Fab that we are starting to get to the 20 week mark... Good luck with the scans this week! I'm only 16+3 so feels like an eternity until my scan on Feb 10th!

traceybaybee · 11/01/2015 10:20

Is it normal to have stomach pain at just shy of 19 weeks? Had it all night and its making me feel sick Sad

bubalou · 11/01/2015 11:12

Ahh Tracey Hmm

I've had some noughts of pain and I'm 19+6.

I think you know your body and it's hard not to panic with pain but a lot of it is down to your internal organs moving out the way, things stretching etc to make room for baby.

Hope it eases for you. Smile

bubalou · 11/01/2015 11:13

Bloody phone - bouts of pain not noughts of pain! Confused

htf2 · 11/01/2015 11:13

I hope I get told the gender at my 20 week scan on Wednesday, hadn't occurred to me that they might not! Isn't it strange how everywhere shops and magazines and our whole culture is sooo pink and blue but when you talk to people your average woman is pretty sensible about it and a lot are like all the people on this thread who are pretty vocal about what they think? (For the record I'm in the vocal category - I remember sitting at my brother in laws and they were teaching their 3 year old twins 'girls are pretty and boys are handsome' and I couldn't think of anything acceptable to say... If ours is a girl there will definitely be some cute navy outfits, and have some soft blue grey wool to knit a jumper with no matter what it is) Also trying to limit myself to fairly basic onesies for newborn in any case, because who I am kidding about I'll be hanging at cafes and parties showing off my baby -I'll be at home on the couch with the dishes unwashed :P

Tranquilitybaby · 11/01/2015 11:15

Tracey it could be round ligament pain or possibly a UTI. See how you go today and if you're still worried, call your midwife. X

htf2 · 11/01/2015 11:17

One more thing - I was just looking at mothercare (specifically that bear costume link :D) and the baby wear sizes confuse me - what is the difference between 'new baby 10lbs' and '0 - 3 months'?

I was 6lb 6 and wouldn't have hit 10lbs till 2 months at the earliest, that makes them sound exactly the same! Is one bigger does anyone know? I am used to sizes 000 and 0000, for smaller babies people will need 0000 but the bigger babies would never need that size. (Premmie is different again) I was planning on about 5 each of 000 and 0000 size for the first few weeks...

Jazzy - That cake looks amazing... wish I could bake! :) I struggle to make one of those packet cupcakes that you mix and bake look nice lol!
Also Jazzy, I'd be interested in joining the facebook page.. how do I go about that?

Bubalou - unfortunately I can't say my hair has stopped growing. I look like a gorilla right now.

By the way, how big is everyone's bumps now? And when did you start feeling movement? Sometimes I think I can feel movement but then it turns out just to be gas (not to be disgusting). Getting impatient as I want to feel my baby, argh! I'm not 20 weeks yet though, I'm 17+2

Congrats to those who have reached the 20 weeks milestone :D

Tranquilitybaby · 11/01/2015 11:19

0-3 is 10-14lb usually x

PregnantAndEngaged · 11/01/2015 11:21

tracey I'd check with the midwife to be on the safe side and describe what the pain feels like.

Thelovecats · 11/01/2015 11:22

My babies were 7lb15 and 8lb6 and both in mothercare new baby (10lb) for a good few weeks.

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 11/01/2015 12:02

jazzy I have cake envy, I can do a bit of baking but your cake is awesome!.
relaxing day for me of Disney films on sofa with OH little girl and a monster roast cooked by OH (I thank god every day that he is a chef and loves cooking!!). Also telling my Brother the big news when he comes for lunch, fingers crossed he takes it well, but he has a brain injury so any reaction is possible.

Elizabeth - sounds like a lovely Sunday to me. hope your brother takes the news well and is happy for you.

I'm telling my last close friend today. just haven't seen her since Nov. she's not overly fussed on babies at the mo.

If anyone wants to join the FB group PM me your real name and tell me what your profile piccy is... I'll try my best to add you (just check ur settings allow others to search for you)

Re pain : often in first pregnancies you can start getting stomach ache/acid reflux/heart burn at about 19 weeks as you gut starts to get compressed... I would only be concerned if its more uterine pain.

Re bump: its bump day on the fb page, dont forget to show ur your bumps!

Re cake: thanks, i make them for friends and family mainly but i have a FB page if you fancy searching it.... Its called ... Its a cake bling.

jazzyjenbo · 11/01/2015 13:34

Yes you can tumble dry them.. I used to tumble all the basic stuff - vests, socks, babygrows etc and anything 'nicer' tops with sown on bits etc i used to put on the airer or radiator.

HTF I've never bought newborn - but I have big babies (9lb3 and 9lb13 ... Expecting this one to be 10lb+) so they went straight into 0-3. Newborn is smaller, and then there's 0-1month too.

Tracey hope the pain goes away, and hope it's just normal stretching and squishing and making room pain. Do seek help if it gets worse though.

Will put a pic on fb when we get home. Feeling huge and not yet 17 weeks.
