Shame about the midwife nottalotta but yey for for doctor coming to the rescue. I would have been upset if I'd not heard it. Needed some sort of reassurance that I wasnt just growing a food baby haha.

fanby the Hunger! I tried not to eat too much today because I really feel like I'm getting too chubby in the stomach area but I am so so hungry if I don't eat! My sister is up visiting for a few days so we're getting Chinese take out for tea but dp didn't fat the memo and has gone for a game of squash so I'm starving! So far had a banana and orange to stave it off but it's not working.

PenguinTuxedo · 04/03/2015 19:22

I know it's not for everyone, but we have a foetal Doppler for use at home. It really helps with my anxiety when I'm worried there's something wrong. Dh loves it, cos he listens to her kicking and I say when I can feel it, so he feels included :)
Like I said, I know it's not for everyone, but just thought I'd put it out there :)

Frolicacid · 04/03/2015 19:32

your break sounds lovely dozy. I have a few people knitting for us now as well. I love babies in little hand knitted cardies and hats. Step mil is a crafting genius and has already made beautiful toy bunnies and some clothes.

Sorry some of you are already having pic pain. It sounds horrible. Also sorry for those who are having crap midwife appts. I've okay had two, but they've both been quite long. She is lovely and likes a good chat by the looks of it. She tried to find the heartbeat when I was 14+4 but couldn't. I'm back in two weeks and will be 17+4 by then so will hopefully get to hear it.

I'm still feeling (and being) quite sick, but it's mainly in the evenings now. It's making work a bit easier as I'm not feeling too bad during the day. I've even had a few sandwiches for lunch rather than the plain crisps I've lived off since the BFP Smile.

I'm with you on the slightly hippy front. Will definitely be looking into cloth nappies and getting second hand whenever I can. I also shave my legs and armpits - or at least I did until all bloody movement started making me vomit!!

Joskar · 05/03/2015 07:36

My bump is huge! I'm coming up 16 weeks but you'd have thought I was loads further on even though I've lost half a stone from throwing up all the time. That with the SPD waddle I'm definitely back in pregnancy uniform of tunic and leggings.

How much is one of those Doppler things? That sounds cool.

I suppose quick appointments is good because it means you're grand but when something as massive as this is happening to you/your body/your life it would feel nice to have more of an acknowledgment! Hard to remember that for the MWs it's just another day at the office. I'm taking the view after last time that the less I see of health professionals the better!

mzzzf · 05/03/2015 09:54

I've got a Doppler too and it's awesome. I got the Angel Sounds one - about £20 ish from Amazon.
I love that I can check on how the bump is doing and that DH can get involved too and have a listen.

Some ladies I know have got a bit obsessive about it, so you need to just use it as and when rather than constantly.

OMC1 · 05/03/2015 12:49

Hi everyone! I can't believe I've only just discovered this thread, I feel very late to the party here! Smile

I am due on 14 August 2014 with #1! Very excited! Would love to get to know some more mums as I don't know anybody in my social circle who is expecting at the moment!

We don't know the sex yet, and the 20 week scan is on 27 March - still not sure whether we are going to find out or not!

Hope everyone is okay! x x

Dozygirl · 05/03/2015 18:17

Hi omc same due date as me and same date for the 20 week scan. I can't Wait to see it again. Are u gonna find out the sex? I want to so I can start buying cute clothes.

frolic so sorry to hear you're still being sick even if it is just the evening. Have u stopped taking the tablets? I can't imagine what it must be like.

Went for a slightly strenuous hike round ingleton falls today in the Yorkshire dales. Feeling very outdoorsy at the moment! My sister is up visiting though and has a very lively sproker spaniel puppy so we wanted to wear her out. Think it wore me out the most though seeing as the most exercise I've done is walking up the stairs at work and occasional swim session. There were lots of steep hills. It was a gorgeous winter day though so I thoroughly enjoyed it.

OMC1 · 06/03/2015 08:51

Dozygirl That's very cool! Is this your first? I can't wait to see the little wriggler again too! Have you started to feel any movements? We don't think we will find out the sex, but might end up changing our mind on the day! Haha!

Dozygirl · 06/03/2015 09:25

Yeah it's my first too. I'm not 100% sure but I 'think' I can feel something this morning. I can never decide whether it's just wind that I'm feeling but it's been a bit more frequent today so that's why I'm thinking maybe it's the flutters that people talk about. Or its wind, who knows!

Guyropes · 06/03/2015 11:33

Hi everyone, hope you're all feeling ok today.

Dozy... Your hike sounds lovely! I'm hoping to go out to the hills for a picnic on Sunday... A proper bit of fresh air and daylight!

Hmmm. To find out or not to find out... I've decided I don't want to find out... I'm happy with getting neutral stuff, and I want a delivery room surprise. But I'm worried that if its a boy, the evidence will be there on the ultra sound screen! This happened to a few people I know, and I'm booked for growth scans, so I've got plenty of opportunity to see... Ah well.

Movement has picked up a little here, so I'm much less anxious than I was a few weeks ago when it tailed off.
Frolic, 14 is quite soon to hear the hb... I hope you get it next time. Is your appt coming up quite soon?

I'm with joskar on the appts front... The fewer the better! Hard to see it like that when you want reassurance though.

Dani240 · 06/03/2015 11:54

OMC dozy we've said all along that we'll find out the sexes, but as the scan date gets closer (30th March!) we're starting to get cold feet! It would be so nice to have a lovely announcement at the birth, so I think we might have changed our minds. DM is desperate to know though, so she won't be impressed!

jemimarose3 · 06/03/2015 13:06

Hi everyone. My sister recommended this forum so I thought I'd give it a go. Hope I can join this late!

