It's useful to know about %iles, cinnamon et al, thanks for explaining. I don't like the tactics they tried with your DC Tiny-I think they count on people being ignorant. We are lucky to have more information in this day and age and to be forearmed. It's only cos my Mum was a MW and had experience of babies that she was confident enough to reject their formula suggestions. My OH thinks I'm always on the attack but he trusts HCPs implicitly-I do not. Some of them have agendas or simply don't question conventional wisdom.
There is a thing called timeline of a breastfed baby.

lauren have you been eating an unusually large amount of anything? Asparagus for example makes wee smell eurgh!

Lauren82000 · 29/01/2015 19:36

No can't say I have boo, I'm going to ring the doctors in the morning and hopefully get on the ring back list for some advice. (Bit TMI but it's a bit fishyBlush, like I said before discharge smells normal it's just my wee) thinking it might be a UTI without the burning wee. Confused I did have traces of protein in my wee when the mw checked it yesterday, she wasn't bothered but now it has a smell I'm thinking that's not good. Only thing that was different about yesterday was the whooping cough jab. Hilarious if that's what caused it.

TheBooMonster · 29/01/2015 19:43

oh, yea, lauren if you had proteins I would definitely contact the doctors!

AnniaFausta · 29/01/2015 19:46

Banana, great news about going midwife led!

On movements, I was having a one-on-one this afternoon and had to keep looking off into the middle distance as baby had a kick-about... really distracting!! Just glad it's not happened when I've been standing in front of a group yet.

daholster, I'm not quite turning into the cookie monster, but I am finding that I now have to graze quite regularly, or else I actually start either being ratty/depressed or getting a headache. Neither of which is good!

With the centile stuff, I seem to remember hearing that the babies looked at in that study were American bottle-fed babies, so if you're a) not bottle feeding exclusively and b) not using American formula, there's a legitimate question about how useful that sort data is for tracking UK BF or mixed-fed babies...

Lauren, yep, sounding like a doctor call would be a good idea.

smogsville · 29/01/2015 19:48

Lauren in pregnancy you can have UTIs (such as cystitis) but without the pain. So yes call the mw get it checked out.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2015 19:49

How rude Wineandchoccy!!!!! Babysitting this evening and the dad told me I was a lovely shape Blush better than being told I'm huge though, makes me think of the phrase 'if you don't have anything nice to say.....'

I LOVE McDonald's! Could eat it every day, at least for a while. Although since being pregnant the burgers appeal more than fries, I'm usually all about carbs!

We is normal smelling too, hope it's not an infection Lauren82000.

ChickenMe · 29/01/2015 19:53

Yeah get it checked out Lauren. Maybe I just stink! I'm always eating garlic and spicy food.

FiRaffe · 29/01/2015 19:54

Argh food....got home from brownies to the smell of fajitas cooking and DH running around asking where the hell i'd put the tortillas. ....so turns out he didn't put it on the shopping list so we didn't buy any. Fish and chips for tea then, pfft

Lauren82000 · 29/01/2015 19:57

Thanks ladies definitely ring them tomorrow now.

I'm so proud of myself I've started knitting Smile so far I've cast on 27 stitches only another 19 to go before I can start doing some rows. I'm trying to knit the baby a cardigan. (Trying being the operative word there.) Wink

TheBooMonster · 29/01/2015 20:20

ladies, I've just checked my growth cart in my hand held notes agains the growth chart in the red book, and I'm suspicious, what does everyone else have for the minimum and maximum weights at 42 weeks on their charts? Midwife said that 'they' seemed to think I was capable of having a huge baby, but the measurements are the 9th and 91st centile on the red books chart at 2 week which doesn't seem like it was actually catered to me, more like it's the generic sizing...

Heyitsholly · 29/01/2015 20:37

Has anyone had a pregnancy massage? Really tempted to book one for sat as I ache? Is it a good idea?

PenguinPoser · 29/01/2015 21:04

Lauren maybe see if you can get a wee sample to the doctors tomorrow too, because if they 'dip' it and there are signs of infection they can give you a prescription for something before the weekend. Impressed by your knitting you've got further than I would (never did understand how to cast on!).

I think the red books definitely have generic size charts Boo I don't have my red book yet but charts in pregnancy notes are definitely generic.

Ended up looking in the freezer and doing the whole "there's nothing I want to eat why do we have no food" thing and ordering a pizza - oops. Must be good tomorrow Blush

Siarie · 29/01/2015 21:18

heyitsholly yes I've had two, both while I as away in Antigua. They were great, the lady who did mine just had me turn on my side with a pillow so she could do my back and legs etc (was a full body massage). Some places have special pregnancy tables with a hole in for your bump.

smogsville · 29/01/2015 21:19

Boo I'm crap at charts my mind just goes blank. Sorry that's so unhelpful.

Holly - I haven't but my friend whose second is now three months old used to swear by them. If i get around to it I'll defo be booking one.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/01/2015 21:20

The chart in my notes are definitely based on my Previous pregnancies/births TheBooMonster and PenguinPoser, will have a look when home as I'm out babysitting at the moment. Red books are generic though.

OP posts:
TheBooMonster · 29/01/2015 21:31

yes the red books defiantly generic, it just made me suspicious that my supposedly unique growth chart in my notes was the same as the red book one.

I've set everyone in the Facebook group to admin so everyone in the group can add people to the group.

Lauren82000 · 29/01/2015 21:33

Penguin I've not done that good as I've picked up an extra stitch along the way twice now. The first time I managed to work it back, this time I have no idea where it's come from. Have to take it to work tomorrow and see if my friend can fix it. Managed 4 rows but it's all wobbly and a bit lumpy. Hope she doesn't just tell me to start again it took me 40 mins to do that much! Smile

BananaToast · 29/01/2015 21:51

Think I'm going to invest in some knitting needles and wool at the weekend and attempt a blanket. I did knit a little bit when I was much younger (9 or 10) but not for long and nothing advanced. Hopefully YouTube will teach me all I need to know!

Heyitsholly · 29/01/2015 22:08

Thanks siarie and smogs you've convinced me. I'll let you know how it goes Grin
Where's everyone been getting their raspberry leaf tea? I'm struggling to find it!

BananaToast · 29/01/2015 22:21

I got mine from Holland and Barrett.

ChickenMe · 29/01/2015 22:33

Is it safe to dye hair yet? Sick of my rats tails.
Ps had McDonalds thanks to this thread and the Bacon Nutella one.

TheBooMonster · 29/01/2015 23:08

Yes it is chicken I only stopped for the first trimester as that's what the nhs website advised. Just beware colour might turn out a bit more intense if your hairdos dryer than normal.

PenguinPoser · 29/01/2015 23:31

Thanks cinnamon guess mine in notes are generic as it's my first baby so nothing to compare to. Now that I think about it I have heard of personalised growth charts depending on parents height etc as well. Must vary between areas Smile

smogsville · 30/01/2015 07:00

Squidge - you can have a good night's sleep with the preg pillow.

Assuming yours is like mine (too long 'legs' of pillow in a u shape - rearrange it in your bed so the front 'leg' that's going in front of you - the one you're going to rest your legs on - is longer rather than equal lengths. Pull it into you and then wrap your feet either side of it at the bottom and get your DH/DP to shove the shorter piece into your back.

I've haven't explained this very well but google pregnancy pillow for some images (I can't seem to make the links work) and you'll find some pics that show what I mean. Best night's sleep and first no back ache in weeks. I'm only up so early because we were fast asleep before 10.
