Welcome mummyand loafers Good to see we have a pink bundle in there.. These boys are taking over!

come I'm getting one, know someone who used it and sweared it saved her sanity during night feeds!

traceybaybee · 08/01/2015 21:49

Good evening ladies :) finally back after issues with my phone were fixed. Hope your all well and hello to all the new ladies too

jazzyjenbo · 08/01/2015 21:52

Most ppl r still on here but alot now feeling confident to join in fb chat.

bubalou · 08/01/2015 22:05

Comeagain - I am 100 percent getting one!!! Smile

I was on another thread I think about 2 weeks ago an had no idea thy existed when people started mentioning them. Lots of people raved about them saying how good they are.

Just a tip - asda are going to be selling them online and in store apparently at their upcoming baby event from 17th onwards I think for £59.99 - the cheapest I have seen it!

Defo much better then the whole hot water, cool down, boil water, mix with milk, make it too hot have to cool it down all whilst holding a screaming baby at 3am.

Perfect prep here I come! Grin

WrappedInABlankie · 08/01/2015 22:20

Jazzy can you add me if there is a Facebook group?

I don't know why I haven't told anyone tbh. I just know atm I look fat but I'm going to go to my math class one day and be obviously pregnant and haven't said a word haha

I am also going to get perfect prep, sounds like a winner to me!

Kyz · 08/01/2015 22:50

Evening everyone! I haven't been great at keeping up, but I picked up a puppy on saturday and he's kept me really busy! I'm gonna read and catch up now and see if I can't manage this keeping up malarkey just a bit better!

Mummyosborne1983 · 08/01/2015 22:59

Hi girls Smile
Just looked at the Perfect Prep machine... The ones of you who are looking at getting one is this your first baby?
We always put boiling water in all the bottles to cool up to a certain amount and topped up later on with fresh boiled water so it made the correct temp. Obviously all depends on each persons preference but thought if you didn't know you could do that you can and will save money xx

bubalou · 08/01/2015 23:17

This is my second.

They didn't have them when I had my first but I will be getting one.

It's not a huge deal of money and for how much it will save in frustration and messing around with water and temps etc.

I am hoping to breast and bottle feed but will be buying one before baby is here as I know I will use it.

DH had a hidden tongue tie and couldn't latch so had to FF in the end but even if this baby does BF I want to do combined feeding with breast and bottle expressed milk and then move onto formula and breast after 6-8 weeks or so.

That's if all goes well. Smile

bubalou · 08/01/2015 23:18

Not DH couldn't latch - DS - fucking phone! Blush

Mummyosborne1983 · 08/01/2015 23:20

I'm hoping to combine feed too... My first was prem so I couldn't breast feed as he couldn't suckle! Do you just fill the machine and plug in? As would save going down stairs in the night? Hmmm may be I'm swayed too Wink

traceybaybee · 09/01/2015 00:26

The weather in scotland tonight is utterly wild we have where i am anyway had heavy battering rain galeforce winds and lightening and its set to continue all night Sad

htf2 · 09/01/2015 00:42

I think the bottle heaters are on my list of things I won't get for money and space reasons. I remember heating my youngest brothers bottles and it didn't feel like that big a deal,we would often sit them in boiling (not on the stove) water to get to the temp, plus I am hoping bottles will be just an extra only for the first few months (touch wood of course). Mummy your version sounds pretty easy also. The sleepyhead bed nest thing on the other hand I do want, and they're not cheap!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 09/01/2015 07:50

Traceybaybee - Same here in Sheffield, although no doubt nowhere near as strong as up in Scotland. I was awake for a fair portion of the night and was just thinking "I'm so glad I don't have to go anywhere today"...No Trying, only to the Midwife to whom you need to WALK. Shock

In terms of bottles, I think I need to have a read as I have NO IDEA what you're all talking about. Granted, I know bottles have to sterilised/warmed but other than that, I'm a gonna. I really hope this baby comes with a manual. Blush

Tranquilitybaby · 09/01/2015 07:52

Those perfect prep machines get good reviews if you're going to formula feed. Asda's baby event starts in store on 19th.

I'm determine to bf again, but have bought the Tommee Tippee bottles on offer as I was to express aswell.

bubalou · 09/01/2015 07:52

The perfect prep has a demonstration video online.

It filters all the water for the bottle so you don't have to do that separately. All you do is add your scoop of power to a bottle and place under the machine - it delivered a shot of boiling hot water that kills any bacteria in the milk and then it makes up the rest with water to the perfect temperature and consistency.

All in 2 mins - done. No monitoring temperature, boiling kettle, cooling bottle down etc.

I sound like a saleswoman but I remember DH in particular wasn't a great temperature monitor and when your baby's screaming and you've had no sleep the last thing you want to do is be waiting ages for a bottle.

Smile
Chookford · 09/01/2015 08:01

I breastfeed my dd for 6wks but struggled as she was such a hungry baby so after that switched to bottle feeding and we were both so much happier! So I plan to do the same again will start of bf and see how we go but will have bottles and the prep machine on stand by just in case, it sounds like a brilliant bit of kit to have esp for night feeds I have read a lot of reviews where they are keeping it next to their beds at night so it's right on hand when baby starts to stir and you dont have to faff about with water temp whilst your baby screams the house down.

jazzyjenbo · 09/01/2015 08:28

I bottle fed ds as he is tongue tied so would not latch but dd b/fed.
I plan to b/feed this time so shouldnt need to use bottles but if i do i may invest that machine, although i never found it that much bother making up bottles.

ChatEnOeuf · 09/01/2015 08:46

Sounds like a Teasmade for babies! Planning on EBF again - DD was one of those charming bottle-refusers so I'm stuffed if this one won't BF, it's all I know Grin

JennyOfOldstones · 09/01/2015 08:48

You have sold it to me bubalou! I am a first timer so no idea about the whole bottle thing but it sounds great for £60. Hoping to bf but best to be prepared for anything!

Jackiebrambles · 09/01/2015 08:56

Morning all
I'm planning to EBF again too but that perfect prep thing sounds amazing for those of you who are FF-ing.

I always thought how do people who FF cope with being woken at god-awful o clock and then having to make up/warm a bottle with a screaming infant!

I gave the odd bottle of formula once DS was beyond 6 months and always got the ready made cartons so I've never actually made up a bottle from the powder.

cuphat · 09/01/2015 09:16

I'm planning on ebf again too (DD only drank bm till 17 months) but I would definitely invest in one of those if I were going to ff as I've only heard good things. I expressed for a few weeks before I was confident enough to feed out and about (so she just had the odd bottle) but then DD became a bottle refuser anyway. I don't think I'm going to bother expressing this time.

I do know from my last antenatal classes that there used to be a different (easier) method of making up formula but they had recently changed it saying that you should ensure water above a certain temperature hits the powder first to ensure the bacteria is killed. Safer but more of a pain apparently.
