I haven't brought anything for the baby yet but have had quite a few clothes given to me. I do have all the basics such as buggy, cot, car seat etc. from dd so not in a huge rush. Have asked for a few things for xmas though such as a buggy board and a new monitor. Was thinking I need to buy something soon just to get going. (With dd once I brought one thing at about 28 weeks it was easier to buy other things but the 1st item was the toughest.)

Anyone heard anything from little? hoping that the fact that she hasn't posted at all means she is hanging on in hospital. If it was bad news she would probably be home by now. (Little is you see this I hope I am right!)

We have been suffering as dd decided she no longer wants to sleep. Nap time and bedtime have been a nightmare and she went down from 14+ hours a day to less than 10 and has been incredibly grumpy and tantrumming. That and me having a cold and dh doing lots of overtime has made life pretty tough. However, we have abandoned day time naps and she seems to be sleeping well at night again.

Better dash as doing a big Christmas dinner for lunch and got loads to do. (We have 3 this year for all the family but only doing 1 myself Grin .)

TinyTear · 21/12/2014 11:52

No news from little no,did a mn search and she hasn't posted at all, so also hope she is hanging in there

The first thing was definitely the toughest thing to buy lig I got in a real state about jinxing things but after that each thing was easier to buy.

tiny my dp has been moaning about my snoring but im so bunged up I cant help it.

I too am hoping little is ok and that she will be back updating us soon.

My nose is permanently blocked too - very annoying.

I fucked up my work exams so now need re-sit at 37 weeks. To say I am pissed off is an understatement. I have decided to bring my mat leave forward to 34 weeks so that I get 3 weeks to revise whilst the girls are in nursery before the exams start. It means I'll be I mat leave when I actually sit the exam but I can't see that should be a problem. I hope.

Also been thinking of little a lot - I'm hoping her silence is due to lack of internet and that baby is hanging on in there ??

lila35 · 21/12/2014 15:33

Fab bump London!!

Good work decorating the nursery Smiling, I have told DP we need to get our act together in the new year and give the baby room a lick of paint and get a new blind.

Hope you are ok Little, Really hoping no news is good news xx

I had the blocked nose thing for a few weeks but it seems to have passed, when I read up on it it said it was likely to hang around for the rest of the pregnancy but mine didn't so heres hoping!

I haven't bought anything either, mainly because I said I wasn't buying till after 30 weeks, that and we have been given lots of really useful stuff. I do plan on ordering our buggy in January, thats as far as I have got thinking about it! I have finished work now to! I can finally relax, my present shopping has been done for weeks so now its just getting around to seeing the little people to dish them out and I did most of our food shop yesterday, Bring on Christmas!!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 21/12/2014 17:33

Very organised lila

ive still got tomorrow and tuesday at work, we still need to wrap dsc presents although everyone elses is done and I had the food shop delivered on friday so we are almost there.

TinyTear · 21/12/2014 20:05

Just received an email from my boss in response to my mat leave letter. All very professional, if they can find cover to accommodate my annual leave request they will allow me to take it even though im supposed to give 8 weeks notice and have only given 7.5. So hopefully they will find cover and I will finish on the 6th of Feb.

I cant sleep now though because im stressing about work again, why did they have to email so late on a sunday and why did I look at my phone Sad

2 more days to go then i can forget about work for a week.

TinyTear · 22/12/2014 07:59

Maybe there is a thread here saying "my nanny wants maternity leave and didn't give 8 weeks notice, what do I do" and they waited till late to make a decision.

All packed. Off to the airport in a couple of hours. Will be dd's first outing with the trunki. Hope it works...

OP posts:
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 22/12/2014 08:06

Maybe tiny although im fairly certain my boss is on netmums not here Grin

I did give 8 weeks notice of mat leave its just the annual leave and I did say in the letter that if it couldnt be accommodated I understood so its not a problem either way. I think my anxiety over the baby has just transfered to work and the tiredness and hormones are just making the small things seem huge hopefully after a week off it wont seem so bad.

Are you all packed and ready now tiny?

hows everyone else doing with Christmas preparation?

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 22/12/2014 08:08

Sorry tiny my phone missed the last part of your post out for some reason, it only showed when id replied Confused

I hope your dd likes her trunki and that you all have a lovely time x

LondonSuperTrooper · 23/12/2014 08:47

Smiling I hope that you are feeling better about the email that your boss sent you. They seem to be very petty if they are bringing up 7.5 weeks notice instead of 8.

Tiny My DS loved his trunkie, I hope that your DD will too. Have a fab holiday!

Also, my nose is permanently stuffed too. I'm getting to the stage where I generally feel uncomfortable. My clothes feel uncomfortable, especially my bra, I can't find a comfortable sitting position at work and I just generally fidget :( This doesn't bode well at all, especially as I'm only 22+2!

lila35 · 23/12/2014 09:18

My bras have been super uncomfortable to London, till I got myself a bra extender, I still can't wait to get it off at the end of the day but its much more managable.