I'm expecting my second on August 21st... My little boy is just over 15 months. We didn't find out the gender with him (though I was convinced it was a boy) and aren't finding out with this one either, though like everyone else, I'm intrigued to know! I've been interested in the nub and skull theories - have you all heard of this method of gender prediction?

Anyway, I'll enjoy reading all your posts and getting involved with the new baby excitement.

All the best!

birchwoods · 06/03/2015 13:32

HI everyone!

Ooh, Dozy movement, how exciting! How many weeks are you? I'm 18 weeks tomorrow and don't think I've felt anything yet, but as you say it's hard to tell really isn't it!
Your walk sounds nice, I think I might take myself up the hills this weekend (and reward myself with cake after).

I hope everyone is feeling ok!

Dozygirl · 06/03/2015 16:11

Welcome jemima I had a Google about the nub theory but I couldn't really figure it out.

dani I don't think i could wait if I was having twins lol. My friend is having twins and she wants to keep it a surprise too. I keep telling her she's mad haha. I have no patience though.

birchwood I also treated myself to a scone after the walk heehee. It was too tempting. Not convinced it was movement I could feel. I'd like to think it is but it's so hard to differentiate to just normal goings on in that area! I'm 17 weeks today. Soon we'll be getting sick of all the movement though when it's keeping us up at night heehee.

Dozygirl · 06/03/2015 16:14

guyropes I reckon looking at the scans you might convince yourself you saw something but still not be 100% sure if that is what you're seeing so you still won't know really what you're having. If that makes sense!

sianihedgehog · 06/03/2015 19:20

Oh my god guys, this week I suddenly have a bump!!!
Think I'm about 18 weeks going by EDD, but it's properly popped out really suddenly!

PenguinTuxedo · 06/03/2015 19:31

That's exciting Sian :)

We looked at the nub theory with the 12 week scan pic, and everyone on the fb group thought girl...and they were right!

pinkie87 · 06/03/2015 19:53

I'm so jealous of all of you ladies with bumps! I'm 15 weeks today and just look like I ate too many pies. Definitely not a bumps! Also covered in spots all round my mouth and chin. Really not feeling the glow at all. Have noticed a load of new hair growing at the front of my hairline though...

Frolicacid · 06/03/2015 20:53

Thanks dozy. it's definitely getting better. My appetite is heaps better and I'm mostly oy sick in the evenings. I'm hoping the baby might be getting some nutrients at last. It's been built on plain crisps up to now.

Your walk sounds lovely. Frolicdog is a spaniel, and still lots of fun despite being an old lady. DH has taken over walks since I kept vomittting into bushes and the harbour. I can't wait to get out with her again.

I have another midwife appt on the 17th guy. I'll be almost 18 weeks by then so hopefully the heartbeat will be easier to hear. She did say it was unlikely last time, but it was nice of her to try. I'm mostly reassured that all is fine by the unrelenting sickness and tits of fire!

I'm 16 weeks now siani and my bump has really popped out. It's kind of nice, but I've already had a few comments about being huge! God knows what they'll say by the time i'm 30+ weeks! I'm astounded at the comments and questions people seem to think are ok. Almost everyone has asked me if the baby was planned Hmm. How the fuck is it their business?!

Very jealous of all of you who know the sex and / or are feeling movements.

Happy Friday to you all!

pinkie87 · 06/03/2015 21:00

frolic the lady at work doing my risk assessment asked me if it was planned, in front of my boss. It was the strangest moment and I didn't realise quite how personal a question it was until after as I was so surprised! What's wrong with people?

Frolicacid · 06/03/2015 21:10

I know!! We have been lucky in that the baby was planned and we didn't take very long to get pregnant. I can't imagine how difficult that kind of question must be for someone with a less straightforward journey.

I'm usually the first to call out rude people, but a few of my friends have suggested that I just learn to simile and nod. Apparently pregnacy gives people the green light to say and asks whatever the fuck they want!

pinkie87 · 06/03/2015 21:22

Same as us, which is why I think I just went ahead and answered, but still, people have no boundaries it seems. That same woman also told me (all in the same conversation) I was having a big baby (I was 12 weeks at the time) as my DH is tall, and that I will never "snap back into shape" once I've had a baby. This lady doesn't know me at all!

mzzzf · 06/03/2015 21:48

Eugh! The comments are awful, aren't they?! Has anyone else had the 'helpful' comments telling me of all the awfulness I can expect. I feel like shouting " I know that already but thanks for scaring me again!"

I'll be 20 weeks on Sunday and I only feel movements at nighttime when I'm getting ready for bed. Got my anomaly scan next Friday - argh!

pinkie87 · 06/03/2015 21:55

Mzzzf yes usually about how I will never sleep again. As if I didn't know that, but thanks!

I can't wait to feel movement, I can't imagine what it's like at all. So exciting that your scan is so close! I have my gender scan on the 16th, that's getting me through!

happygojo · 06/03/2015 22:04

I get asked a lot if the baby was planned.... I keep thinking that next time someone asks I will go into detail about the conception. The other week I brought up an issue at work and my line manager came up to me the canteen later and said 'are you feeling a bit less grumpy and hormonal now?' Seriously! How dare she bring up my hormones when discussing a work matter! She also asked me whether I was in 'fat pregnant lady clothes yet'.... I could've swung for her!
