Hands up for giant farts here too. I was wondering if it's because I have to be really careful with my diet as I've got BP and glucose issues, so when I do eat, I gobble like a pig, so I take in loads of air too. They're not that stinky, although I did have to leave part of mothercare pretty quickly yesterday before anyone noticed, but my god are they loud! DH keeps thinking they are moving the furniture in the upstairs flat.

Having thought last night things might be moving as I had what now in retrospect appeared to be Brixton hix, as it didn't hurt at all, I am back to waiting. Check up with doc on Wednesday for BP and glucose (which I'm monitoring at home regularly too). I am still torn between wanting to get on with it and wanting baby to come in his/ her own time. I'm 37 + 2 now and doc will probably wait until 40 weeks if can keep on top of sugar and blood pressure before wanting to induce.

I think the BP might well be the thing though as I have meds to keep it down but it's still regularly over 145 over summat which they get jumpy about at the hospital where I go for my checks.

I am still soooooooooo lazy. Have vital baby stuff now but the flat really needs sorting and I am supposed to be working too as am freelance, but this project I'm on keeps getting pushed back and back. I find I sit down for lunch, after which I'm meant to make sure I feel calm and relaxed before checking my BP to get an accurate reading, but I generally nod off, then wake with a start, usually snoring or dribbling, sexy, and so I can't do my BP til I've calmed down. It's quite ridiculous! This is quite a farcical time in my life. I suppose I should enjoy it as I won't have luxury of passing out in an armchair like a granny if I decide to have another one and already have one to look after.

BanglesSpangles · 25/01/2015 12:40

Teehee, giant, your description of your bp tribulations really made me laugh :)

Just did a ridiculously oversized tescos shop. Havent done any stocking of the freezer exactly yet, but i do now have an abundance of snacks and microwave rice and noodles, so can make quick dinners once the babys here and we're knackered

Mrmphis- im taking tips from you too, so keep us posted with what works! Have bought arnica just not started taking it yet- wonder if 37 weeks is too early

Hello! Hope all you guys doing ok with new babies/ end of pregnancy - it is a totally crazy time!

I have 10 free little lamb boosters if anyone is planning to use reusable nappies and would like them?

They have not been used but I may have washed them when I got them 3 years ago.

I am happy to put them in the post & pay postage to anyone who would like them.

GeekyHybrid · 25/01/2015 13:23

All the fart talk is bringing a smile to my face. Thank you. I really don't feel guilty about any that I drop, hubby out does me every day! It's not really his fault, 2 years ago he had bowel cancer and they removed about half his colon, a slight side effect is that his stink. Really really stink. I can be cooking in the kitchen and still be aware he's been for a poo upstairs! So, whilst I'm very grateful I still have him, he can't complain about anything, and obviously mine smell of roses (in comparison)! ;-)

We've started putting paint on the nursery walls, which means we may just be ready in time. Impressed with all of you who've been so more organised and are ready weeks early. Time to make lunch, I can hear him rinsing the roller out.

Mimosa1 · 25/01/2015 13:24

Hi everyone,
I'm sitting at ikea for the millionth fourth time this week and given up on DH and gone to sit down. Is arnica safe to take while pregnant or do you take it after the birth?
Midwife has offered me a sweep on Thursday (due date) if nothing happens before. I'm seriously considering it but not sure it will do anything / will be painful if not ready?
Take care, all.

donkir · 25/01/2015 14:00

It's completely safe. Pack says start taking 2 weeks prior to due date but I think Memphis was taking 3 a day quite a bit before 38 weeks.

Mimosa1 · 25/01/2015 16:38

Thanks donkir

Bangonthedoor · 25/01/2015 19:38

I've been taking 2 arnica a day for about 2 weeks now, really hope it makes a difference! memphis, how many did you take a day?

Fanny and arse daggers have been very present today! One made me drop a bowl of stuffing on the kitchen floor at dinner time Hmm

Took DD to the cinema and mcdonalds today for a bit of a treat. Trying to do a few things that will be tricky to do for a while with a newborn in tow.

Does anyone else hate the not knowing when it's going to happen?! Hope your ok soph and all has gone well today. Good luck for tomorrow jack, looking forward to hearing the news Smile

Cookie1831 · 25/01/2015 19:45

Yes bang is driving me bananas!! If someone could just get out their crystal ball and say yep you are going to be 2 days over or 5 days early or whatever at least I would have something to work to, so frustrating every day thinking is today the day?! And then I feel guilty for not relaxing and enjoying the last few days with my bump!
Stupid backache and BH keep getting my hopes up patience is not my strongpoint as you can probably tell!!!

BanglesSpangles · 25/01/2015 20:51

Evening all, had a lovely day of tea and cake (no games, presents or other shenanigans for misery guts me) with my closest friends and fam, at the hotel we got married in. My best friend surprised me with a visit from portsmouth, my auntie came for the weekend from gloucester, and my devious sister kept the whole thing under wraps. Even my MIL whose on holiday sent me a lovely card and vpucher for a pedicure. Feeling a very lucky girl :)

Thanks for the offer general, but im going down the disposable route.

PeppermintInfusion · 25/01/2015 21:07

I'm starting to feel so uncomfortable now (I'll be 36w on tues), I've escaped quite lightly so far so can't complain too much.

