Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Mini that is funny regarding your MD it isn't like you have only just told them you are having a baby! Grin

Donkir are you excited about going on mat leave? Do you have famiy near if they are needed?

BanglesSpangles · 26/01/2015 12:41

memphis ooh did they?! I was actually a bit scared to ask my midwife about it as she was a tiny bit dismissive about hypnobirthing!

Seriously, in 'normal' life, I'm totally un-woo, but this pregnancy has turned me into a total freaking hippy!- breathing, visualisation, homeopathy, meditation. Will probably end up knitting my own yoghurt by the end of next week :D

I am excited but I'm not one for sitting around waiting I like to be active. My family are an hour and a half away. My bf would be willing to have ds but her partners gm died a few weeks back and then her gf passed on Friday so just feel she could do without the added stress.

freneticfox · 26/01/2015 13:04

I have grumpy bowels today, yippee! (sarcasm). Unless of course it's a sign of labour in which case bring on the poop.

Sorry, I have no dignity left :p

tweety89 · 26/01/2015 13:28

PeppermintInfusion were these friends of yours having their second/third child? I'm 35+4 today and I haven't prepared my hospital bag yet...Shock
I have my elcs app on my 39th week but on my first baby my waters broke at 39+2 and I'm now panicking a lot a bit...
I did try a lot the first time though (lots of Raspberry Lead tea, some pineapple, I always cook with a lot of chillies, hate curries though! :)) and this time I'm only using the chilli in the food (as I cannot help it), no teas, no pineapples.

Should go and prepare the bag...[feelinglazy]

BanglesSpangles · 26/01/2015 13:35

I flew in the face of danger and only finished off my hospital bag yesterday at 37+1- seemed too much like tempting fate to do it any earlier (plus i just couldn't bring myself to buy breast pads!)

Am actually feeling pretty much sorted now- just waiting for the blind to be delivered for the baby's room, but apart from that, we are as ready as we're going to be!

Baby here, phoebe was 8lbs 8oz, arrived at ten am in a furious mood from being removed from her cozy home, so nothing wrong with her lungs!!!

JacktheLab · 26/01/2015 13:47

I forget who is having their section on weds?

It was fine very different to an emergency section, had to fast from twelve

donkir · 26/01/2015 13:48

Congratulations Jack, lovely name and a good weight too. Hope your feeling as well as can be expected Thanks

HelKat207 · 26/01/2015 13:52

Congrats Jack! I would very much appreciate the full story whenever you get a spare ten mins please Smile don't hold back on anything including pain! Flowers

JacktheLab · 26/01/2015 13:55

Twelve the night before, then I went down to theatre at nine where there were an bunch of people who explained who they were, what they did and generally they all took the time to reassure me etc

The section itself is a bit odd, it really is them rummaging around, you can feel the rummaging but there's no pain, it's a little uncomfortable though.

Takes about half an hour to get baby out and get sewn back up and then up to the ward for tea and toast.

I'm trying to get her to breastfeed, not sure if we will succeed but I gonna take it one day at a time

Honeybird · 26/01/2015 13:55

Congratulations jack! Hope you're both doing really well.

BanglesSpangles · 26/01/2015 13:56

congrats jack- glad to hear youre both doing well

JacktheLab · 26/01/2015 13:57

Not really any pain the drugs are good, but uncomfortable at the moment but I'm going to get paracetamol, ibuprofen and tramadole so that should help Wink

sandulacek · 26/01/2015 13:58

Well done jack and thanks for sharing your info re elcs. So useful. Enjoy your time together. How do you feel now?

Surf25 · 26/01/2015 13:59

Congrats jack! Great news about your wee girl's arrival! Hope the first few days go smoothly! Flowers

GeekyHybrid · 26/01/2015 14:49

Well done jack, someone was saying we needed a girl to start balancing out all the boys! Good luck with the bf.

Tweety re being ready. I'm 38 +3 and bag is only 90% packed, it was yesterday that I started getting toiletries bag organised! And we're still painting the nursery.

Donkir I'm the same re not being able to just sit around waiting hence I'm glad we're cutting it fine with decorating etc. You will find loads to do, I'm already eyeing up sorting various cupboards and the utility out, cleaning and stuff for when the nursery's done. I think it's the nesting thing which means suddenly there's loads that needs to be done, stuff I'd of previously happily ignored or put off!

purpleteapig · 26/01/2015 15:19

Congratulations Jack! Hope you get to go home soon.

Glad other people haven't finished their bags! I've only just done 3/4 of it(38+4) and still need a few bits. I should have learnt from last time as I ended up in the hospital with only half my stuff, but I haven't. Can't help being convinced i'm going to go overdue for this one despite first baby being a week early.

Mimosa1 · 26/01/2015 17:02

Congratulations Jack! another thread baby Smile

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 26/01/2015 18:25

Congratulations jack Flowers.

PeppermintInfusion · 26/01/2015 19:03

Tweety they were all their first children, though my friend that had her waters break before her elcs was in part due to stress (her husband had a serious accident).
I have my bag mostly packed now, there a few things not in but the main things are there.

Memphisbelly · 26/01/2015 19:48

Jack glad you haven't got pain and she came out shouting! Grin

Regarding hospital bag I hardly used anything, i needed extra knickers bringing in as my waters popped on their own I went through a few pairs as they saturated my pads quicker than I expected. Pjs to wear before it kicked off, nightie for birth then towel, wash stuff, and clothes for home (I put on pjs and expected to change but just left in pjs) I also took some dextrose tablets in and I had a couple after as I was shakey.....then cracked open some haribo Grin obviously because I was induced before contractions started I ate loads of food, listen to music, read magazines, played games and put in earplugs......you need earplugsGrin

I feel totally fine tonight, boobs are starting to go down, feel really well and happy only issue is my stitches are healing and they shrink as they heal so one is making me wince if I move to quickly. Baby has his heel prick test tomorrow Sad and he gets weighed.

Not sure if I said after birth but we were able to donate a really good amount of cord blood for stem cells, we got Antony Nolan slipper socks for me a a little lifesaver t shirt for baby and a certificate of thanks.

Evening all Smile

memphis and tori how do I consent to donating cord blood too? Hadn't even crossed my mind!

Glad all is going well with all the new babies and you mummies are doing well Smile

Congrats once again jack looking forward to seeing pics of little phoebe.

I've still got my horrible cold and sore throat, hoping I feel better tomorrow. Feel bad for DD who has been on the receiving end of my snaps today Sad I hope tomorrow is a better day.

I'm sat here on the birthing ball watching eastenders. Has anyone ever used these prior to labour? Do they actually help with anything?
