Sat here at work just 25mins to go and I randomly start crying. Comes out of nowhere and I'm sniffling away. Good job it's just me here and no one has come in.
DH has got man flu so I'm nipping for lemsip on the way home.

BonjourMinou · 01/12/2014 17:46

Ooh I love all your names BooMonster

the Chinese gender predictor says I'm having a boy. Find out on Wednesday morning, so I'll report back!!!

lila35 · 01/12/2014 17:51

Hmmmm Chinese Gender Predictor has it wrong, It tells me we are having a girl and we are having boy....

We had IVF so not sure if conception on the day you ovulate is really that accurate for boy or girl either. I know of 6 people who had IVF and its pretty much a 50/50 split.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/12/2014 18:36

Sorry to hear about everyone who's poorly or has poorly dc :(

Sacha isn't my cup of tea but it's tough when you can't have the name you want daholster, I had that with ds2. I know there are lots of people who think as mum carries and gives birth to the baby they have the dominant say but I do believe it should be something you both agree to. I liked ds2's name I just felt another name suited him better. Boys names are tough!! Sore bump could be your abs either working harder or starting to split slightly, keep an eye on it.

I need to get some chiliplant as my jeans are too big round my waist without a belt and I can't wear a belt and my tops are getting too short!

Have a lovely time Sairie!

Lovely news SquattingNeville.

Are you sure it's not a stitch TheBooMonster? Braxton hicks are more a tightening than stabbing pain. I like all of your names but not a fan of a lot of the shortened versions. My cousin has an Imogen and they all call her imo ConfusedHmm. Although I quite like bella. Mine have names that I intend to call them, I'm not a fan of a name for a birth certificate and another for everyday use but I know a lot of people do it like that. My poor ds's came out of school on his first day and said 'why did nobody tell me I had an ander on the end of my name' his primary school insisted on everything having Alexander on it despite him being called Alex from birth.

Busy weekend here so not much time to post. Running Club party was good but my friend got punched for dancing (in a totally jokey way) with someone's husband. She knows and regularly runs with both of them and it was quite a shock, not great end to the evening!!!
Yesterday was my birthday and we had a lay in after two late nights, lazy morning and then TMNT at the cinema which was fab and an Indian meal with my parents for tea :)
Had Ofsted in the preschool I'm on the committee of and my friend I'll daughter here all day so not the relaxed start to the week is hoped for!!

TheBooMonster · 01/12/2014 20:04

cinnamon DD is Alexia and is called everything from Alex, to Lexie to Alexia to Boo depending on who it is who's addressing her, we always introduce her to people as Alexia though. It definitely doesn't feel like a stitch, it's not a prolonged pain, more like being stabbed and then I get cramps. that probably doesn't sound all that reassuring... :P

Hi ladies!

Funeral was fine, as nice as it possibly could have been.

Scan was wonderful! Everything is great, little one behaved beautifully and the sonographer was lovely, talking to us and explaining everything the whole way through. We forgot to take an envelope so she made us one with a picture of his/her bits inside, sealed so we can't peek and can open in Christmas Day! Saw the little bean yawn which was so cute.

Such a relief; thus is he first time I feel like I'm actually going to have a baby. Gah!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/12/2014 20:18

Should have been dss not ds's.

mswibble · 01/12/2014 22:02

That is such a lovely way to reveal it oneday! You and your OH are guaranteed a fab pressie regardless of whats under the tree!

lauren I sympathise with the random crying! I started welling up when they started playing Crimbo songs on the radio last week. No idea what set me off. It was Shakin Stevens too - not even remotely sad!

Im getting impatient for Thursday now ... I think its even worse waiting for this scan than it was for the 12wk one! I want to see my little flump again!

AnniaFausta · 01/12/2014 22:39

So glad your day went well, oneday!

daholster · 01/12/2014 23:03

Hello! Thanks cinnamon. Bump definitely aches after moving about. Baby moving well though, thumping my left side making it pop out this evening, and obligingly continued while dh came and put is hand there, so we've both had a good kicking Smile On the advice of my obstetrician I have emailed my surgeon about my hernia pain and right side discomfort and I briefly mentioned it. We'll see what he says. I have work tomorrow and if it's painful all day cos I'm moving around then I'll have to ask someone about it.