We now have a Moses basket for downstairs and a tiny cot for our bedroom upstairs in place (MIL had acquired these from her friends' grandchildren etc so they'd been in hers for a while) and we got the rest of the stuff in the nursery so it's more or less done, just need curtains and a few bits.

I finally packed a bag for the baby too and put a few more things in a bag for me as DH is starting to panic because someone we know (and saw at last week's mw appt ) had her baby 3 weeks' early today and last night our friend was telling us about when she went into labour naturally before her elcs and had to rush to hospital so he is convinced it will happen to is now too!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 25/01/2015 21:08

Yes Bang it's so frustrating! I'd just like to know the week its coming in not even the day! First babies are meant to be normally around due date or late but every ache and pain I'm still wondering if it's it!! It's going to be along few weeks!
Although having said all that it makes it pretty exciting not knowing! Blush

freneticfox · 25/01/2015 21:37

SO grumpy today. SPD pain is kicking my ass, but with bump still quite high I feel like my stomach and lungs are being squished to within an inch of life. Therefore if I get up to walk around and try and encourage downwards movement, I get searing pelvic pain.

I've also been REALLY lucky until now escaping heartburn but I assume with little on now packing on the weight, I'm starting to feel quite burny in the throat.

37+1 and the thought of another 4 weeks... ugh. Nope.

JacktheLab · 25/01/2015 21:46

Hello all I'm in antenatal ward waiting for things to kick off tomorrow

Just coming back to the essentials for the hospital bag I wanted to make some suggestions, ear plugs to drown out everyone else and jogging bottoms to come home in, cos our poor undercarriages!

sandulacek · 25/01/2015 22:13

Good luck jack Flowers

peppermint that's what I started to worry about...what if I start off before my elcs. Better finish packing that hospital bag. DH spoke to mil who was not impressed i haven't packed it yet and scared him off.

Does anyone know when to start taking arnica for the elcs? I asked one mw and she said not until after? Hmm

Any tips for after the birth and c section will be greatly appreciated!

Memphisbelly · 25/01/2015 22:19

frenetic have you got a ball? it eased pressure in my hips no end.

jack best of luck tomorrow I will be thinking of you. i took leggings but strutted out high on painkillers in my slippers and batman pjs Grin Grin

arnica my mw said take 3 for last 4 weeks. im still taking it now. my stitches are so bloody sore but the witch hazel is soothing.
drove to asda today to get few bits. tbh I needed so quiet without people asking if im ok all day so took baby and left dh and ds playing lego at home

BanglesSpangles · 26/01/2015 07:56

Morning all

Good luck Jack

Last week of work for me- Hooray! Crazy friend whose due in May told me she's intending on working right up to her due date! As much as I'm still feeling pretty well, I'm just looking forward to (hopefully) a couple of weeks of chilling out and finishing off final bits pre baby

Arnica peeps- how much did you take/are you taking? Think my pills are 30 somethings

OP posts:
jenmcspen · 26/01/2015 08:48

Good luck jack thinking of you

jenmcspen · 26/01/2015 08:48

Wonder how soph has got on?

Memphisbelly · 26/01/2015 10:20

Bangles 2-3 a day. Anything you take will help, it is homopathic so iys not something you can OD on. I have such a clear head compared to last time and I cannot believe how much it has helped me, literally no bruised feeling after 3 days, my only soreness is the stitches nearest my bum and thats only because they aren't getting aired enough.

Ah cannot beIieve we will have more thread babies today. So exciting!

My milk is full on in now and baby just wanted to feed and feed last night at long last think smelling my milk kick started him wanting to feed, sadly this mean't me leaking everywhere as dh feeding him wasn't good enough.
My dh is being utterly amazing he is doing everything for me, the boys and house/pets.he keeps saying I did all the hard work I need to rest now.

BanglesSpangles · 26/01/2015 11:31

thanks memphis. It's amazing what you'll try to attempt to get through this pregnancy lark unscathed- I usually think homeopathy is the biggest load of shite but am thinking what the hell Grin

HelKat207 · 26/01/2015 11:56

Oh Memphis your bloke sounds fab you're so lucky!!
I hope mine is just as helpful, he's a first time dad and I really don't think he knows quite what is ahead of him!

I best get on the Arnica! A week Thursday... eeeek I'm actually terrified Blush

Minichuch · 26/01/2015 12:15

Omg my md has gone into meltdown and panic mode this morning - think the realisation I'm leaving in max 4 weeks has hit home plus apparently they were discussing my sore coccyx with friends over the weekend who said oh that means she is 2-3 weeks away - cue even more panic

Its hilarious really - I now have daily tasks in relation to filing and updating people on processes etc

I'm heading to buy arnica tonight!

donkir · 26/01/2015 12:22

Last day at work today. Still doesn't seem real that I could have baby anytime now. HelKat I'm also a week Thursday for my due date. Still not sure what I'll do with ds if labour starts at night.

Memphisbelly · 26/01/2015 12:22

Bangles I think it is shite too but docs and midwives say to use it. My friend didn't and she couldn't sit for 3 weeks, her bits were dark purple! I have just had a look at my stitches and I look almost normal down there so its done some good!
