New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

Which hospital will you be in for the birth?

kittythescarygoblin · 11/10/2006 13:11

My dad's family are from Birmingham and Shrewsbury so I've got a soft spot for the midlands.

LunarSea · 11/10/2006 13:12

Amie/Annie - we should do a Warwickshire/March 2007 meetup sometime. I'm just on the edge of Leamington!

Well I was at Walsgrave for dd3 (dd1 & 2 southerners like me!). I didn't like it there, so am vaguely considering a home birth. DH thinks our bedroom is too small.

There is a Midlands meet up planned but it's not that near to me. We could easily do our own I guess?

spongecake · 11/10/2006 13:15

hi there- it can't be raining everywhere! assuming everyone in the UK...hi to sri lanka its raining here but v gently. am still revising, last exam 2moro.thank goodness... have come out in huge spots- i never get spots!!! not even when i was a teenager! one huge boily thing on my forehead and another near my lip. lovely....

RabidZombieAmie · 11/10/2006 13:23

Small small world!

I can't believe your so close Lunar! Will you be going to Warwick Hospital?

Spongecake... welcome to spotty Hell! and good luck for your exam!

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 11/10/2006 13:26

I had the choice of Warwick, but would had to go there for scans etc. At Walsgrave i can have scans etc at Rugby. I am considering the home birth but I'm scared TBH (not that birth is anything to be scared of, but you know what I mean!!!)

What would be ideal is if the dds went to bed, I gave birth 10 mins later, then we all wake up the next day with a baby in the house.

LunarSea · 11/10/2006 13:37

annie - can't you just wait until the routine scans are over and then say you've thought about it and can you go for Warwick after all? Meriden's still pretty easy to get to from Rugby - just up the M6/M42 - if you want to do that meetup. But no reason why we can't do our own mini meetup a bit more locally too.

Amie - yes planning on Warwick.

Annie - "What would be ideal is if the dds went to bed, I gave birth 10 mins later, then we all wake up the next day with a baby in the house." That sounds perfect..

Is there a limit to how much gaviscon you can take?

divastrop · 11/10/2006 15:01

i had fantasies of going into natural labour the night before i got induced last time, when all the kids were in bed and i'd just go for a wee and the baby would fall out in the bathroomit didnt happen.
i had a dream last night that i went for my scan and after spending 5 hours getting to the hospital i ended up in the doctors surgery where i used to go when i was a kid,and they told me i wasnt pregnant cos there was no baby in there

annie-thanks for the link i will have a look now before i pick up the little horrors

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 11/10/2006 15:50

Hi - following the very impressive and imaginative names you have chosen; decided mine needed "sexing up".

Piffle - you've got that horrible bug, you poor thing

Whoowhoo - what did your GP say about the bleed from your vomiting?

Aime - congrats on your BUMP

Diva - that walk you did in the monastry sounds lovely I could do with some of that right now.

Watched a DVD this morning at work produced by young black boys in Harlesden, it was so poignant and depressing. There were 14 year olds with guns (future yardies, corpses or convicts?). It was soo sad

dollyp · 11/10/2006 15:59

Hello. Another quick one from me as I have to leave work in just a second to pick up DD. Still haven't had time to read all your messages. Looking forward to getting back on line at home so I can keep up. Hope everyone is well and happy.

Booboo - shall I meet you at 4pm tomorrow at Mimosa? I'll be pushing a brown buggy with a curly blonde haired child in it. I am tall, mousey hair (must get the highlights appt in the diary now I have stopped vomiting), probably in jeans and a very knackered barbour. I will be wearing a red rose in my lapel and carrying a copy of Pregnancy and Birth magazine. Or maybe not. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Love to all XXXX

pennygaff · 11/10/2006 16:46

Wow been away for a while and its all new names! Hello to all I haven't seen before.

evilanniedividedin2byalargeaxe · 11/10/2006 16:47

pennygaff I was here before but this is my new scary Halloween name. WoooooOOOOOOOooooooo!!!

