emz try paracetamol and lots of warmed up lemonade (30 seconds in microwave), when I had flu two years ago it really helped my earache, headache and general shit feeling. (Oh and my mum always made me wear a hat when ill, even in bed and randomly that helped too)

ememsmum · 17/12/2014 20:41

Thanks all. I bet my surgery forgot to post it Angry

JennyOfOldstones · 17/12/2014 20:42

I just had a cold too emz it was so miserable. Normally I would take sudafed and carry on but had to take 2 days off work as my nose was so blocked I couldn't sleep. Paracetamol, lockets and hot lemon and honey made it just bearable.

Sorry to hear that cuphat hopefully everything goes smoothly at the scan though. Sometimes these things can't be helped.

Congrats Elizabeth. You must be thrilled.

I love that we are such a chatty bunch. Thanks for the new thread.

Emz1989 · 17/12/2014 22:14

Thanks elizabeth I've never heard of warming up lemonade, I'll definitely try that! Sounds a palaver sorting the free prescriptions, I live in wales so don't have to worry about any of that as we don't pay for prescriptions anyway. Do need to figure out how the free dental treatment works here though!
Wasn't sure if dh would be able to make 12 week scan cuphat and they were actually very good to us and they rearranged for us - would that not be an option this close to xmas?

Kyz · 17/12/2014 22:24

Evening all :) thankyou for the new thread Anything

Scan tomorrow, very nervous and excited! Anyone else have one tomorrow?

tranquility not bought anything yet, but may cave tomorrow if we find out whether we are pink or blue! Other than a small something though it can wait till after xmas (am itching to buy things though!)

Newbie I am still lifting my 25 month old, and he is very big and heavy, he's over 15kg but not by too much. I try not to lift him in and out of his cot or when it isn't really necessary to be lifting him, but sometimes I just have to lift him, it's unavoidable sometimes, if he's hurt himself or is on his way to doing something dangerous (He thinks he can fly).

bless her pas hope she's better soon

bless you forty, do take it easy won't you

ooh phryn that sounds uncomfortable! I have my button undone and zip partially undone most of the time Blush

yes clearly I feel completely fine most of the time but can cry instantly and fly off the handle about little things very easily! my poor dp thought he was going to lose his head yesterday, he left tissue in his pockets and put his clothes in the wash. Anyone listening might've thought he'd done something unforgivable the way I went on. Well, to be fair, he had, it drives me bloody potty!

lovely pic elizabeth glad your scan went well :)

buba i'm 17 weeks tomorrow and have been getting the odd pain, one earlier was around my ribs, felt a bit like stitch or something

nice to hear from you heidi :) glad you had a good scan :)

hope you feel better soon Emz I was told olbas oil/vicks is ok

I would be annoyed too cuphat - i'd want my dp there too! Hope you can sort it out so he can go - is taking a friend so you aren't alone an option? I know it's not the same but it's just a thought

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 17/12/2014 22:28

emz yep warmed up lemonade, paracetamol and a hat was all we used throughout having flu as my mum was never a fan of all the lemsip/nose spray/cold medicine stuff so just just had the above basic supplies.

sparkle we were so relieved once we had seen jellybean on scan, I was more scared of bloods being taken as I ve only ever had it taken twice and both times they needed 6 attempts per time. The lovely nurse in hospital did it first time so mw will arrange that blood is done at hospital in future as my veins are difficult.

Quick question to all, apparently they can give you baby's sex when they give you the NT blood results, is that true ??

jazzyjenbo · 17/12/2014 22:33

Kyz, i was just about to come on and wish you good luck for your scan tomorrow. Ru thinking boy or girl?

I think you are the one scan tomorrow (unless sumones not added date to stats) just rosie888 left on friday and we should all be scanned? Afew ppl not updated scan results, hope ur ok?

I've just been busily updating stats from last few days... Not sure what had happened but it was all a rumbled mess so has just taken me ages to re order, aline and add the colours back on. (Lol, its become abit of a hobby keeping track of you all now!)

NoCupcakes - you are not on the stats. If you would like adding let me know your age, current dc ages, edd, will you find out?, 12 week scan date, 16 week date, gender scan date?, 20 week scan date.

Emz, he's away for a week before the scan date and a week after so it's not likely they'll give me one early or late enough but I'll ask anyway. I think there's one day he could make. I'm sure they'll roll eyes that I've waited a week to try and rearrange.

Kyz, I don't have anyone here, we live hours away from everyone. No friends that are close enough that I'd ask them.

Good luck Kyz and anyone else with scans coming up.

