Hi

The May thread is so long, thought I'd start another about the SCAN!!!

I am 10+4 and just got my appointmentfor 25 October- I'll be 12+5 then. I can't wait! It seems ages away, just dying to relax and enjoy this but I wont let myself until I know all is well.

Oh, and for those who have done this before, I hear the midwifes tell you off if you get too fat in first trimester- how fat is too fat? I have put on about 5lbs already- will they expect me to diet?

MKG at your DH. Mine is similar. I came home from work on wed, and yes admitedly I had a face like a slapped arse, but I get my worst nausea at about that time and just felt generally crap. And the support I got "well you wanted to get pregnant"!!!! - Thanks mate.

Only 7+3, so no news on my 12w scan yet. Assume it will be mid Nov. But I get a 9 wk one on the 25th, so crossing fingers that that will be ok.

Glad yours went well MKG.

Morning all

Good new on scan MKG. Only 7 days to wait til mine now.

My eating is diabolical. Sitting at my desk at the mo eating chocolate hobnobs and full fat coke! (sorry to those who can't eat much). Yesterday I fancied a cream cake but Marks & Spencers only had 4 chocolate eclairs. I bought them only intending to eat 1 or two but WHOOPS ate all 4!! Obviously then I didn't want the sandwich I had bought which I ate at 3.15 but when I got home didn't want any tea so ate a micro chip butty at about 8 pm . Forgot to say that for brekkie yesterday I went to the sarnie shop and got a sausage and egg butty! Can't keep eating like this or I will be the size of a house. Feel better for off loading that coz I daren't tell DP what I have been eating. He wouldn't be amused! Going to try and be a bit more sensible today although the chocolate hobnobs are calling out to me

I also know that I am not drinking enough and full fat coke is about the only thing I fancy.

Morning Ladies! Realised this morning I don't feel sick any more. Yay!

Got hardly any sleep worrying about where we're going to live during December. We have to be out of our flat by end Nov and can't move into our new house til end Dec. Eeek. Think we'll have to impose on some very kind friends who have offered us room at the inn. Living out of a suitcase though... And having to pack up and put everything in storage... . And in the meantime; take an estate agent to court for their failure to repay our £7800 reservation deposit on another house when the sale fell through (and sending us a rubber cheque!). Really, really can't do without that money when the new sale is completing.

Moving on. Going to be very positive today. Just had a lovely cream cheese bagel and tea. My happiness knows no bounds! Hehehe.

Really glad your scan went well MKG.

Im glad im not the only one who is enjoying eating all the types of food i should be avoiding for fear of putting on too much weight. Ive been justifying myself by saying that some days i find it hard to eat through nausea so when i suddenly fancy eating something whether its fruit or fresh cream cake etc i have to give in otherwise i would starve Not sure how much longer i can get away with that though as the nausea is slowly going then i will just have to admit to being a pig.

Is anyone else thinking that time is dragging. I feel as if i have been 8wks for ages when in fact im just 8+2. My scan feels a long way off when in fact it is only about 3wks away (although i havent had a date through yet but they do it between 11-14wks) Part of me thinks that when they do the scan they will discover im further along than they thought, my periods were a bit erractic in the months leading up to my BFP and im sure i can feel slight flutterings although if my dates are correct then it is far too early. Maybe it is just me imagining things. Im far too impatient. With the weeks dragging as slowly as they are at the moment May seems a very long way off.

Im having a nightmare with my kitchen. I was sat in the lounge on Wednesday when suddenly i realised i had a hole in the wall. The electrician had drilled straight through They will put it right at the end but thats not the point. We werent planning on decorating in here until the rest of the house was done but now we will have to, we had the paint made up especially so i cant just go out and buy a tester pot to cover their mess. Bloody workmen!!

