Hm in the car sitting after unhealthy lunch. Doing 18.30-00.00 shift and unsure what to do between now and then. Supposed to be at training but morning work ran late and then traffic was awful so I pretty much missed it. Maybe should go back to work and do paperwork.

A little perturbed by odd contractions today which make me breathe with pursed lips like a weirdo and feel I need to hold my tummy and I might poo (which I don't do! Grin ) They aren't very painful but really take my breath. Having a few now. Might go for a little walk... Danger is I am next to Mamas and Papas! Paying for my lunch in reflux now so serves me right...

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 29/01/2015 15:26

ok, now I don't want it, daholster ! LOL

window-shopping and browsing doesn't cost, go in to Mamas & Papas and look! (then think "cheaper in sainsbury's/tesco/asda/morrisson's/online" and leave)

If they become regular contractions, go and get checked!

FiRaffe · 29/01/2015 15:27

Don't talk to me about food....I seem to be able to eat a horse and still not feel full. It's taking all my will power not to eat the rest of the packet of emergency chocolate digestives right now.... i'll have my apple instead

first timer here.... what the hell is a centile? :s and what's the obsession :/

Daholster i'm pretty hungry now, and it's only started this week (was 29 weeks on Monday). still getting nausea and vomiting so i tend to make up for my lack of mornign eating during the day lol. Sadly no fruit included unlike you ewby!
so far i've had, slice of toast (because iron tablets means no brew and cereal in a morning), Snickers, Cheese and onion French Fries, Chicken and fries from Morrisons, Dairy milk, and now i'm going to have my chocolate special K bar :) (maybe followed by my woucester sauce french fries lol)

Chicco Next2Me ordered today :D, oh and also baby monitor, might give it a trial run when it arrives to watch the dog sleep ;) haha

I think DH will take annual leave later too and split them up through the year. He was on about booking Derren Brown tickets for my birthday in June. Seems oblivious to the fact we will have a 7-9week old baby that will need feeding and caring for!!! He had good intentions though I suppose. I just suggested maybe we wait and see if dates are announced for nearer to us, or maybe just buy me the DVD or watch it on Chanel 4 a year later when it's released lol

Hidingthefear · 29/01/2015 15:33

omg, so many posts appeared jst while I was typing mine haha

Yay "squatting" a fellow milkshake dipper! has to be chocolate shake for me though :)

TheBooMonster · 29/01/2015 15:35

chicken I put the papoozle on when it got here earlier, it seems fairly straight forward, much easier to get to grips with than the moby wrap I've got anyhow! I can get DD's cuddly toys in and out of it even with her screaming blue murder and trying to wrench them out :P I almost tried with DD but decided better of it given that I'm fairly sure she's bigger than the weight limit...

TinyTear · 29/01/2015 15:38

hiding when the baby is born you will be given THE red book, a book where you are going to note all the baby's weights, measurements, vaccines and so on...

There you will have growth charts, where they plot the baby's weight... the centiles are the line where the baby is (for example a baby on the 9th centile like my daugter means than out of 100 babies, 9 are smaller/lighter than her and 89 are bigger..)

laws of averages and so on... some people and babies are bigger or smaller than others...

Health Visitors are obcessed with having EVERYONE on the 50th which DOES NOT make sense!!! (can you see I was traumatised)
My DD was on the 9th and it is as if the line was drawn for her, she follows it perfectly...
And if i had bowed to their pressure and supplemented she could have put on weight, but that would have led (in my opinion) to problems in later life as I would have force fed her in infancy...

And this is also because I found out my mum was given injections to stop the milk and swapped me to formula because i wasn't 'putting enough weight' according to what they wanted 40 years ago... and I am a fat adult and have been a fat teen and have had issues with food - so don't know if this is related... when it seems i was perfectly fine, but some doctor's idea of perfection was a chubby baby...

Ahem, better calm down...

Siarie · 29/01/2015 15:38

Oh man, I was going to go eat an apple then I forgot. My memory is so bad now Sad.

My new maternity clothes arrived, needed a dress for mine and DH's dinner out in Feb. So I also bought some grey skinny jeans and a coat that goes with the dressy theme.

I was expecting to be disappointed, stuff not to fit but oh my goodness it's amazing! All bought from Mamalicious, it all fits and I have long legs. Plus it's all comfy! And such a pretty dress that it doesn't feel like I'm having to compromise because it's maternity wear.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2015 16:03

A centile is basically a percent Hidingthefear, what percentage your baby is bigger or smaller than other babies. It's a growth chart that they measure babies against. It was done a while ago but it expensive to replace and they often say the bf babies have a different curve of growth than ff babies. My hv were happy with both mine following the same line rather than being a specific centile but then mine were big ds1 was born on 75th but by 4wks was on 98th and stayed that way. Ds2 was born on 98th but despite my losing weight after burger was soon on 75th centile and followed.

