New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

OP posts:

Sorry if I sounded grumpy earlier - I'm not a misery guts, just a busy woman who has trouble fitting it all in and hate inefficiency

Kitty will scan your new thread.

Hi Morocco - nice to hear from you. I'll have two boys and one girl too

23+1 (boy, already have DS 6 and DD 3)

Rosybumpily · 06/11/2006 19:01

Hey laidback I need your fun attitude about knowing the sex and partner not. I'm all upset and lonely about it. I keep hoping dd will drop the information! I am going to try and follow your example and lighten up a bit.
If I could get a nights sleep it would help with my grumpiness problem of course!

22wks 1 I think (boy)

cath29 · 06/11/2006 20:42

piffle good luck with your scan, just tell the sonographer on the way in to wink once for a boy, twice for a girl.. with dd i really wanted to know the sex and my partner didn't, we were still discussing it in the scan itself (we never could agree on anything lol) but then they said at UCH they couldn't tell you the sex anyway because they'd had so many problems with muslim men throwing their wives down the stairs if they were carrying a girl not a boy i was quite , i live in the west country now tho so finding out the sex was easier lol..

rosy don't worry at least your partner wants to know about the baby sorry that's probably not very helpful.. all i mean is, if he wants a surprise it isn't the end of the world is it? have you asked him about why he doesnt' want to know in advance? some people are funny about it and say it is tempting fate or something, personally i've always thought it's nice to know in advance but some people just don't want to.. have you got a good girlfriend you can talk baby clothes/colours with maybe? i bet he'll come round in a few weeks and ask you anyway!

i went shopping for maternity clothes today ended up just getting a load of topshop stuff, mostly not maternity range, just big jumper type things and jumper dresses which look relatively ok when you're pregnant.. desperately need to get some more trousers tho! it was so freezing today here, i really pined for a big thick coat, all ive got is these long cardigan type things... has anyone actually bought a nice maternity coat? i don't like the topshop one..

divastrop · 06/11/2006 21:54

i didnt even ask dp if he wanted to find out the sex-i'm carrying the baby so i figured it was up to me if i wanted to know the make.
i have always found out the sex but always only bought white clothes before the birth just in case

the only place that sells maternity clothes now where i live is new look, and they arent very nice.im still getting by with 2 pairs of strechy jeans and 2 long tops but im fast growing out of them.and im skint.i should really save for this time of year

cath29 · 06/11/2006 22:05

lol divastrop do you always have your babies at the same time of year? .. my scan was so clear that i think it's safe for me to buy boys clothes in advance!

Rosybumpily · 06/11/2006 22:13

I'm just really pissed off with my long distance scenario at the moment. It is crap, though of course Cath, part-time is better than your current situation. Anyway I do have lovely friends and sisters and my kids torture me at night but they are all delightful.

There's no way I want to spend a penny on maternity clothes! Its christmas! So I shall trog around in my mothers slacks and mens jumpers and thats it.

With dd I actually gave birth in my mothers trousers on the trolley in the hospital corridor. Then I just relaxed and chuckled as I watched the mw's going into a mad panic. Dh was in m&s at the time.

You know my mother then washed the trousers and wore them again after that! (she was a war child)

cath29 · 06/11/2006 22:37

your mother sounds like quite a lady!!

yeah the long-distance thing must be hard. i've just been talking to a good friend who is 10 weeks pg her dh works away from home a lot, she was saying how tough she is finding her dd and when he comes back, he just expects her to look after him, too! i found myself thinking, at least i don't have to clean up after a man right now

hope you're ok rosy. and seriously i bet he'll change his mind about wanting to know!!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 07/11/2006 09:04

Rosy, do you find your children act differently when DP is around? Friends of mine who have partners who are away a lot, say their kids really play up when DP is not there?

LOL at your Mum, I'm really stingy and am forever sewing holes up in hand me down tights for DD etc so can really relate to that war child thing. About 60% of my kids clothes are hand me downs - the rest are a blend of Primark and Boden sales LOL

Hi everyone else

Cath - how are you feeling today?

muppetisacat · 07/11/2006 10:35

I'm confused (in many ways!) but don't know what LOL means!

22+3 (boy)

divastrop · 07/11/2006 12:22

lol-laugh out loud.i thought'text-speak' was frowned upon on MN?

divastrop · 07/11/2006 12:59

hello

all i can say is i hate money,ex's and christmas.bah humbug.

cath-i have dd2's birthday on dec 6th,dd1's on dec 8th and ds1's on jan 14th.none of them were planned
hope everybody is ok

21+6-girl

Booboobedoo · 07/11/2006 13:15

Afternoon everyone.

Got about four hours sleep last night due to 'discomfort' (stupid word). Am shattered.

Hope those with SPD aren't suffering too much today.

LO appears to be doing the conga most of the time at the moment. Apparently, s/he can open his/her eyes now too. How cute.

