Tanny, my work only give SMP... Apart from the 6w at 90% is the same as maternity allowance, I think.

A bit crap...

tannyLoo · 09/12/2014 20:32

28 weeks exactly x

If she stays in, hope she gets her DH to update us

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 09/12/2014 20:33

tiny thats what I get too 6 weeks at 90% then something like £138 a week

TinyTear · 09/12/2014 20:35

Yep, SMP...

My company is very good but not many extra perks... I envy my friends who gets months at full pay and then half pay... Bah

OP posts:
tannyLoo · 09/12/2014 20:35

It really is, isn't it? At my old employers I got 12 weeks enhanced before going down to stat, so this feels like a huge drop...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 09/12/2014 20:47

Ive managed to save a few hundred to tide us over but im still worried, im the main earner so its going to be tight.

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/12/2014 20:55

Thanks for the new thread Tiny

Little I hope that you are ok

LondonSuperTrooper · 09/12/2014 20:56

I'm also only getting SMP only :(

LIG1979 · 09/12/2014 21:23

Hello!!! Thanks for doing the new thread tiny.

Tanny -sounds stressful. I always thought with Santander you could switch to interest only but had to pay £50. Hopefully the CAB will be able to think of options for you.

Chilli - no judgement either. I intend to use my pre - baby maternity leave to sort out my cv as I think I have reached the end of my current role and would like to return to a different job.

Little - hope it is going ok today. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Tiny - that nanny share idea sounds good. I am thinking about that as an option for when I return as dd will be starting school sept 16 and I worry about her being at school for 10 hours a day as she will be one of the younger ones in the year and needs alot of sleep compared to her friends. I thought a nanny could be a little calmer than after school club and easier for me than doing 2 drop offs and pick ups.

Just had a date day with dh and I am shattered. Feel quite sick but hoping it is from too much chocolate and not enough rest. Have spent lots of time with dh recently which has been nice as often we don't see each other much as he does shifts and it is rare to have so much childfree time.

Shetland · 09/12/2014 21:38

Thanks tiny

I'm lucky to get 6 months at 50% pay - I didn't realise SMP only was so common until recently :(

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 09/12/2014 22:43

thanks for the shiny new thread.

chiliplant · 09/12/2014 23:31

Thanks all. Their really isn't any other choice for me..I dread seeing my boss everyday. We are not particularly well off but I just want t feel happy again!
I think my bump has really popped out over the last week or so. Crazy!

Jetpackplease · 10/12/2014 14:22

Thanks for the new thread!

Another one here who only gets SMP Sad It's so shit. I want to take off the whole year but money will be very tight so we'll have to see how it goes. I also want to look for a new job - or even better, a whole new career - while I'm off. I hate my current employer and no longer enjoy what I do... just no idea what I want to do instead Confused

Everyone is commenting on how big my bump is now - worried I'm growing a giant in here! I have an anterior placenta though, so still only feeling movements sporadically. DH is getting impatient to feel kicks too. I still can't really believe there's a whole other person inside me, but my massive belly makes it hard to ignore!

I keep getting told how huge I am to, to be honest I think whatever size you are people have an opinion, its never a " you look lovely " its nearly always a " you look massive " or " you are so small" I say just ignore them and enjoy it!!

Yesterday I managed to get an hours nap in in the early evening, its been a few weeks since thats happened, but It was so good!

LIG1979 · 10/12/2014 17:14

I am huge this time too. Although last time I had growth scans for a small bump and even then people would still comment on how big my bump was. One person even said the other day that I am the same size as when I gave birth last time (which I think is an exaggeration.) I sometimes think people feel they should comment on the size of my bump and comment either way.

I am fortunate in that I get full pay for 6 months. My work are very family friendly (to both men and women) and that is part of the reason I am still here. I am hoping for an internal move when I get back as I would need a very large pay increase to justify the loss of flexibility from paying for 2 more days childcare. If I can stay in the company I could quite easily change from 5 in 4 to 5 days with a couple of early afternoons to do school pick up in the future. I have however been stuck in my role for longer than I would like (because of TTC, mcs and maternity leave) and because I took the role from just me with an idea to being a proper department and did it gradually, I never got a formal promotion and so earn a lot less than I should. (I was told they would give me a pay rise when I got back from maternity leave but management changed and it never materialised and my new boss refused.) However, I do know I am very lucky in my current position.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 10/12/2014 19:02

Ive got a large bump, I hadnt realised how big it had got till I caught myself in the mirror yesterday whilst coming down the stairs at work, sideways on its huge now.

saw the midwife this morning, everythings fine with beany, she agreed that the glucose test at 33 weeks is to late and would be pointless so shes going to get it changed to 28 weeks.

has anyone heard from little?

Shetland · 10/12/2014 19:56

I feel my bump is smaller that at this stage last time - with DD2 some did the whole 'ooh, you've not long to go!' when I was 6 months! 6 months. I nearly cried. I was pretty huge though - I feel quite tidy this time.

Hope little is ok - she hasn't been on for a couple of days now.

Glad the GTT has been changed smiling 33 weeks did seem a trifle pointless.

Well it's 7.50 and both girls are asleep. This is unheard of! They must be coming down with something! I'm going to have a quick shower and them waste an evening slumped on the sofa.

tannyLoo · 10/12/2014 20:23

My bump feels huge for 28 weeks, like it suddenly went pop, but its also just got very uncomfortable, backachy, stretchy and tiring to carry around. I've just manoeuvred myself into a bath which might help for a minute or two.

Yes, Little hope you are doing OK.

StuntNun · 10/12/2014 20:26

I'm feeling a bit more movement now I'm at the halfway stage. I love feeling those little pokes and nudges.

No news from little... I think she might have had to stay in, I wonder

OP posts:
LondonSuperTrooper · 10/12/2014 22:14

I too hope that Little is ok. She did say that the wifi at the hospital is pretty awful. So hopefully this is why we haven't heard from her.

TinyTear · 11/12/2014 06:55

OK if anyone of us gets stuck without WiFi for a few days we send our DHs to update the rest of us!

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 11/12/2014 07:05

Agreed tiny I really hope your ok little

Maybe what we need is a buddy system so we have the email address or mobile number of someone else on the thread who we can contact to let everyone else know whats going on, because obviously a group of virtual strangers on the internet are important people to keep updated Xmas Wink
