I really don't know what to do, em. Hopefully my scan might push it back a bit. I hope it all goes well tomorrow. I only started in September too, but had to bite the bullet early on as I was throwing up at work and I just can't lie!
My Head has been really supportive. I'm sure yours will be the same, not much they can do about it now!

NatalieBee · 04/01/2015 21:28

So many teachers on here at the moment Smilewhat is everyone else up at as a career? Im a nurseGrin I'd like to goto 37 weeks but that might be a bit over adventurous lol!

toothachereturns · 04/01/2015 22:18

I'm a Portfolio Manager for a bank..... don't know how understanding my work will be. My boss is in her 50s and been married for 25 yrs. Her and her DH decided in their 20 they never ever EVER wanted children and will tell us that most weeks! She describes pregnant woman as "the most protected species on the planet" coz we get maternity leave and free dental treatment etc. .. After all... she pays her tax too so why should she miss out just coz she decided not to spawn a child. I maybe paraphrasing but you get the jist.

Looking forward to breaking the joyous news! Grin Hmm

Dozygirl · 04/01/2015 23:18

Natalie I'm a nurse too :) do u work shifts? Most of the girls in work finish around 34 weeks by taking two weeks annual leave before starting maternity at 36 weeks. They really struggle towards the end so I'm just gonna follow their lead and not even attempt to think I can last longer than they have lol. I work on neonatal so u can be on the go constantly and looking after poorly little ones so I doubt I'll manage towards the end.

Twins! I totally missed that when I read your post. It didn't click till someone else said it. Congrats.

NatalieBee · 05/01/2015 00:30

Really dozy? That's awesome :) Im working in surgical high dependency so I'm similar to you it can be absolutely nuts,we do shift work as well! I hadn't even considered taking my annual leave them maternity..baby brain already lol!

Gillian1980 · 05/01/2015 01:12

Thanks for the new thread guy

I've had my booking in appointment and my next midwife appointment is 20th jan. I'm waiting for my scan letter to come through, hoping we don't have to wait too long.

Very tired and very nauseous. Not actually being sick but feel terrible, lost my appetite too. Dreading work tomorrow!

nannynome · 05/01/2015 04:15

I am a geek leading an It Team and not looking forward to going back to work after a lovely week off with DS and DH!

xBlueberry88x · 05/01/2015 07:07

Im a lettings negotiator I walk a lot in my job but technically my boss can take over alot of it when im further along.

He doesn't know yet but its just me and him in the office and im not sure how long I can hide it lol

Wow twins congrats I have a higher risk of multiples due to the clomid but I think my dp would cry

Luciferbox · 05/01/2015 07:07

Crap, I've just put my work trousers on and they're tight around my belly. I think I'm going to invest in new clothes sooner than I thought.

MrsTea81 · 05/01/2015 07:21

I'm an estate agent, lead the small sales team and deal with lettings pretty much single handedly, don't know who will deal with that when I'm off as when we got married last year I had to process everything in advance to cover the period I was off! Dreading work today and am ridiculously tired but just can't seem to sleep very well at the moment, anyone else suffering a bit of pregnancy insomnia? Good luck to everyone on their first day back after the break.

happygojo · 05/01/2015 08:41

I had such a rubbish nights sleep, I think it was partly to do with anxiety about coming back to work and the fact I am hitting 8 weeks today officially and this is when I found out my MMC last time. Just need to make it through each day!

Shantotto · 05/01/2015 09:37

So I'll be 10 weeks on Wednesday and I'm considering telling work today. I have 8 events coming up in 6 weeks, travelling across country and carrying heavy boxes of stuff! I think they should know so if I'm feeling I'll they an sort cover. And so I don't have to carry those boxes!

I do want them to know so if I'm I'll they understand and for my time off for appointments but it feels so early!

Isabeau1980 · 05/01/2015 10:23

It appears that I posted my mini rant on the old thread. Blush

Anyway, hope people here feel better than I do today.

Tired (insomnia kicked in last night) queasy and full of heartburn.

Ah well, only 7.5 hours til I finish work.

I normally am happier, I promise Smile

Dozygirl · 05/01/2015 11:01

Nice hearing what everyone gets up to in their day job :)
Natalie your job is probably as stressful as mine at times.

Was dreaming of prams last night so thought I'd have a little look online. There is so many to choose from, how are u supposed to just pick one? I really like the bugaboos but they are so expensive.