I've been quite ill for five weeks in total since I've been pregnant (bad cold/sore throat/cough). Nothing I have tried has worked. I had to take paracetamol for a short time when my temperature went high but I have suffered the rest of the time. Horrible, isn't it. At the gender scan the sonographer said it looked like baby was coughing at one point. Don't even think it's possible for them to catch colds before they're born, is it, but it's played on my mind a bit.

Elizabeth, I've never heard of anyone getting told the sex with the NT blood results.

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 17/12/2014 22:55

cuphat I hadn't either but a friend said it could be done, I think she's got confused as I can't find anything on internet saying it's possible.

Jazzy thanks for keeping us in line. We ought to add a link to the stats to one of the first posts in a new thread. I couldn't do it on my phone from work earlier (such a skiver at the mo!), but it's be useful to have it at the start so we could find it easily.

Totally TMI, but I think I have a haemorrhoid. Urgh. Hope I don't have 6 months of this fun to look forward to! Hopefully if I up my water intake and avoid constipation it'll go away ...

Thanks all for your reassurance! Think in future when someone offers 'advice' I will just smile and nod and do what is sensible anyway!

I've been told I'm getting my anomaly scan at 18 weeks so it's on 7th Jan. Questioned if they would be able to see everything but they told me cos I'm slim it will be fine, could have kissed the consultant as I feel like a whale and look rubbish, ha ha.....it's the small things isn't it!

So glad scans are going well and teenie if you are still checking in, we are all thinking of you. Xxx

jazzyjenbo · 18/12/2014 00:08

Anything, it is unlikely to go away until after the pregnancy now i'm afraid., but get onto ur dr and get sum cream to apply which will ease it.. I'd do this even if its not causing any discomfort/pain atm.
The progesterone increases the size of them... I got one after pushing dd out, it strunk but has come back now.... I'll find my cream and add the name as its fantastic!
I will get onto pc and add stats link tomorrow, i'm honestly not bothered about keeping track though, most ppl are only on ipad/phone so it cannot be updated.

jazzyjenbo · 18/12/2014 00:19

Its called scheriproct.

Late night worry from me... Mentioned on monday i've developed thrush, first time ever! Dr gave me caniston (external cream) to use for the itch but actual discharge is the same. Just been for a wee and got lots of pinky/brown discharge/watery liquid on wiping. I'm 16+4, not sure if i should be worried, think i can feel movement but this is how my mmc started in jan at 10 weeks with brown on wiping!!! Anyone else had this with thrush. Sorry to moan!!Confused

cuphat · 18/12/2014 07:51

Sunbathing, I can't even test that theory as they just said I was low risk and that was it. Last time I was given odds of 1 in 14,000 but that was based on the later blood test you have and they have now changed to the combined scan and early blood test. Apparently the midwife will give further info but mine didn't have any and I spent ages trying to get through to the results dept and had to give up as their phone just cuts you off.

Jazzy, hopefully it's nothing but call your midwife if you're concerned.

Jackiebrambles · 18/12/2014 07:57

Morning all, thanks for the new thread!

Sorry to hear that Jazzy, I've not had thrush so don't know whether that would cause the discharge you are having. Maybe give your midwife a call or the doc that prescribed the cream for you?

I had the day off yesterday to do some shopping and then by the afternoon I felt awful - then spent a few hours throwing up!! Must have been a bug or something I ate perhaps.

Feel weak today and still in bed but will work from home as I can't afford another day off - I'm finishing for Xmas tomorrow!

Still haven't told my boss as I haven't seen him yet, I'll now be doing it just before I leave for the Xmas break, eek!

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/12/2014 08:14

Told work on Tuesday. All seems very complicated as I'm in the unusual position of being a temp who is directly employed by them. They don't seem to know what to do with me. Which is not ideal.

Showed my mum my little bump yesterday, she laughed and said it looks like I have wind! It seems noticeable to me because my stomach was always so flat before.

Seem to have more energy in the last week or so but perhaps staying up until nearly midnight every night was ambitious of me. So tired. Genuinely don't know how any of you who already have children are managing!

Jackiebrambles · 18/12/2014 08:27

With a lot of help from DH! I don't know how others do it. Hopefully with family help? We've got no family nearby.

I had to call him to ask him to pick up DS from nursery and do dinner/bedtime yesterday as I was so weak and throwing up. Thank god he was able to do it.

morning ladies.

can't believe we're down to final initial scans. it's all moving quickly now. Grin

I'm driving to Heathrow tonight (as I live in Sheffield that's a long ass drive) for our Berlin flights tomorrow morning. have to drop the cat off at the cattery at lunch and hope I don't cry! I'm a bit of a nervous flyer so I hope I don't throw up or pass out.
