Fi I'm a first timer so only guessing at what I think are Braxton Hicks but for me they aren't uncomfortable as such, just a tightening across my belly - from either side across where my belly button is. At first I thought it was baby changing position and pushing against my belly but the feeling always subsides after a short while. I tend to get them more when I'm walking fast or being quite active which seems to fit with BH as well.

Heyitsholly · 27/01/2015 17:46

Had my growth scan today and nearly passed out on the table flat on my back. The scan lady said it happens as the baby would have been cutting off my blood supply. Either way I was very embarrassed. And then they said baby is on the small end but with a larger than average head. Noone wants a giant baby head to push out!!
Then I went to the renal midwife clinic ( for my high blood pressure) who said its now too low. Oh the irony. So now even more comm midwife appointments and 5 hours when I was meant to be at work in hospital. #sigh

FiRaffe · 27/01/2015 17:48

Oh Holly - hope you're feeling better now.

Thanks Banana - that sounds like what I was feeling, so hopefully it's that or baby is trying to push it's bum/head/back out and stretch too much!

Lauren82000 · 27/01/2015 17:54

Fi my BH tend to start in one area and spread across the whole bump for less than a minute. Usually get 2 or 3 in succession. Longest I've had is it going on for over an hour. Mw wasn't bothered when I told her. They can get uncomfortable if you have quite a few.

PenguinPoser · 27/01/2015 18:29

Boo how annoying why on earth does it matter to them what you and DH spend your money on! Doesn't sound like you're being particularly frivolous but even if you were it's your decision. I would be irate!

Smogs hope your DD is ok, sure she will be if she's otherwise fine in herself. And cinnamon I know you do know this but there's absolutely no way you could have caused the kidney problem by anything you did or didn't do. I think to normal to feel/think that way though.

Sounds like your day was a bit annoying heyitsholly - do you have any follow up growth scans booked in? Hope you're feeling ok now.

Just been to the cinema and baby felt like it was trying to break out at times - stretching all over bum and feet poking out and headbutting my bladder!

BrixtonBunny · 27/01/2015 18:37

Just spoke to solicitor - don't want to get hopes up but we MIGHT finally be in a position to exchange next week (with an eye to completing the week after potentially). Please everyone keep everything crossed for us.. Shock

BananaToast · 27/01/2015 18:39

Exciting Brixton! Fingers crossed for you. Are you buying locally or will it mean an area move? Is there lots to be done when you move in? Questions questions, I love house stuff.

BananaToast · 27/01/2015 18:40

Exciting Brixton! Fingers crossed for you. Are you moving locally or will it be an area change? Is there much to do to the house when you move in? Questions questions, love house stuff!

Hidingthefear · 27/01/2015 18:41

Yeah that's her chicken she was a pain when we got married last year, made a big deal of telling everyone how we were "dragging them abroad". Didn't have to come, half hoped she wouldnt and once married we ended up with same initial and last name which she loved telling EVERYONE!

Yea boo it was me.will have a Google. Might be a good idea for using when at home.

Got Vertabaudet catalogue when I got home, could be an expensive evening on the laptop haha. Got some vouchers for £15 off orders over £29 and free delivery so I've added the picture if anyone wants to use them. Says it's for new customers but if you use a different email address you can register as a new customer Wink
no limit so anyone who wants to use them just enter the code. Thought I'd share.

Picked my iron tablets up,might wait till tomorrow to start Hmm 240mg tablets 1 3 times a day. Not sure how I'm even going to remember!! Always used to forget my pill when I was on that too

Oh for gods sake - posted once and phone closed the page and it didn't seem to have gone through. Now I've posted two almost but not quite identical messages Blush

FiRaffe · 27/01/2015 18:44

Ooh fingers crossed Brixton!

BrixtonBunny · 27/01/2015 19:04

Banana sadly we can't afford to buy anywhere big enough in Brixton (though I love where we live now so much, right by Brockwell Park), so we're moving further south to near Norbury station. So not too far from Brixton, and close to Streatham Common for a bit of greenery, but it's definitely a compromise. Still, it means a garden and three bedrooms, so long term it makes sense. Even though it makes me feel very old and boring!

It does need quite a bit of work before we move in though - new electrics, boiler, carpet ripped out upstairs, wallpaper off and walls painted, new bath and loo, kitchen sorted a bit, possibly a hatch put in between kitchen and dining room (its currently just a little galley kitchen which we hate), and some old gas fires (!!!!) removed as we're no longer living in the eighties.

Some stuff can wait but want to get as much as poss sorted before we move in - wildly optimistic Grin Hence desperate to get keys ASAP xx

Hi all

A couple of days off the thread while waiting for the leak in the water pipe under my driveway to be fixed (fuller moan is on the facebook page, can't be arsed to go into it all over again now) and I can't tell you how long it's taken me to read through the thread to catch up! Do you know we've had this thread a week and we're already over half way?!