Do't worry to much about your bosses smiling, they are probably in a bubble of worry about how they are going to cope without you. They'll get over it and hopefully you'll get to finish in 7 weeks.

Midwife for me today, looking forward to hearing his heartbeat!!

25+4

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 23/12/2014 09:40

Im permanently uncomfortable, I cant stand anything over the bump and underbump irritates me. Im going to have to buy some bigger maternity trousers as my bump is getting huge.

ive only got today left at work then im off till the new year, were currently snuggled up watching a film. If they cant find cover for the annual leave week then thats fine but since they have to hire a temp anyway it seems a little petty not to just hire her a week early, ive changed plans so I can work when theyve needed me to with 24 hours notice so thought perhaps they could be a little flexible.

good luck at the midwife lila

How did your midwife appointment go Lila?

Smiling I hope that you will enjoy and relax during the festive holidays.

Tiny Have a fab Christmas in Portugal!

Little I hope that you & the baby are hanging in there.

As for me, I only have 3 hours to go until I finish work! I'm back on the 2nd of Jan but hey ho I can't have it all Xmas Smile

A big hello & Merry Christmas to everyone else.

LIG1979 · 24/12/2014 17:32

Hello all!

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and enjoys their last one without an extra small person.

Smiling - I would have thought the fact that you gave enough notice (excluding holiday is fine) although they could decline your holiday. It does sound like they are being petty!

little - hope you are ok.

I am feeling huge and cannot believe I am only 23 weeks. Dread to think how large I will be by the time I get to term. The little guy is moving lots now which is reassuring. (Dd used to have mental days and then not move the next day so used the doppler alot.) This little one seems to move every time I sit down which is nice.

23+5 (2 days to 24 weeks!)

LondonSuperTrooper · 24/12/2014 18:15

I'm thinking of buying a Doppler. Bunny was active yesterday and I having felt her at all today. I'm going crazy with worry & think that £50 is a small price to pay for some peace of mind.

LIG1979 · 24/12/2014 18:45

The doppler was great for me with dd but I never had any trouble finding a heartbeat. This time I had a few troubles earlier on which ended up panicking me. I got an angel sounds one for £20 new and it probably saved me a fair few private scans. You do have to be careful you don't pick up your own heartbeat but the babies heartbeat is much quicker than your own so once you recognise it, it is easy to distinguish.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 24/12/2014 19:05

I got an angel sounds doppler, new from amazon for £17.50, I took it along to a midwife appointment and got her to show DP how to use it and the difference between my heartbeat, beanies and the umbilical cord. She said it was better quality than the one she uses.

I used it loads from about 12 - 20 weeks but now he doesnt stop moving ive used it about once a week. Hes a real fidget and I can see him move now so im a lot less paranoid unless he has a quiet day when I panic and use the doppler.

im already feeling much more relaxed and less stressed and ive only had 1 day off! Weve made a gingerbread house with dsc and just had a chilled out day, just waiting for dsd to get out the shower then going to watch the lego movie before sending them to bed so we can sort presents and get to bed at a reasonable time.

Happy Christmas everyone, its hard to believe next year I will have a 10mth old Xmas Smile

Jetpackplease · 24/12/2014 23:34

I ended up at the MW today due to reduced movement. Baby has been very active the last couple of weeks and then today, nothing. But the mw found a good strong heartbeat Grin Have contemplated getting a doppler but I don't think I would ever feel reassured unless a professional tells me it's ok. Stupid anterior placenta.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas. Xmas Smile

Little, if you're out there, I hope you're ok.

Toucanet · 26/12/2014 22:09

Hope Xmas day went well for everyone, whether in UK or chilly Portugal! & stuffy noses or not - I've had one for ages.

What a worry Jetpack - glad mw found a hb fine. Not sure I would recognise reduced foetal movements. Anterior placenta here too, started feeling bubbles etc at 20+5 and had a prod/kick about 20 mins ago; generally just feel it a few times on & off through the day but last Sun felt nothing all day. Like you & London also reconsidering getting a Doppler.

23+5

(London must have got confused - think maybe our '20-wk' scan was on the same day, though for me it was only 19wks - my EDD 19 Apr)

tannyLoo · 27/12/2014 09:53

Just saying hi, you'd dropped off my list!

Little really hoping you're OK.

Re movement, if it helps at all, I was getting quite sporadic movement and was pestering my MW with all my anxiety until I was about 25 weeks. I kind of wish I'd got a Doppler now, but it was so confusing trying to decide which one to get that in the end I didn't. Blush

Since then I've been getting so much movement that I often feel sick with a churned up stomach. I have a posterior placenta so it is much easier to feel them. On Christmas day they were less noticeable, but I think there were just a lot of distractions.

I'm still a bit in shock to have made it into the 30's, but am 30+4 today.

TinyTear · 27/12/2014 10:33

30 is great Tanny

I am 25 today... Days too hectic here but in the evening when I finally calm down can feel newbs a lot...