EDD 3/3
23+2

harktheheraldfoxessing · 07/11/2006 13:27

Oooh that means mine can open his little peepers too

Colleague at work just told me that he and his wife (aged 42) are having expecting their 4th in May. Am starting to get jealous. I instantly screached "I want four!!!" Must be the hormones or something LOL

harktheheraldfoxessing · 07/11/2006 13:28

BoBoo - did your baby keep you awake dancing all night?

harktheheraldfoxessing · 07/11/2006 13:29

Can we have a quick and dirty poll?:

How many times do you have to get up and pee during an average night at the moment?

Me = 4 times

kittywits · 07/11/2006 13:48

Me none, even though my bladder is fit to burst and I dream about toilets, I'm too tired to get out of bed

kittywits · 07/11/2006 13:50

I'm currently working on a fancy dress costume for ds1 only prob is it's davy Jones out of pirates of the carribean 2, having probs with the tentacles, have gone out and bought loads of tights to stuff

divastrop · 07/11/2006 14:28

just looked at the house.very nice and large,dp said 'we'll take it'(i was glad as he said what i was thinking).it has 4 decent size bedrooms, living room, dining room and 'breakfast room'(!)...ok so its opposite a cabaret bar and a sex shop but that isnt an issue for me.

fox-i am waking up with chest-infection baby 1 or 2 times a night, and ds2 has started waking when hes pee'd in his nappy(im not doing the out of night time nappy thing with him till dd2's better!)so i have a pee when i get up,3 times a night.

LaidbackinAsia · 07/11/2006 14:44

Diva ...the house sounds great !! .... I lived above a brothel once (above I tell you ) ... they were interesting neighbours !

Piffle - any news from your scan yet ?

Fox - peeing once a night at the moment , normally queued (sp) by being woken up by my DS sleepwalking, DS2 wanting a drink or DH snoring. Great !

cath29 · 07/11/2006 15:51

diva @ 'that isn't an issue for me' your posts always make me giggle .. your new house sounds wonderful. when you gonna move?

i always use 'lol'. guess it comes from when i used to go on chatrooms. i've seen lots of people use it on MN haven't i

i pee all the time anyway even when i'm not pregnant. only get up once in the night currently thank god. but i ALWAYS get up, even if i'm really careful to drink nothing for 3 hours before i go to bed mostly it feels like sleepwalking tho

thanx fox for asking how i am; i'm ok this afternoon. just saw my friendly midwife and feel a lot better. quizzed her about low-lying placentas and possible birthing partners; she was ultra-friendly and kept saying 'you're doing really well', which is everyone's general line, they don't see me sobbing or going back to bed after taking dd to nursery (as i did this morning) instead of working (working at home has this possible dis/advantage!) and just staring at the wall thinking about my dp..... it's been good the thread about it on MN though i'm thinking of changing my name on here, what if his sister comes on and reads it?! think she might identify me .. i'm thinking of rainbowgirl seriously i like it

cath29 · 07/11/2006 15:52

kitty hope your school run goes better today

rainbowgirl · 07/11/2006 16:11

ok i feel safer now

kittywits · 07/11/2006 16:26

Thankyou rainbow girl, yes it was better today. i think i just start to get v. tired at about 3.30, I always have done, even before kids, it's a real down perieod for me. So easy to lose little people!

divastrop · 07/11/2006 17:05

the HA have to come and look at our house first to see if any repairs need doing etc then we go in about the tenancy next week if all is well.dont know where we are going to find the money to move though.last time i moved it only cost me £25 cos i was exchanging with somebody.

the cabaret bar used to be a dodget nightclub but i was closed for 2 years and recently re-opened but now has a cafe/bar downstairs and a cabaret venue upstairs.i dont have an issue with sex shops,i have an issue with newsagents that sell lad's mags where my kids can see them

i used to go on chat sites on WAP all the time and text lots of people so i still find myself using lol etc.

kitty-did u finish the costume?i cant even sew a button on so i take my hat off to you

Eva1977 · 07/11/2006 17:27

Piffle, how did your scan go? Did you manage to find out the sex???

Boo, I am also sleeping extremely badly at the mo - just dont know how to lie...

During the day I need the loo about once an hour, at least. During the night I am usually too cold and too tired to get up, although bladder is bursting.

Felt v. pg today. lo kicking a lot (which is nice) but also v. tired, heartburn and lower back pain - oh, and constipated too. had a few horrible classes today, so maybe its the stress causing it??? Also, when I did a big sneeze I weed myself!!! Not a very dignified feeling! Must do pelvic floor exercises more often!!!

Told my tutor group (Year 7?s) today that I was pregnant well they guessed really. And there was so much whispering going on in the corridors already, I thought it was nicer for them to hear it from me than as a rumour from someone else?.

They got v. excited and when I said it was going to be a boy, they were throwing names at me what we could call him. I told them that it must be a name that?s nice in both German and English, so the suggestions I have had so far are (all suggested by boys): Juergen, Oliver, Franz, Jens, Michael, Lothar, Arne and a few others? all of course first names of German footballers