Nothing of much interest to add, other than: went to midwife appointment today and she told me to buy some proper maternity knickers to support the bump as I am carrying very low and the bigger and heavier baby gets the lower my bump will and I don't want to be left with horrible saggy belly. Apparently caused by combination of having 2 children in close succession and also having a c-section.

Thought I'd share in case anyone else has a similarly droopy bump, I am off to hunt for some in primark tomorrow!

In the meantime I wrapped my bump using my stretchy wrap, pics are on the facebook group.

Hello to newbies, if either of you want to join the facebook group, just let one of us know as it's a secret group on facebook and you have to be added.

(I'm not sure how, so I've left all the adding to other thread members so far, so if someone explains to me in v simple terms how to do it, I'm happy to add too. Grin

In other news I'm permanently starving, so off to grab a bowl of coco pops Grin

smogsville · 27/01/2015 19:49

Thanks FiRaffe and Penguin!

Brixton keeping it all crossed for you. Advantage of somewhere in a shocking state is you feel no compunction about ripping it all out whereas when it's decent quality but not quite to your taste it always feels a bit wrong to tear it all out and start again.

BonjourMinou · 27/01/2015 19:50

Ooh hiding has just reminded me I wanted to settle down with my vertbaudet catalogue too!

I am very uncomfortable on the couch, think I'm going to take myself up to bed and stick something on iplayer to keep me occupied.

Mw tomorrow and WC jab. Hope I can squeeze a decent amount of wee out this time for my sample. It was pitiful last time and had a trace of protein Blush (think that was because I was scrapping the barrel so to speak)

BananaToast · 27/01/2015 20:55

That all sounds exciting Brixton, I understand you want to get cracking though! I'm always amazed at how quickly these things can be done though so sure you will get through it all in time. The wait to exchange is torturous though.

I've got my midwife appointment and WC on Thursday - not sure how much point there is to the appointment as the consultant checked BP, urine etc on Monday but always happy to have another listen in to baby.

I won a Close Caboo on eBay tonight Smile £32 - not bad! Looking forward to having a play with it when it arrives.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/01/2015 21:28

Oooo exciting BrixtonBunny!

The low bp will probably explain nearly fainting Heyitsholly. Are they medicating your high bp and the dose is just too high?

Thanks all for comments on baby, consultant did say it's nothing Ive done but you can't help wonder. I'm mostly fine about it now buyin d struggle to begin with.

Omg just looked in mirror getting changed my bump is massive all of a sudden. How is it possible that I'm going to be preg for more than another ten weeks. Will it plateau off? Perhaps I was this big last time around - I just don't remember!

Rustyzilla · 27/01/2015 22:00

Still need to catch up but just wanted to butt in and say thank you for all the advice and support up thread, really appreciate it!

Now to read back the last 10+ pages...! Grin

FiRaffe · 27/01/2015 22:03

Smogs - I know what you mean (although my first time). I don't think i'm that big but I feel huge compared to pre-pregnancy! Still bloody ages to go though!!!

smogsville · 27/01/2015 22:33

FiRaffe - I ate some pear and choc tart with extra thick jersey cream to cheer myself up. Going to have to be winched into hospital at this rate.

TheBooMonster · 27/01/2015 22:34

the problem is MiLand FiL are generally quite enthusiastic to help us out financially, and we've had opportunities as a result that we wouldn't have otherwise had, so it's sort of implied that they do get a say on our financial decissions, because they've put us in a position to be able to make said decisions, even when those decisions don't involve their money. There's also a few big projects in the house that they think we should do, that we've said we can't afford to do (that £150 in total on the new things I want for the baby general health and wellbeing wouldn't make a difference to, saving that £150 doesn't really make us any closer to being able to afford said projects)

I've contacted the manufacturers for the pump we have from DD to ask if they think we should buy a new pump (with heavily indicated but not said "from you guys") in the hope that they get back to us and say yes, whether that's because they genuinely feel it's safer for the baby or because they can see the £££ signs makes no difference to me so long as I get the end result of yes, so have my fingers crossed on that.

yikes holly giant baby heads don't sound comfy, if baby is a bit small will they be doing another growth scan?

that's fab news brixton fx for you!

Just a reminder if people PM their details I can add them to the fb groups (might even be able to do it with an email address but not tested that yet)

Bump was having a lazy day today, just as I started to panic this evening before going out she started having a bloody rave, and she's been plenty active since, so I'm going to assume everything's fine but keep a really close eye over the next few days and contact the midwife if I go more than about 12- 24 hours without feeling anything or enough between now and the weekend...

BrixtonBunny · 27/01/2015 22:42

I ate loads of cherry pie this evening. It's all good smogs. Wink
