Hi ladies. My skin is quite lizard like too.

After my toddler decided to jump on my stomach last weekend (to be fair I do look a lot like a bouncy castle) we booked a scan for today for peace of mind. All good. Happy healthy baby. We're told at12 week scan that it looked like a girl but today she said it's definitely a boy. Better start thinking of boys names.

Chookford · 10/01/2015 19:27

tiddles congrats on the good scan news, and on your baby boy! These boys are really going for it!

PregnantAndEngaged · 10/01/2015 19:33

wheresmybiscuit I know, it really shouldn't be possible for them to hide information that they know about you (your baby is still part of you until it's born and they wouldn't hide other information from you, so why this?) however unfortunately some hospitals have this policy. The main reason is because their predictions can be wrong and they want to minimise the risk of giving wrong information. Therefore unfortunately you would need to look into a private gender scan.

Tiddles aww, oh my goodness, I'd have freaked out but I'm glad all is OK :) It's lovely on the other hand that you got an extra excuse to see your little one. Such a wonderful experience... I walked away on cloud 9 after my dating scan!

katbags · 10/01/2015 19:35

Anything omg yes the cheek acne! Such a joy Hmm

Tryingreallyhard84 · 10/01/2015 20:11

I have back-ne and chest acne at the moment. Plus greasy hair. My , pregnancy sure is a barrel of laughs. Hmm Grin

I just tried to epilate my armpits for the first time in 3 months. It's so much more painful than it used to be. Not sure if that's cos I've been shaving so the hairs a bit coarser or pregnancy hormones. All so I can attempt my first visit to the gym in ages.

Tiddles - great news 're the scan. Hope your toddler has other climbing/jumping opportunities open to them other than your tummy here on in. Bless. Grin

Jackiebrambles · 10/01/2015 20:14

I'd completely forgotten some hospitals have that policy, they did at my friends hospital years ago.

She was told its because some cultures prefer boys and have been known to terminate pregnancies due to gender, not sure that's true though :(

traceybaybee · 10/01/2015 20:35

Placemarking for finding out what team i will be on on 23rd. Eeeek countdown is on Grin

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 10/01/2015 20:45

5 sleeps til our private scan, to say we are excited is an understatement.

wheresmybiscuit my mw gave me a leaflet regarding our local hospital and their scan policy. They say they won't do a scan specifically for parents to find out gender, but they will give gender at 20 week scan if they are able. They did have a disclaimer on there stating that they couldn't be held responsible if the gender was different at birth to what they predicted.

Viewing houses today, the favourite is the one that needs most work, but it would make the most incredible family home. Luckily the business I ve seen for sale has a 3 bedroom flat being sold with it so we could live there whilst work done. OH wanted to have a ready done home, but now seeing this has changed his mind totally.

Tranquilitybaby · 10/01/2015 21:11

Found you!!

Hello newbies waves

My pram is here!!!! Yay!!
But it's in the hall and I need to get it round my parents house asap as I'm superstitious. Iscthatcreally stupid? DH however wants to open the box and put it together to make sure its all ok. And now I want to do that too!! Argh lol

Tryingreallyhard84 · 10/01/2015 21:19

Tranquillity - my need to play, sorry, test the pram would override any superstition. Grin However, go with whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Kyz · 10/01/2015 22:56

Evening all - four pages into a new thread, I missed the tail end of the last one too! Thanks for the new thread jazzy

Glad today is nearly over, I can't wait to go to bed!

Fairynuff phryn tbh I do agree with you but have said team pink/blue I think!! as it's an easy shorthand. I don't like the whole pink and blue thing as a stereotype, or indeed any gender stereotypes. I didn't realise how much it annoyed me until DS started growing up and people kept telling me to cut his hair, and then when FIL said he shouldn't have dolls to play with etc.

hi speed I read/post on this thread and the May one so have seen you about on there :)

you haven't offended me jazzy

your parents sound like they were fab elizabeth :)

re: movement - all movement I feel is really low, I also have the odd day or two where I feel barely anything/nothing until night time when I lie on my back and concentrate. However the past couple of days baby has been very active which I find wonderfully reassuring :)

hi and welcome katbags and preg

i'm also another one having headaches, my skin is also horrid atm

jenny that rhino costume is adorable!!

whereis I know we are having a boy but I still refer to him as 'the baby' all the time lol!

congrats tiddles on having a little boy :)

tranquility i would totally have to play with the pram!!

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 10/01/2015 22:57

Fist bumps of crappy skin solidarity all round then Smile

Spodo, I'm using oilatum in the shower on my body as I did last time as it's super greasy and that combined with bio oil seems to be working ok. It's my face where I can actually see the scales falling off as I scratch like a dog move. Have smothered in dd's epaderm again tonight and may see if I can see gp about this and increasing heartburn sometime soon. I've had to betnovate/hydrocortisone and that kind of stuff before so will see what they say about that while pg.

Also tonight I notice my feet are swollen!! That never happened last time -- and I'm only 19 weeks!! Hell!

Not complaining really as it's not as bad as for many!

speedbird17 · 10/01/2015 23:20

Dry skin here too, so bad I've been scratching in my sleep and end up all scabbed up! Epaderm wasn't touching it so I've now got a Urea based cream and some hydrocortisone, which are better, but still so itchy and dry! Lots of sympathy from here.

Hey all,

Speaking of skin related pregnancy weirdness - has anyone's body hair slowed down growing?

I usually have annoying and ridiculously fast growing leg hair but it's growing so much slower now!

Yay a perk! Almost makes up for the shitty skin. Smile

Also for moisturiser I hate body moisturising - it feels cold and horrid. However Vaseline now do a moisturising spray that dries really quick so you can do it right before you get dressed.

Doesn't cost a lot at all either. Think £3-4.

Smile
AnythingNotEverything · 11/01/2015 00:14

Bubalou I'm the opposite. I feel like a gorilla Shock No matter how often I shave, I always seem to be hairy.

cuphat · 11/01/2015 07:58

My body hair almost stopped growing with DD and it has recently slowed down this time too.

Years ago I rarely used to moisturise my body but in winter my legs would get so dry that I'd scratch them to bits. For a few years now I've moisturised every evening after my bath and it's been worth it as my skin never feels dry now. It's not a hassle at all, it takes a minute or so, i just see it as something that has to be done. I love the Garnier Body Repair cream in the red bottle.

During pregnancy I also use oils on my stomach before the moisturiser; I didn't get any stretch marks during my last pregnancy despite having a massive baby and although genetics play a part I am sure the regular moisturising helped (my other family members got them). I started using them early on this time too so hopefully that will pay off again.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 11/01/2015 08:09

Morning - just need to say that my back is KILLING me this morning. Time to look for some support me thinks.

Jazzy - that cake is fab. I can bake but I have no artistic ability so my decorating is always minimal (read non existent).

My leg hair has stopped growing. Prob just as well as was only managing to shave every 3 weeks in first trimester and was a right gorilla! I spontaneously got my long hair cut to just above shoulder height yesterday. Was worried about needing frequent trims to maintain but hoping head hair growth will screech to a halt too. I am normally too cheap and lazy to maintain a haircut, esp as have to have it tied back for work - visit the hairdresser once a year usually!
