That Tomee Tippee machine looks handy. Planning to BF, but not adverse to combine feeding as OH desperately wants to be involved in feeding and being able to put baby down etc. Depending on whether in-laws offer to help pay for a pram, I might get one as a back-up plan!

Am hoping to express but have already bought a pre-mixed bottle of formula just in case BF doesn't go so well, or perhaps for OH if he goes out with baba alone and I haven't been able to express enough etc. Contingency planning!!

I'll be back at work after 6 months, so baby is going to have to get used to bottles anyway, even if I can express.

In other news, I bit the bullet and ordered the baby's cot and mattress yesterday as I figured they were cheap in the January sales. Managed to get a cot bed and sprung mattress for less than £100 so quite pleased!

Came back from the Midwife appt - very quick. She didn't listen to the heartbeat as its "too early". I'm disappointed but I learned I had great iron levels and what blood type I was (I don't know why, but I've always wanted to know that).

Short and sweet and now back at home as I didn't get blown away.

Forty - that's exciting. Great to get such a good deal as well.

comeagainforbigfudge · 09/01/2015 11:06

Mummyosborne1983 yes it is my first and I would do that but I have a tiny assed kitchen (think 2mx2m galley style) so my fridge had to be narrow to fit in gap. It's hard enough fitting food in without trying to fit bottles in as well! I do have a big pot for boiling bottles in to sterilise though as my mum advised Grin

Plus even if I/baby take to bf I have to start med when baby 3 months that baby definitely can't have. And I must have. So it makes sense for us to get it.

Oh Fortyhow exciting! Must press on with operation clear out and redecorate so I can start buying things Grin

If anyone thinking of ordering from a certain company ending with the word 'Care' I'd hold off at the minute. I may be waiting nearly 4 weeks for my large order I've been told and they're taking weeks to dispatch new orders too. Absolute disgrace and no communication on their part unless I chase them. V v disappointed.

Tranquilitybaby · 09/01/2015 11:43

That's a shame you didn't get to hear the heartbeat trying, I read a lot of areas, midwives aren't listening to the heartbeat until 28 weeks appointment now.

Rosie888 · 09/01/2015 12:11

Thanks Jazzy for the stats, doing such a wonderful job!

Was just going to ask you ladies if you had any advice on the best maternity skinny jeans? Are under or over bump best??

SpodoKomodo · 09/01/2015 12:14

That's disappointing trying I had my 16 week appointment earlier in the week and she did a cursory listen but didn't count the HB rate. So I couldn't add any fuel to my old wives theory that it's a boy.

I've definitely noticed that second time round, mw visits are just more of a formality.

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 09/01/2015 12:21

trying I ve always wanted to know my blood group too, I ve no idea why but I seem to be the only person in my group of friends who doesn't know it. I only know my birth weight as my Adoptive Mum out together a baby book for me as she didn't want me to not know the answers to questions that other children would know. Altho I remember my friends thinking I was pretty cool for having two birth certificates.

My friend who had a DS in September has a Perfect Prep machine, it's absolutely brilliant!. She raved about it a lot, so I am thinking of getting one as planning to fb and express so OH can feed too but want to get one just in case, as they are apparently good sellers on eBay if not needed.

cuphat · 09/01/2015 12:27

I can never remember my blood type offhand despite donating blood numerous times and this being my second baby! They're always out of the key-rings.

Not sure about skinny jeans but I love my over the bump trousers - comfiest things ever!

Jackiebrambles · 09/01/2015 12:27

I've got the under the bump skinny jeans at the moment. For me last time they lasted comfortably until perhaps the last month or so?

Then I moved onto other more loose clothing and over the bump trousers!

Over the bump are SO comfy.

On the countdown now until we find out if were team pink or blue - 10 days!

At my 16 week appointment I did a urine sample, she took my blood pressure and she listened to the heartbeat which was nice but she did say not to worry if she couldn't find it straight away but it took her seconds.

I have 2 pairs of under bump skinny jeans from newlook. Very reasonable and comfortable and not frumpy at all.

Over bump are better I find for later in pregnancy.

