Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
WhyOWhyWouldYou · 23/01/2015 09:59

Bedbound! Everytime I think things can't possibly get worse they do. Even being in an upright sitting position feels like my pelvis is literally breaking. I really really can't take anymore. I want labour to start so they'll have to do a emcs instead of waiting until my elcs at 39weeks.

Memphisbelly · 23/01/2015 10:14

Morning everyone.

WhyO hope you get back out of bed soon, you are in such a bad way would they not bring your date forward? A girl at work got done at 37 weeks due to pelvic pain.

Well I gave birth yesterday morning and feel fab after a good nights kip, baby is very sicky due to speed of birth he is full lf mucus but hip pain gone, heart burn gone, headaches gone, rolling over in bed achieved, cannot sit directly on bum due to stitches but there aren't many. Cannot believe how quickly all the shitty parts of pregnancy have disappeared.

Got to go to doctors today for his 24 hr check and mw will come at some point

trukevoli · 23/01/2015 10:51

memphis, so glad to hear you are doing well! and very encouraging to know all the bad bits go.

Well I am at the hospital waiting for my scan. And after all the visits I have finally decided to check for Wifi! Smile

freneticfox · 23/01/2015 11:25

Memphis that is massively encouraging to hear, it's a point I cannot wait to get to (trying to think positively!)

Spoke to my midwife this morning who is still trying to pin down a date for a c-section if I go overdue (I want to avoid induction at all costs as it would mean no water birth).

Still have a high bump, don't think this baby wants to engage. I hope that doesn't mean he'll decide to be late.

Cookie1831 · 23/01/2015 11:25

Good to hear Memphis! Why do you have to take him out in this freezing weather can the midwife not do a 24 hour check at home not heard of go doing that before!

Cookie1831 · 23/01/2015 11:25

Gp not go

JacktheLab · 23/01/2015 11:39

Argh!

Just had my father on the phone asking about next week, he's determined that he should be able to pass on the news of the baby arriving straight away when we want him to wait a bit, guaranteed he's not getting his phone call till the day after now.....

I'm so done with being everyone's piece of gossip now!

DH arranging for my in laws to arrive on Sunday after I've left for the hospital, I'm gonna get a taxi in on my own, now they are asking why!?!

GeekyHybrid · 23/01/2015 12:19

Glad you got a good nights rest memphis, you deserved it! why that is crap, if you're immobile then surely they could consider bringing your elcs forward? You could even maybe play the panic card e.g. "I think I'm getting a thrombosis / bedsores / malady of your choosing" every so often, or several times a day! jack huge sympathies on family front. I know I'm going to upset IL's at some point but I'm reconciled to the idea for my own sanity Grin

I'm having a break to recover from mission dust creation Confused Sanded the replacement plaster patches in the nursery. I've got dust in my eyes, ears, blowing it out my nose and that's after a bath Hmm Decorating clothing now in the washing machine. So much dust.

BanglesSpangles · 23/01/2015 12:47

Man, that reminds me geeky, I really REALLY need to wipe down the stairs and doors downstairs- they're covered in plaster dust (and have been for, ahem, three weeks), and I just haven't had the inclination to get a cloth out.

Come on nesting instincts, kick in, you bastards!!

Memphisbelly · 23/01/2015 12:54

Cookie the 24 hour check is done by a doc to check hips and stuff they do it in surgery if you leave hospital quickly after the birth, the midwife is coming to the house to do her checks at some point today.
To be honest I want some fresh air I hate being holed up in the house. My dads just visited , nice that he came quicker than expected as by the time ds arrived people were desperate to see him but this time they are all coming gradually over weekend.

Frenetic I was shocked by hip pain already going just getting off the bed with a sore bum is causing some issues Grin

Mimosa1 · 23/01/2015 13:17

Memphis, so pleased to hear that lots of the unpleasant pregnancy symptoms disappear quickly and for those of you who are hoping for an earlier induction or section, I hope you get it!

First day of mat leave for me and have been to visit our local nursery where I hope to get a place and gone to look at paint samples for the living room. Need to repack my hospital bag AGAIN but no real nesting instincts (by which I mean serious cleaning) have kicked in yet Wink

Minichuch · 23/01/2015 13:28

No nesting instinct kicked in with me yet either and my dh was complaining about it.

Think I will definitely upset mil at some point post birth - she is going to want to be there constantly and think I will just want peace and quiet - poor dh is going to have to do some mother wrangling

BanglesSpangles · 23/01/2015 14:03

:( Bananas still = heartburn. Why will I never learn?! Haven't had chest fire this bad in weeks!

