New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

yes divastrop i have seen it, but thanx! it's a bit worrying considering my placenta thing as well!! i just don't have a choice. but i'm not sure how i will manage to do it with little stress. it will be quite a challenge!

eva, congratulations!

kitty, i'm managing to chill out quite successfully so all is not lost. going to put my feet up and watch crap telly and lie in tomorrow morning

spinningkittywheel · 04/11/2006 20:17

Horray Cath

Eva1977 · 04/11/2006 20:30

thanx for the name suggestions, kitty! I think my problem is that I am also incredibly choosy with names - the meaning has to be right (i.e. "Thomas" means twin, so not suitable), should not be too common. And the worst is there are quite a few names I like but dont want to use, as there are very horrible kids at my school with those names (e.g. Joshua, Jake. Nevermind - I am certain we will find a name before he is born!!

Kity, Where did you live in Germany? I am from Lueneburg (near Hamburg).

Diva, yes dh is a Lancaster uni - he is really enjoying the city and surrounding areas - hes a keen climber so plenty of oportunities there!

Right, I am off to bed - very tired today and have to make most of the nights where I can still decide when to sleep and when to be awake

spinningkittywheel · 04/11/2006 20:51

Eva I was north of düsseldorf, between there and münster. My German's very rusty now .
Will you speak to your baby in German?

eidsvold · 04/11/2006 22:16

muppet - yes i am in brisbane - spent most of my life here apart from about 10 years when I lived out west, nth qld and england.

Booboobedoo · 04/11/2006 22:34

Hi everyone.

Congrats on your boy Eva! And glad you decided to stay with us Cath.

Managed to teach this morning, then ate lunch and had to go and throw up in a public loo. Have resigned myself to the fact that it's not going to stop.

At least I'm mobile now.

Having this baby is going to be such a relief. Not throwing up any more will be worth any number of sleepless nights.

Only three weeks until I'm in the 3rd trimester!

Went to a lovely firework display in our park last night. It was great. We could see the millenium eye and the houses of parliament all lit up in the distance. Baby was very peaceful all though the fireworks - maybe s/he'll love them as much as I do.

Eva - I've got an Oliver, and know a German guy who's also an Oliver. I also know a German Alexander. No idea if they're actually common in Germany or not though.

OP posts:
Eva1977 · 05/11/2006 08:55

LumarSea, we both like Oliver - but my best friend's boy is also called Oliver....and SIL is called Alexandra, so Alexander would probably be too close

keep name idea coming though

Boo, when I hear your story I do feel blessed that I did not have a major problem with sickness - and any nausea I had has pretty much disappeared now.

Kitty, I was born in Muenster! And yes, we will be speaking German at home. Will have to make sure to find English playgroups from beginning so that baby gets exposed to English as well. I always envied friends who grew up with two languages!!

Hope everyone's having a nice sunday and isn't dreading Mondays as much as I am !!

Eva1977 · 05/11/2006 09:20

anybody else suffering from heartburn yet??? Never had it before in my life, but feel like my chest might explode .

any suggestions??? I don't really eat big meals. Read to avoid peppermint tea - which I drink a lot so might have to find a different herbal tea.

Oh, and braxton hicks: I only realised that I must be experiencing them as well when I read Foxies description...was starting to wonder my by tummy went all hard every now and then

cath29 · 05/11/2006 11:58

Eva i've just started to get really bad heartburn, it's horrible gaviscon is meant to be good and safe to take in pregnancy, can't remember if you said you live in germany or england tho?

i've still got some nausea and often retch still though i'm not actually vomiting anymore, it only stopped a couple of weeks ago though, god knows why it goes on so long, so Boo my heart goes out to you too! it is the most horrible thing in the world!!

i am about to go and pick up my dd, has been strange having a weekend pretty much without her, actually feel i've maybe had too much time to think..

i've had an idea re. my dp what does everyone think, i feel i'm being too dependent on his emails and getting upset when he doesn't email and it's all so pathetic because i don't even know where the f* he is, so i thought maybe i would lock the email account and just check it in a month.. it's hotmail so i could just set up another one, and get someone i trust to change my password so i can't get into my original account.. i work freelance so with that and various other things (including MN now! lol) i spend a lot of time on the computer, it would be good to feel free of it.. not sure if i am strong enough tho..

my little man was moving around a LOT last night, i can't find my old pregnancy pillow thing so am going to have to invest in another one, i know this conversation has happened already but can anyone post a link to some good ones?

muppetisacat · 05/11/2006 12:07

Eva - my heartburn has reared up just this past week and I find that drinking ice cold water helps a little - I have no idea if this is a proper remedy but the burning I feel is so intense my natural reaction is to want to douse the firey feeling with something cold!!

I have to add however, it comes back a short while after so I can't claim it's a miraculous cure!

Eidsvold - you lucky thing! You'll be soaking up some sunshine no doubt. It was -1C here the other day. My bump was very cold whilst walking the dog... must get a bigger coat...

22+1 (boy)

muppetisacat · 05/11/2006 12:12

Eva - don't know really know much of your story other than your dp left you... clearly he knows you're pregnant - is that why he left? Don't want to pry but hard to advise when I know nothing about your circumstances.

