peanuts and such, but otherwise think I'll steer clear of the scales from now on in. Smile

Junebug15 · 10/02/2015 08:19

Doh!
Don't think I'd refreshed my page.
I'll check out the Dream Genii Tranquil

htf2 · 10/02/2015 08:26

Junebug about a stone sounds about right and nothing to feel bad about, if you look at the weight gain stats I put up earlier, unless I happen to have stumbled on some really kooky numbers. It may be that only those of us on the low end have put actual numbers up here... Maybe if you feel you've put on a bit you might feel bad about it but not worried about the baby but if you've hardly put on any you're more likely to be a bit worried for the baby and hence ask/ share? Just thinking aloud really...

I am also reading to see what people think of the v-shape pillows! I am leaning towards them for 1.sitting up breastfeeding 2. keeping it out for sitting up reading etc as a normal pillow rather than a baby only pillow that you then have to pack off into a cupboard given our very limited storage space....