Been exhausted and sick all weekend so taken today off work. I genuinely feel horrendous though but I think when I rang up they thought I meant I had a sickness bug even though they know I'm pregnant.
Haven't had the energy to pack for my holiday so my lovely mummy is going to come round today to help me then I'll be off the radar from tomorrow as internet is hard to come by in Egypt. Felt quite depressed trying on my clothes from the summer because I hardly fit into anything. Can get away with baggy dresses but none of my shorts fit. It's not a good start to the pregnancy though if I've already put so much weight on and that's without a bump :(

nannynome · 05/01/2015 11:18

I am sooo hungry today and haven't brought enough snacks to work. I can't tell work yet, much as we planned this to fall between projects at work I have also only been here 4 months and have a 6 month probationary period!! Am trying to decide whether I can tell them before probationary is up or not. All my reviews have been nothing but praise but am panicked incase they do something hideous. How I am going to hide it for that long though is beyond me. I couldn't have waited coa my project that starts in jan is a long one I really want to be involved in and I would have been 38-39 before it was over and we wanted the children closer together than that.

happygojo · 05/01/2015 11:41

I work as a tendering PM for an environmental survey company, my bf works for them too, I will be the first preg they have had all being well so not sure how they will deal however they were ace during my MC and let my bf have 4 days of special leave to be with me. My bf also works offshore so not sure how they will appreciate me taking him out of the offshore pool for their busiest months Confused but I hope he gets a couple of jobs in the next few months so we can kick start some savings for next year (he gets extra money for being away). Jan is quiet for us but the spring will get quite busy and stressful!

daisysunshine2 · 05/01/2015 11:50

Morning :) I'm a nurse too! Recently moved into community working though, much nicer hours! Don't miss the shifts at all haha

After craving a bigmac for so long yesterday I made myself a gluten free version yesterday afternoon, it tasted amazing and really hit the spot... Until I threw it up 10 mins later! Ah well, 9 weeks today hoping the nausea/vomiting will ease off soon! I do feel a little bit better today, trying to get ready for work tomorrow and have been productive so far until going on here for the last half hour..

lucifer I did exactly the same the other day, put my work trousers on and thought.. Well they'll be ok in the morning but won't fit by the time I've had lunch! Luckily we don't have a uniform so I got some maternity trousers from next which look exactly the same and if i wear a long top then won't be able to see the stretchy bits! I'm hoping they arrive today!

wavesandsmiles · 05/01/2015 12:57

Hi everyone and thanks for the new thread Guy. I'm 10 + 1 now and had my booking in appointment with the MW last week. Still waiting for a scan date but no major concerns as I am not doing any of the screening tests (this is DC4 and I've not had any form of screening in the past).

Back at work after 2 weeks off over Christmas and it's a nightmare. I'm still in the thick of vomiting and nausea. At best I get a few hours respite a day thanks to the super-strong ondansetron melts I've been on for the past 3 .5 weeks. My job is pretty demanding - a purported 40 hour week is more like 60 hours and so the tiredness and vomming is making today feel like hell. I work in legal/regulatory for a private markets investment manager.

I still haven't told anyone apart from my doula. Ex (baby's father) found out but has made it absolutely clear he now wants nothing to do with me or the baby (and continues to lurk on MN to spy on me so I won't be posting much)

Sparrowlegs248 · 05/01/2015 13:38

Morning all, just checking in on the new thread. Back at work today (boooooo). Although, so far so good. Hoping the afternoon evening awfulness doesn't hit me.

Cannot wait for my scan!!!! 23rd. Seems an age away.

Isabeau1980 · 05/01/2015 13:59

Nottalotta My scan is the 23rd too.

NatalieBee · 05/01/2015 15:11

Nottalotta, mine is in 3 days and it's killing me! I want it now Wink!

em165 · 05/01/2015 16:22

Doodles, i'm not sure what to do either. Think I will plan to try my best to stay until the end but will have to see how I feel closer to the time.

Told the headteacher today and I have no idea why I was worried. She was lovely and really supportive. Feeling very relieved!!

Luciferbox · 05/01/2015 17:52

How did our first days back go? Mine wasn't too bad. I was surprised at how ok I felt, a bit green at times but fine.

Glad to hear your head was supportive Em. I'm going to wait until I have my scan date to tell him as I'll need to apply for it off.

Now I'm off to find my old maternity trousers. I have a horrid feeling I may have given them to charity after my DS.

ILoveYouBaby · 05/01/2015 19:05

I've had no Internet for a while and so so many posts to catch up on. I'm so pleasedto be on maternity leave whilst feeling this awful. But I've only got another four weeks before I start work. Work in the first trimester is so hard.

I look like I've got a bump today but it's just bloating. I was like this last time.

Guyropes · 05/01/2015 19:16

Hello.. Glad to hear 1st days back weren't too bad... Sorry to hear about the bus isabeau, I sympathise.... Sit at the front!!

I've had my scan letter through... 22nd, so hoping that goes well. I've not had any early scans yet.

Waves, I'm sorry to hear you can't use the forum as freely as you might... All the best with the sickness.
