Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
longbottom · 26/01/2015 20:17

Despite saying I will I still haven't packed my bag, babies is done I think! I've bought toiletries and have something to give birth in, pack of cheap black pants. What else do I need?!

longbottom · 26/01/2015 20:21

I used the birthing ball, found it comforting! Don't know if it helped though!

BanglesSpangles · 26/01/2015 20:30

Bang, ive been on mine loads- its really helped when ive been feeling uncomfortable as i have a tendancy to slump on the sofa otherwise and it seemed to kind of give the baby some extra room to move, it was brilliant when my coccyx was bad, and i figure its got to be good for building core strength, which im sure will come in handy somewhere along the line!

In fact, ive decided to hop on now for a bounce- im so full of dinner and bsby legs at the mo, need to jiggle everything around

Bangonthedoor · 26/01/2015 20:43

Actually bangles you're right, it must give baby more room to move. Since I've been on, baby has been wriggling loads, can feel its little arms and legs Smile

Minichuch · 26/01/2015 21:01

Ooh bangles good for sore coccyx I'll add to the list to buy - anything to sit without discomfort

Memphisbelly · 26/01/2015 21:01

Bang it is suppost to open pelvis more, I found it more comfy to sit on it after my dinner at night, when I was getting very slow contractions it helped stop the feeling of pressure on my hips.

I think the cord blood is only in certain hospital in the uk.

Memphisbelly · 26/01/2015 21:04

Long- something to go home in, hairband? i sweat like crazy also maybe a water bottle? The gas and air was so drying on my throat and dh was trying to get my to drimk from a plastic cup as I was hanging over the back of the bed I wish I had thought of a water bottle

Bangonthedoor · 26/01/2015 21:05

Thanks memphis. I couldn't believe how much I could feel my own weight when I got off it! It felt like someone had put another baby in there!

Bangonthedoor · 26/01/2015 21:25

I also remember my lips being so dry from all the gas and air, so lip balm for me is a must and is firmly in my bag for this time. Hate dry lips!

longbottom · 26/01/2015 21:35

Something to go home in, ha, totally forgot that! Might chav it up and go home in trackies!
I've got terrible tummy ache and a bit of back pain, is that braxton hicks?

Memphisbelly · 26/01/2015 21:59

Long could be!

Bang yes I packed it but obviously for me it all happened too quickly, my lips are still really chapped from the gas, as I had an epidural last time I didn't realise how drying it was, this time I was chugging on it hoping it would give me some relief but just made me feel like I had inhaled helium! Grin

Honeybird · 26/01/2015 22:09

Memphis did you find the gas and air helped with the pain? Some women swear it is the best thing ever but honestly I found it was useful more as a distraction than anything else, and a way to count your breathing. Ditto tens machine, great as a distraction early on but a bit of a joke later... Will be using both again though this time!

longbottom · 26/01/2015 22:53

I think the gas and air is a way to make you breathe and calm you down! Nothing will beat pethidine! I'm going in with an open mind this time but do not want an epidural unless baby is at risk etc.
Pains have gone, baby is having a wriggle, I have a head ache and heart burn now.

Grinningcat · 26/01/2015 22:55

Congratulations on the babies born today.

I don't have my hospital bag packed either although I have a bag with some stuff for hospital thrown in it I.e. Nappies, breast pads as I've bought them. I don't think that counts though...

Had my aunts funeral today and I am knackered as predicted. Felt really good until 3pm then it took 45 mins to leave as I was saying goodbye to people! Had a nasty frightening dizzy spell on the m4 which I had to pull off for, but felt okay after a bit so I will mention it to mw tomorrow at my 36 week appt. now absolutely shattered, but I'm convinced I'm going to have a lousy night tonight.

mildatheart · 26/01/2015 23:15

Do exciting that all these babies are being born!
Jack, I'm in on Wednesday for mine.
I need to re pack my hospital bag and still feel ridiculously under sorted at home.
Nursery is not done in the slightest, baby has no where apart from those big bag for life carriers to store clothes. Good job he's got to sleep with us for 6 months.
I'm loving the gas discussion. I can sometimes hear it rumbling round my tummy like a freight train.
Am currently wedged in bed in a complex assortment of pillows to reduce discomfort but I'm also aware I'll miss bump as well.
Glad you're healing up Memphis x

blankfornames · 27/01/2015 03:18

Congratulations Jack!! Another thread baby! Hope you are recovering nicely!

Look at the time..and I've been awake ages. I'm comfortable in bed so think it must be my whirrling head that's keeping me from sleeping. Also Bean is doing a jig in there!

Are arnica tablets good for vaginal births also?

Mimosa1 · 27/01/2015 03:58

Hi Blank, I'm up in the early hours too. Have made plans to see some friends today before the baby comes and more tomorrow, as it may be a while before I'm up to travelling all over London.

Grinning, scary stuff on the motorway! Glad to hear all ok, let us know what the midwife says today.

Jack, pleased to hear you're OK. Will they send you home today?

Take care, all.

BanglesSpangles · 27/01/2015 07:56

Morning all

Grinning, glad to hear you got there and back relatively unscathed

Blank- I'm on the arnica in anticipation of a vb- first dose went in today so i hope i get a little bit closer to due date to give it a chance to work!

3 days left in the office. I'll be honest, I've not really got loads to do now! Going to take my (very scared) mat cover lady out for lunch and a pep talk

GeekyHybrid · 27/01/2015 08:14

mild I've got to admit that I'm not going to miss my bump at all. I spent most of yesterday feeling rather sick on top of the indigestion as LO was constantly stretching up and back towards my ribs and when it jabbed it was right in the kidneys Confused I'm sure it's already taken lessons from some backstreet kickboxer! Sleep - I'm lucky to get 2-3 hours at a time, I'm just so tired that I'm getting better at going back to sleep. I'm really going to enjoy baby being in it's own bed! Right next to me but unable to kick my kidneysGrin

Memphisbelly · 27/01/2015 08:37

Blank I took it last time and had forceps I was black and blue between legs nut it went within a few days, the swelling and bruising in my vagina went very quickly too. Took it earlier this time and eventhough I dialated to quick I was expecting really bad swelling and bruising as he came out facing upwards too but my bits look totally normal aready eventhogh mw said most back to back babies spin at last minute and ds baby didnt to expect bad bruising and swelling Shock

Honey last time it helped me control my breathing but I think you need it before you are too far gone.....they didnt give it me until 9cm dialated.
I agree about pethadine was amazing stuff again gave itvto me too late so he was Out before it took any affect

JacktheLab · 27/01/2015 08:54

Morning all, yup I'm def going home today, little miss passed all her blood tests, there's not really any need to be here, plus I've not had much sleep and breast feeding isn't working out at the moment so I just want to be home now

purpleteapig · 27/01/2015 08:58

Morning!

I took arnica last time after forceps birth, and was reading about you guys taking it earlier so it has more of an effect. However, when i went to buy some more from the health shop yesterday, the woman told me not to take it before the birth and then to only take it for 7 days.

This can't be right, can it? I think she was just reading the instructions on the side (they're neal's yard tabs).

Memphisbelly · 27/01/2015 09:00

Jack glad to hear your both doing so well you can go home enjoy your own bed.

Geeky yes I feel like uou say hated my bump in the end my organs being attacked from the inside, baby in crib next to me kicking his blanket.....although it is very cute that he curls up like he thinks he is still in there