Smile
Chookford · 09/01/2015 13:05

Over bump for me... So much more comfortable!

fortywinx · 09/01/2015 13:22

That's disappointing trying. I had a proper heartbeat check at 16 weeks without even asking, so I assumed it was a standard thing that they did.

Giving blood is how I found out my blood type! Also how I knew I was in for some delightful rhesus-negative injections through pregnancy. OH is rhesus-positive so it's definitely a risk that baby could be different to me!

I ordered my cot from that company Tranquility. Was free delivery though which I wasn't expecting (I have a friend who decided to collect her cot from store as delivery was extortionate at the time. Her DH had lots of fun carrying the box to the car! XD). Lucky that I'm in no rush for it! Glad I didn't order any maternity wear or anything though. That would be frustrating!

Tranquilitybaby · 09/01/2015 13:25

Hope you get your cot soon forty. It's the lack of communication and the vagueness when I do call that's frustrating me. They can't seem to see the problem with me paying off a £700 bill on my cc, when I don't even have the goods yet. Bizarrely though part of the order has arrived today, an outfit! That's it though. Don't understand why it couldn't all come at once.

Bazza2 · 09/01/2015 13:34

I've got over the bump skinny jeans from H&M and I wear them all the time. Only £15-20 too.

SpodoKomodo · 09/01/2015 13:37

I can't get on with over bump jeans at all.

Any recommendations for under bump skinny jeans? I got some from Topshop (leigh ones I think?) that although comfy, don't do anything for me. H&M ones I got are too tight Blush and every bit of fluff sticks to them.

Then I ordered GAP ones online which turned out to be boyfriend style which looks ridiculous on me.

I gave all my old maternity clothes away, and can't remember which skinny jeans worked for me last time

AnythingNotEverything · 09/01/2015 13:50

Tranquility did you order online? I thought they weren't allowed to take payment until dispatch? Grrrrr though. I also use their click and collect service and it's always late and once or twice they've found my item on the shop floor as they couldn't find my parcel.

I have some H&M over bump skinnies. Very pleased as they're nice and long. Need a bit more bump to hold them up though.

I heard the heartbeat at 16 weeks but the mw said they aren't scheduled to do it until something like 34 weeks. Crazy. I'm not due to see her again now until 28 weeks, which is the 1st April?! Feels like years away. Agree with whoever said appointments are more of a formality this time around.

Nearly time for another new thread. We are a chatty bunch Grin

It was dispatched on Christmas Ece to Citylink, who then obviously went bust. These things happen but the amount of complaints on their fb page is ridiculous now. They've gone for a cheaper courier service instead with no tracking so they have no idea of location of any of the parcels that had to be retrieved from Citylink.

comeagainforbigfudge · 09/01/2015 13:56

I went for over the bump. I have nae bump anyway so im constantly pulling uphipster type trousers. Figured over bump was best. And an extra layer of warmth when it's cold out Smile

Tranquilitybaby · 09/01/2015 13:59

I'm living in leggings at the minute as they're so comfy but have a couple of pairs of jeans I got in the Next sale m. Haven't got enough of a bump to wear them yet

fortywinx · 09/01/2015 14:11

Over bump all the way for me. They keep my belly all snuggly warm lol. Also don't like things digging in under my bump as my muscles are achy there at the moment.

Got H&M over bump skinnies and Matalan jeggings (which are huge but sooo comfy at the moment XD). My work trousers are New Look, they're an over bump/under bump hybrid which can be worn as either. Want to get some maternity leggings for comfort too.

AnythingNotEverything · 09/01/2015 14:42

Oh tranquility that's really shit. Is it worth cancelling and reordering or has the deal gone? I nearly bough a cot from them just before Christmas (to match DD's cot bed) but checked and they weren't discontinuing the style, just doing a promotion so decided to wait. Very glad I did!

Chookford · 09/01/2015 14:54

spodo my mum bought me some under bump jeans from next in the sale and they are very nice actually I'm only 5'2 so struggle with leg length but these are perfect and are true skinny ones but will what until bump is a little bigger before I wear them I think....

tranquility that's a pain the bum isn't it! Hope you have it all sorted soon, they shouldn't have taken the payment though knowing they had delivery backlogs.