OP posts:
jenmcspen · 23/01/2015 15:31

Hope everyone is doing okay. Really feel for anyone suffering from pgp. i had mild pain during pregnancy compared to lots of u but was still glad to see the back of it! Did take a couple of days for me as was very achy after labour (think I might have overdone it using muscles I didn't know I had!)
Day 5 now and feel really good, if v v tired. Breastfeeding has been tricky for us to get the hang of. Hard work but def worth persevering.

Grinningcat · 23/01/2015 16:14

Had a rubbish night's sleep last night mainly down to DH, but I'm off work today using my last flexi day up so I've had a lovely sleep on the sofa.

Today I got a letter through the post asking me if I would join a study that my local hospital is taking part in. It is to research whether inducing over 35 first time mums at 39 weeks is safer than leaving them to be induced at 41 weeks if they go over. Wondering if I should take part. What do you all think? I will mention it at my antenatal class tomorrow to see what the Mw says. There would be a 50% chance of me being in the group where birth would probably happen as it would do anyway, but I could be induced at 39 weeks which is something I wouldn't otherwise be eligible for I guess. On one hand I like the idea of giving birth whenever it happens to happen, but on the other it would be good to plan stuff like DH taking leave etc. I don't like the idea of "picking" the birth date ( although inducing one day doesn't necessarily mean giving birth that day). However I can't imagine for one moment that I will actually enjoy being overdue if that happens even if I am not suffering much right now.

freneticfox · 23/01/2015 16:49

Oh flip, more bad news for me. New hospital are refusing to consider a c-section for me if I go overdue, despite me saying I don't want induction and my midwife telling them I can't part my legs far enough for a sweep.

Have to go see a consultant on Tues to fight my case. Again.

At this rate I'm never having another child again. It's 2015 and I'm thoroughly disheartened that so for the NHS has done nothing but make things difficult for me and take away any iota of free choice I thought I'd have.

Cookie1831 · 23/01/2015 17:32

Ah oh Memphis I just hadn't ever heard of the gp doing the new baby check unless it was on a home visit as always at the hospital here I hope I am as enthusiastic to get out and about straight after the baby comes!!

BanglesSpangles · 23/01/2015 17:58

Hi jen, glad to hear you're doing well

grinning do you not get to pick what group you go in? Think I'd feel a bit weird about not getting the choice for myself, if you see what i mean

Frenetic no freaking way?! In your position, i think disheartened would be putting it mildly- don't give up now, sounds like your midwife has got your back so keep fighting for what you want- not long to goFlowers

OP posts:
longbottom · 23/01/2015 20:26

I am full of cold again!! I really cannot wait to no longer be pregnant!
Exactly two weeks left at work, woo hoo!
Seeing the midwife on Thursday for 36 week appointment, I think baby has dropped.

Memphisbelly · 23/01/2015 20:32

Cookie if I had been able to have a wee I had ds at 8.25 I could have been home by 11 but I got very anxious trying to wee after (when I had ds I had to go home with a pee bag as I was so swollen I couldn't go for 22 hours) at 2pm I eventually went after 8 cups of tea and 1.5 litres of squash I did a trickle and they let me go (to spend the next 6 hours peeing like a camel at home)

Gp check was fine apart from ds's testicles haven't dropped but as they can be pulled down they aren't comcerned yet. Mw came for her check too.

jen glad to hear your breastfeeding is now going well, my boobs are starting to fill already.

Frenetic I am so sorry for your experience you are having! I am shocked they said about being unable to do a sweep as they need to open your legs the same amount apart for examinations and if you need stitches, I cannot open my legs how far they usually expect you to due to crappy hips but they had to manage all of them on me with no problems, I had my legs in stirrups for stitches but they angled them in a position I could manage.

Bangonthedoor · 23/01/2015 20:35

Evening all Smile

long I feel your pain...it sucks not being able to take much either! I've just had 2 paracetamol and a hot honey and lemon and come to bed in an attempt to rest it out.

So glad to hear you're both doing well memphis and jen Smile remind me of your c-section date jack?

Sorry to hear about your troubles frenetic Hmm it sounds as if your midwife is on your side so I hope at your next consultant appt they listen to you!

Had my presentation scan this morning and all is fine, baby is head down rather than breech so I'm happy, exactly 38 weeks today.

I also hate being everyone else's gossip point too. My friend text me today telling me about a girl I know of who was due on the same day as me has had her baby already....I'm not quite sure what her point was but I definitely took offence! Maybe I should just turn my phone off until baby is here Grin

bellaboo88 · 23/01/2015 21:06

Kicking myself for not trying to keep up now ??

longbottom · 23/01/2015 21:47

Bang, I'm in bed too. Eating crunchy nut cornflakes from the box! New craving!
I have had leaky boobs today, please tell me it's a sign baby is gonna come early?!

freneticfox · 23/01/2015 22:02