Hope everyone is ok today and all our beans are happy and healthy and not giving us too much grief

SkyTV - Only interested in unhealthy food at the moment.
I have to say in justification of DH's frustration with me he kept making lovely healthy meals and I just couldn't face them - but give me a chip butty and my appetite suddenly returns

I promise to eat healthily in the 2nd trimester, honest

Morning ladies ,it is so reassuring to read the thread and we are all going through the same niggles,[with the exception of the DH,DP issues, as mine is a total saint who even brought me flowers yesterday to cheer me up]the nausea is abating slightly as long as i eat every 2-3 hrs, still a bit tired and the boobies just keep growing.Scan is on the 1st of nov and we really cant wait im sure there will be tears from DH, hes turned into a total softpot as far as his little WALTER is concerned....soooo sweet xx

MKG, congratulations!! Glad it all went well.

Sky, lols at eating all 4 eclairs. I?m actually quite impressed. Not sure I could eat all 4 at once. Yesterday I popped into Costco and was just about to leave when I saw the magical ?Pizza Slices £1.35? sign. Within 5 minutes I was sat in my car munching my way through a particularly lardy slice of cheese and tomato pizza. Can I point out that this was at about 3pm, therefore I can?t justify as either my lunch or tea.

One of the many things I thank the Almighty for is that my DH works for M&S (+ staff discount). So, a quick text on the days he?s working results in me getting exactly what fattening concoction my body is crying out for that particular day.

Well, good news yesterday. There is definitely a little butter-bean in there with a tiny hearbeat. I was very, very relieved. Slightly unfortunately, they have put my dates back by 5 days, which is a shame. It will be nice when the worrying bit of the pgy is over!! Thanks again for all your good wishes and thank you for letting me come on here and offload!

So glad the scan went well MKG you must be so relieved, and you JonahB. It such a relief to see it and know its not actually all in our heads!

I too have such erratic eating habits, some days i feel yuk and want nothing except bread and other days i wake up dreaming about a bacon and egg sarnie! I keep telling myself that next trimester i will be good, thats approaching rather fast though

Love H and M went there yesterday, i could have had it all it was so nice. Im desperate for the proper bump to appear now, i just look like ive eaten too much.

Hope you are all ok

Thats great new Jonah, congrats and lucky you with a DP who works at M&S.

I've been good today and just had m&s pork, stuffing and apple sauce roll. Still munching on hobnobs though (might just get through the pack before I leave work at 4.30) and I got an m&s mars bar equivalent for free for some reason. I bought it but it came up free on the receipt!

Hi all!

So good to hear positive news from Jonah and MKG. It makes it seem more real doesn't it? I got my date through for my dating scan this morning. It's on October 24th, so not too long to wait. I should be about 10+5 by my calculations which seems a bit early to me, thought it would be nearer 12wks. How much will I be able to see that early? Any second+ timers able to tell me? I had two early scans at 7+5 and 8+1 and it was just like a bean with a heartbeat. I'm wondering when I will see some little arms and legs...

Things are still ticking along nicely with me. I have the sorest boobs though and I'm still tired in the evenings but I'm not complaining as I know it could be worse. I'm another one who's been a bit naughty food-wise. Normally, I eat very healthily but I crave crisps all the time (and I don't like crisps when I'm not pg). I'm really missing poached eggs on toast atm but I can't have them as I like them runny and it's a pg no-no. Everything else on the list- pate, blue cheese etc- I don't eat anyway. But ooh do I want some runny poached eggs...?

Hope everybody's well. I can't believe we're coming to the other end of the first trimester, it seems to have taken an age!

twelveyeargap · 13/10/2006 15:14

I can't do without eggs. I love them. Runny, runny, poached and boiled eggs. Ate them all the way through the last pregnancy and tucked into at least 4 runny eggs last week. To be fair, if I open a boiled egg and the white is still a teeny bit watery, I stick it in the microwave a few seconds until it cooks a bit more. I love paté as well and as far as I'm concerned; if French women can eat pate and runny egg products in pregnancy then so can I. I hate blue cheese anyway, and most shellfish so I'm not fussed about the rest of the stuff!

I hear it reported that the single most beneficial thing you can do for your baby, bar giving up or not smoking is to breast feed. After those two, it's limit alcohol. I reckon runny eggs are pretty far down the list. I draw the line at raw eggs pregnant or not, so I'm not worried!

I think the media have us panicing about far too many things.

