See I think there's too many midwife appointments.

I understand they're reassuring in first pregnancy especially but I had my initial one at 12 weeks, another at 16 weeks and I'm due another already next week when I'm 20 weeks.

Not that I mind going to them as I know they help to monitor but i know my body and have my own urine sticks at home that i test regularly with. My mums a nurse so I have advice on hand. So really so far apart from the heartbeat I have gone to be weighed and have urine tested - last time they didn't even weight me.

Maybe the appointments will space out more evenly as time goes on.

I don't understand why you've got one at 20 weeks Buba!

I've got my 16 week appt next week and then I won't see her again until 28 weeks. I'll have my anomoly scan (and another one for my placenta) at 22 and 23 weeks.

Sunbathing I thought you'd have one at 25 weeks. That's what the schedule in my notes said for first time mums.

Thanks girls.

Going to start looking at nutsery bedding etc soon, really liked a bunny one in next but they've recalled it!

Anyone got scans/appointments next week?

I have no idea why I have a 20 week scan either.

I'm not high risk - I'm pretty much as low risk as it can get and its my second baby.

To be honest I'd rather not have the trouble of it. I know it's going to be a useless appointment.

bubalou · 09/01/2015 16:18

My 20 week midwife appointment is next Friday and my 20 week scan is on Tuesday next week.

Really excited for scan. Smile

cuphat · 09/01/2015 16:21

Sunbathing, did you check your notes? If it's not in there I'd double check with someone as I think you should have an appt at 25 weeks.

I've never heard of a 20 week appointment before unless there's something they need to keep an eye on? I did have regular blood tests last time due to low platelets.

My 20 week scan is on Monday! Should have been today but never mind.

Rosie888 · 09/01/2015 16:36

Awh thanks for all your thoughts on under and over bump jeans. I've ordered some from H&M so we shall see :)

And i made an order with Mothercare 3 days ago and just had an email saying sorry for the delay but expect parcel on the 16th Jan :/ hope yours comes soon Tranquility!!

jazzyjenbo · 09/01/2015 17:20

I have my 20 week scan on monday aswell and then a MW appointment at 21 weeks. I think she will only listen in and may start measuring bump.
She wont be doing bloods neway as i'm out of area so my community mw is not connected to my chosen hospital.
After that my nxt appointment is 3rd march for gtt.

Chookford · 09/01/2015 17:48

I've got a scan next Thursday but it's for a detailed Heart check then anomaly scan the following Monday, I'm crapping myself about both!

ChatEnOeuf · 09/01/2015 19:06

Spodo, my under bump jeans came from Next four years ago (nearly!). Still going strong and still the comfiest thing I own by far :)

bubalou · 09/01/2015 20:25

There's definitely nothing they need to check - re my 20 week appointment.

My bloods are all normal, low risk downs results, scans all fine, bmi 23. No home issues or social worker type issues - I don't smoke or drink. Everything is spot on.

The midwife when at my 16 week appointment looked and said - when do we need to see you next? Oh 20 weeks - that's soon.

I fully expect a big nothing of an appointment so I will let you all know.

Zaccheryquack · 09/01/2015 21:20

Bubalou I have a 20 week appointment too. Maybe dependent on where you live? Don't think there is any risk factors for me either!

Bazza2 · 09/01/2015 21:30

What sort of chair would you all recommend for feeding? I don't want to spend much on buying anything special but I'll need something easy to get up out of but also not too big as the nursery is TINY.

Thanks Zacchery - I was a bit worried Smile

I'm in essex and our town does have a particularly good midwife unit that I am with. There's also a really good maternity unit at a large hospital only 15 mins away and another one 20 mins the other way. I don't know if this is the case for all areas but it does mean we have a lot of good choice within a close areas.

Bazza I used an ikea poang both times and will do again. Our nursery is tiny too- about 7x8foot. I will have a poang chair, a cot and 2 ikea stuva units in it (only 60cm wide each). No change table- didn't find them useful for long and I felt safer changing baby on the floor or on our bed.

Tranquilitybaby · 09/01/2015 22:50

Good luck to you all with scans next week. Exciting times!

bubalou I'm in Essex too! X

bubalou · 09/01/2015 23:03

Hey tranquility. Smile

When people were all listing their locations I thought I was the only essex one here. Everyone else seemed so far away.