On the face of it there is a lot of truth in the stoicism philosophy ie, doing everything you can to remain as balanced as possible. Anything that disturbs that balance and intrudes on your thoughts, for example, waiting around for someone to email you etc, would be a major upset to any harmony you may have acheived earlier in the day! If you were strong enough to remove yourself from his influence, you may find it easier to slowly re-order yourself... I don't know I'm no counsellor...

cath29 · 05/11/2006 12:18

presume that was for me not Eva thanx muppet, i think you're right, that is exactly what happens, i get myself together then i fall apart again with the contact or lack of it. this weekend i was really upset because he knows i had the scan on fri and hasn't even bothered to ask how it went. it is so upsetting. i've got a thread in lone parents from a couple of weeks back 'does anyone predict a happy ending?' if you want to read more! but it isn't a very happy story!

muppetisacat · 05/11/2006 12:25

Oops - yes - Brain on automatic and mis-typed. Sorry Cath and Eva.
Will read up on your thread and see whether I can come up with any bright ideas...

divastrop · 05/11/2006 12:37

cath-i cant really comment on your situation as i dont know whether its a good idea for you to be in touch with your dp or not.does he know ur expecting his baby?

boo-sorry to hear youre still being sick.i still get the odd bout of sickness, and the start of this preg was worse than any of my previous for sickness, but it must be awful to have it constantly for 9 months.what do you teach?

ive been getting a bit of heartburn but not as bad as last time.i didnt bother with gaviscon,i used to find drinking a glass of milk helped.

hope everybody else is ok.

divastrop · 05/11/2006 12:39

x posts, cath i will read your thread later when i get back from taking ds2 somewhere to get rid of some of his energy.

spinningkittywheel · 05/11/2006 14:24

Lucky me I went to ASDA today and found it very difficult to move round everyone with the old trolly, then I realised that bump had certainly grown and that I was indeed stating to waddle.

Has anyone else here had compound presentations? I was wondering what the liklihood is of having them again. The last 2 of my vag births have been compound deliveries.

guyfoxie · 05/11/2006 14:59

Kitty - not sure what they are actually?

Eva and Cath - two more boys, how lovely

Cath, great to have you back. I was hoping you'd be back when I logged on I also have a low lying placenta and have to have another scan at 36 weeks. But the midwife said that 99% move up as the pregnancy progresses. So try not to worry, as the chances are it won't be a problem.

I think its a good idea to try and avoid looking at that account, if you get your hopes up each time, only to be dissapointed. Sounds like he's keeping you on a string by keeping contact but not letting you know his whereabouts . That's so unfair on you, specially when you are carrying is baby. The Bustard! Will look at your thread

BooBoo - you poor thing, being so sick still

Hi, everyone else.

Am I the only one who is totally knackered at the moment?

guyfoxie · 05/11/2006 15:00

oooops: 23 weeks (boy )

spinningkittywheel · 05/11/2006 15:31

No, Fox you're not the only one. I'm so tired I spend alot of time walking around with only one eye open
Compound presentaions are when more than just the head presents itelf at crowing, usually a hand/arm.
DD2 came out like superman and dd3 had a fist pushed into her cheek and an elbow poking out sideways.

divastrop · 05/11/2006 15:33

cath-i have just posted on your thread.sorry if you cant make head nor tail of what i was going on about

kitty-my bump is growing and has told my arse the baby is really a girl so that part is growing also

ds2 just announced his trousers were wet.i said 'have you done a wee?'and he said 'NO!ive done a wee-wee!'
ok then

muppetisacat · 05/11/2006 16:32

Kitty - my second birth with ds was compound - he also came out like superman - hand first - arm locked straight. DH said it was like someone climbing out of a pothole...

Don't think it's the sort of thing that predisposes you to another - but it was easier than my dd's birth who gave me a face presentation...

What on earth will this one come up with I wonder... probably breech (I really shouldn't be joking about this should I!)

Rosybumpily · 05/11/2006 20:17

I'm a grumpy cow today. Its the full moon. My sense of humour has gone out the window.

My spd is troubling me today. Its in my pubic area aswell as hips today and really hurts to walk, the house is a mess and this house has three storeys, the childrens room being at the top...sigh.

Oh well, my lovely sister fed us a yummy dinner today.

I've started to get slight heartburn, its horrible but I've got my gaviscon ready!

22 weeks today (boy)

divastrop · 05/11/2006 20:32

ah so its the full moon thats making me narky!dp and i have been biting each others heads off all day.he couldnt sleep last night and when he finally did go to sleep dd2 woke up.that was 3am.then ds2 wanted to get up at 5.45am.i am constipated again and i have caught dd2's cough so every time i breathe in i cough and pee myself...grrr.nothing whatsoever can get through my immune system when im not pregnant, but when i am its a nightmare.
add to that the fact that i dont like fireworks since i had one thrown at me when i was 10...and the neighbours accross the back have been letting them off since 6.30.they are in a small back yard (20ft long tops) and swigging cans of carling.