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 13/10/2006 15:23

Oh twelveyeargap, I do know you're right and I don't drink or smoke or eat blue cheese or shellfish or pate so I should be allowed one bloody egg. However, Scary Midwife haunts my kitchen and if I so much as look at an egg lustfully she pops up and waggles her finger at me. Honestly, she is really very pushy on the no runny eggs front. Me and DH went out on Sat for dinner and DH like the gannet he is had a mixed grill. I desperately wanted to dip one of his chips in his egg. It was torture but Scary Midwife would know. She can see into my mind. Plus DH has recently self-appointed into the food police.

Oh fgs I'm a grown woman and I'm scared of a midwife.
Ridiculous isn't it? I think I've spent so long trying to get and stay pg that I'm terrified I'll jinx it if I break a rule.

Report
twelveyeargap · 13/10/2006 15:30

There is one way to deal with jinxes... Don't believe in them!

Honestly, if a couple of runny eggs do me or my baby any harm, I am a primate's relative.

Tell the scary midwife to poke it. And give Mr SOBASH's egg a good poke with a chip whilst you're at it!

Funny article here.

12year, I?m kind of with you on this one. I eat blue and soft cheeses (all supermarket cheeses tend to be pasturised anyway), nuts, shellfish. I?m quite good about the drinking though. I tend to abstain. Eggs are a funny one. I love runny yokes, so if I?m having a fried egg, I?ll flip it sunny-side down for a nanosecond, just to make a gesture towards not eating runny yolks.

My DH started being my food police in my 1st pgy. He made the fatal error a couple of times, pulling me up on tipping mayo all over my food, along the ?should you be eating that, honey?? It didn?t seem to matter that I?d told him repetitively that Hellman?s hasn?t had the even the vaguest sniff of a real egg near it. He was incredibly lucky not to be blinded by a squirt in his eye

oh g-d, pelvic floors. Forgot about them. Unfortunately, they are a necessity. We don't have to start doing them yet, do we? Please say no!!

Report
twelveyeargap · 13/10/2006 16:01

The Pelvic Floor police say we should be doing them all the time! Not just when pregnant. I reckon if we have enough orgasms we'll be ok. Same muscles, surely?

I think we're all grownups and can be sensible about food. None of us is going to eat undercooked chicken if we can help it, will most likely avoid raw egg, just in case and probably wouldn't eat unpasturised soft cheese made in a farmers boot at the mouldy end of a barn (or whatever the restrictions are). However, a few runny eggs and bit of supermarket pasturised Brie isn't going to kill anyone.

I think I will start the Restistance Movement against the Pregnancy Police. Anyone want to join?

great article 12yr!!

Currently munching on a lovely sugary mincemeat slice from the bakery. Not my first choice as i did fancy a doughnut, but it is going down well!

I cant believe so many of you have scan dates. I am STILL waiting for mine! Was told yesterday that there were 2 people in th queue in front of me and that it will probably be w/c 23rd Oct! I also feel like i have been pregnant FOREVER! Iguess thats the only problem with finding out so early. With my first pg it went fast because everything was new and exciting. This time it feels like punishment for knowing things iykwim.

Think the sickness might be packing its bags, although this morning decided to step it up a gear. Not sure though if it might be down to the chinese i had last night...

I have to say that my dh is one of the few star hubbies. He tidies the house - put a mountain of clothes away that i had been ignoring - cooks my tea most nights and really takes on a lot of the child care especailly when i feel rough. I must say that he can do all of this as he runs his own company and works from home, so it makes it easier for him to do these things. Have to say that i am jealous of the flowers!! last time i got those was just before i has my little boy, and he is 18mths old nearly!

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend? We are going to Silverstone on Sunday to watch the British Touring Car Championships. DH sponsors one of the drivers, and as it is the last race of the season we thought we had better go! Although have just had to turn down a lovely sunday lunch invite from my bosses. She even told me what she was going to be making. I had to stop myself from dribbling!

Aprilmeadow you have to share your mincemeat slice with us all, you can't just taunt us cruelly with it.

I have to say my DH is a super star. He cooks, cleans, buys me presents for no reason (came home clutching a Blooming Marvellous bag yesterday and muttered something about Christmas presents). He has been fantastic since I found out I was pregnant and he can't do enough. I am very lucky! He does snore though.