Whoowhoobewhooooooh · 11/10/2006 16:51

Dolly: tomorrow sounds great. I'll prob be wearing green trousers and a blue top (blue and green should never be seen - I know), dark glasses, a black rain-coat and a trilby.

Scrap the last three, obviously. (I've also got short brown hair, which looks crap cause I'm growing it).

Looking forward to meeting you, and having a massive slab of tortilla.

Foxinbubbles: GP said it was Mallory Weiss syndrome (tear in the oesophagus), nothing to worry about, and prescibed me some Gaviscon .

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 11/10/2006 17:00

Penny - me too, I was fat and now I am scary woooooowoooooo

Whoowhoo - Godd news about GP's diagnosis, still sounds really painful though

RabidZombieAmie · 11/10/2006 17:02

hmmm tortilla

divastrop · 11/10/2006 17:16

fox-the walk was wet.i spent all morning chasing after a 3 yr old who refuses to wear wellies but loves jumping in puddles(and who could probably outrun lynford christie).

i think ds and dd2 have chest infections.ds2 always throws up with the force of the cough(sorry for tmi)when he has one..i have just cleared his tea up off the floor.

im going to go and sit in the corner sulking now.somebody come and get me when its march

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 11/10/2006 17:19

hello all...
RE: new mat legislation
Lunar and TheBlonde are right ? on the Statutory procedures. I was confused as we typically start maternity leave when the baby has arrived, and allow for up to 20 days lee way. The company picks up the bill, we also enhance the payments above statutory for additional six weeks...

Frankly if any of you need help with TUPE or a Merger Acquistion, or you get fired I am your lady, but Maternity is something I left behind ages ago ! (that?s my excuse)

Legal have suggested that you could request your GP to indicate your due date for 1st April on MATB1. This would be especially true for those of you who have had experience of delays in EDD. The cost of missing the 1st April due date is £1200?. So its worth it. By the way there is a debate raging about this and I expect some case law to challenge the EDD and MATB1.

In a nutshell the new legislation:
? doubles the amount of notice required from one to two months for women wanting to change their return to work dates from maternity leave
? introduce up to 10 'Keeping in Touch' days to allow mothers to go into work without bringing their leave to an end or losing out on maternity pay
? extend the eligibility for additional maternity leave to all pregnant employees where births are due on or after 1 April 2007.
? Give employed fathers a new right to up to 26 weeks Additional Paternity Leave some of which could be paid, if the mother returns to work. This will be introduced alongside the extension of maternity pay to 12 months.

The DTI website has a great guide.

www.dti.gov.uk/employment/employment-legislation/employment-guidance/page34236.html

cant frinking work the link.

Sorry for long post - but had to get that straight for us, as I made a hash of it last night. Bugger !

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 11/10/2006 17:22

FANTASTIC. I have some fellow boil buddies.
Welcome WaspElly
Rosy heh-heh recruiting me some friends hey!
Amie - sorry.

That magniesium stuff works by the way.

Sorry to hijack, will read your posts all later, dying to see how you are all today.

Oh - we got another crank call last night, and he left two messages. DH is on the case.

morocco · 11/10/2006 17:38

some of you sound very clued up!! my brain died a while back do you think the gp would mind changing the edd on the mat form and when do we get our mat forms?? when I first went to the gp I got a form to send off for the free prescriptions - was that it? I don't think I kept a copy of it. Maybe I will alter my date in the notes by a month and see if anyone notices .

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 11/10/2006 17:45

Morrocco - your MATB1 should be given to you around now actually 20 - 24 weeks preggy. Your midwife or GP give it to you.
Its the form you take to your employer which kicks off the mat payments and paid time off, from a Statutory point of view (ie:goverment payments) your company may have a different, or enhanced way of doing things, which may supersede the Statutory thing (statutory is meant to protect us preggies)

Your GP or Midwife may refuse to change your date. But its worth asking.

Have a look at that link I posted. This is a good guide as far as I can see.

Hope that helps

TheBlonde · 11/10/2006 17:46

morocco - MATB1 won't have been issued to you yet.
The earliest that this certificate may be issued by your doctor or midwife is 20 weeks before the week in which your baby is due (around the 21st week of your pregnancy).