This is the WHO website boys chart for an idea

Bad news about the cheese Squatting. I love cheese. About to make a lovely cheese sauce for gnocchi with a massive wodge of Gorgonzola piccante and loads of Parmesan yum yum. As it's all going into the oven for twenty mins it's allowed. Hooray!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2015 17:08

If your child is on the 50th centile it means they are bigger than 50% if they are on 98th centile they are bigger than 98% of other babies measured in the study that created the chart. Those on 9th centile are only bigger than 9% so the other 91% of babies are bigger than them which is why they tend to worry. Ds1 wasn't a problem as I bf him but as soon as I started weaning I was pounced on, so hard not to worry when you're a first time mum.

Wish I had an Aldi near me - the baby event looks really good. Stupid London.

Hidingthefear · 29/01/2015 17:37

Thanks Tiny, makes sense. and now so does your previous post, because if all babies were on the 50th then it wouldn't be an average.
Thanks for the link cinnamon, I understand the chart now :)

all that talk of macdonalds made me very hungry, but i decided to behave and I came home and made pasta with chopped tomatoes, chicken, sweetcorn and peas (YAWN). Tastes ok, but it's no big mac although i had one of them yesterday hehe

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 29/01/2015 17:48

well, we're all ill now (I'm just knackered, but in no fit state to cook) so it's a pizza for tea because my fiance doesn't need to cook when he comes in from work!

Wineandchoccy · 29/01/2015 18:22

I wish I was having a McDonalds but I've had a lunch training session and because of the snow 1/2 of the delegates didn't turn up so DH and I are having soup with a marks and Spencer's sandwich platter which is supposed to feed 12! Oh and what a shame I bought cream cakes so we have those for afters but I just nipped into Spar for milk and the lady behind the till said 'looks like you only have a few weeks left?' I said 11 weeks she said you will never go to full term with that bump, I didn't know what to say, stupid woman, I have a lovely bump Grin Angry Grin

A neighbour of my mums has given my mum a bin bag of her grandchildrens old clothes some still with labels on and a new bottle warmer. It's the 1st donated things we have had and I'm stupidly excited to go and have a rummage. Mum is washing it all tonight as well so 1 less job for me to do.

BananaToast · 29/01/2015 18:27

So kind of your mum's neighbour Wine!

It's pasta for me for tea tonight, not a fan of McDonalds so no food envy here!

Lauren82000 · 29/01/2015 18:39

Chicken I tried the papoozle on DH last night and it was really easy, I watched a video on how to use it about 2 weeks ago and still managed to do it from memory. Smile

Feeling very big and very tired after shopping, plenty of BH too. DH didn't tell me to sit down till we got in and unpacked! I could of parked myself on a bench and he could of packed the shopping!

Has anyone else noticed their wee smelling a bit odd? Mine has smelt pungent all day (not a wee smell just odd) Think I've drank plenty and it's not dark or anything. Discharge smells normal so it's not that. Blush

ChickenMe · 29/01/2015 18:43

My wee has smelt odd since before the bfp Lauren It was a sign for me! It's really pungent!

Lauren82000 · 29/01/2015 18:46

Hmm well mine has smelt normal or not at all up till now, I'll keep an eye on it.

Baby just kicked me funny in the side and it really hurt like a trapped nerve type shooting pain Confused

PenguinPoser · 29/01/2015 19:00

Sounds like it had been a busy day for appointments etc! Have just read back 5 pages so can't remember all the details Blush but those who are breech don't worry still plenty of time to turn around!

Tiny rubbish that you had a bad experience with the obstetrician!
I'm a little apprehensive about my health visitor antenatal assessment next week - feel like she might think I just don't have a clue what I'm going to be doing with this baby! And that she will judge my house! Not that there's anything wrong with it in my opinion.

Was interesting reading about mortgages - we don't have to remortgage for another 2.5 years but was depressing to get mortgage statement last week and realise that 75% of what we have paid in the last year just covers the interest Hmm so the capital isn't going down as quickly as I had hoped it was! On a fixed rate though as when we took the mortgage 2.5 years ago it was uncertain if the base interest rate would go up and we didn't want to risk a variable rate which in hindsight would have been better and cheaper!

Anyway... Off to raid the freezer to see what we have to eat... Would rather go to McDonalds now...

ChickenMe · 29/01/2015 19:06

Thanks for tips re Papoozle. So much money has been spent it seems wise to take advantage of such a bargain. Lol at you putting your DD's toys in it and her being indignant Boo. I'm going to try it out on the cat if I get it because when she is tired, she is vulnerable and allows herself to be cradled like a baby.

kismac · 29/01/2015 19:09

Whooping cough jab today so I bought apple pie cause Im brave. He he.