Names, names, names... Dh has contributed two today Grin... Now our list looks a lot longer!

Jack
Rory
Hayden (dh!)
Charlie (dh too!)
Heath
Wynter (middle name only... It was our boy name if we got the winter baby we had hoped would appear, but it took a few more months Wink)
Reid (he's not too keen though)
Fenn (Middle name only cos we have an F surname. Fenton is a family name on my side but I don't really like it... But I love Fenn and it's meaning)

Sadly he spoiled it a little by saying we aren't having a middle name for the sake of it, only if it means something. Dd's was because we loved Meadow but weren't brave enough to use it (he says...!) but his family don't have middle names and it isn't necessary. I disagree of course!

Still, we have a soft spot for Jack, it's a family name on his side too. And for Monty, which we have always talked about and like but it doesn't matter how we try we aren't brave enough to use and don't like Montgomery, Montague or Beaumont... (Well, I like Beau so would have managed that one but it does sound rather hoity-toity and doesn't really suit all of our names, if you know what I mean). And of course, there's Wynter. So I reckon, after all the labour and everything I'll beg for a middle name and I'll be allowed one of those three Grin.

Oh and he decided against Rowan. Oh well. freedom thanks for all your efforts! I don't mind Zachary but don't love it. I have just given up on Sacha! But thanks!

Wow I do waffle don't I? Sorry... Blush

Painful tummy again... Both sides, feels like achey cramp. Very like end of pregnancy cramps discomfort when the practising starts, if I remember rightly Shock Stretching probably.

Oh I really hope dd sleeps through... She won't, poorly little bean.

Hope everyone is ok. I like our little club Smile

daholster · 01/12/2014 23:17

Dh just said no to Wynter full stop since it's not a winter baby. Not even in the middle. Oh and by the way he doesn't like Fenn cos it makes him think of ferns. Er.... What do you want to think of? Boys aren't flowery like Meadows! Humph! Angry

daholster · 01/12/2014 23:19

Lol we looked up fenland... It is a flat damp low lying agricultural region. Lol!!! Maybe I can understand that a bit more! Rofl!

FreedomHuntress · 01/12/2014 23:42

Darn, Daholster, I was sure Zachary was perfect for you!
I know of a Reed. I love unusual names.
I absolutely LOVE Beaumont, we looked into that before we knew this one is a girl. Go on, use that!
Heath would be great as a middle name, goes well with Meadow!
DD's mn matches Ds's mn. I love that. (Sorry, not saying.)

What about Ash, or Asher?
Or Dash? Full name Dalziel? It means small field. Also goes with Meadow. Ace, huh!

daholster · 02/12/2014 00:11

Ha freedom dh suggested Beau from his own head to get me to shhh I think and I pointed out the Beaumont thing... He went a bit quiet! Problem is that all our names are pretty much one syllable and don't go together as fn mn. Still. We already updated our list this evening. TOGETHER. Can't believe he actually did some name thinking with me. And asked for Monty to go back on! The penguin might make it a comeback... Oh dear... "No, we didn't name him after the John Lewis advert..." Hmm

And we are left with this to mull over...

Jack
Rory
Heath
Chase
Fenton
Monty
Charlie
Hayden

A good evening's work I think... Shame none of them really go together!

And I have just realised, lying in bed, that I am definitely getting Braxton Hicks. Same cramp achey pain both sides and across then realised my heart rate went up, I felt a little funny in the chest and it's a slightly euphoric feeling which I was pondering... Then remembered these things happened with my BHs last time. Felt my tummy during the fast heart bit and sure enough, contracting! I seem to remember reading that they can start any time? Still feel a bit unnerved by it though!

Night all.

minipie · 02/12/2014 00:15

lauren my bump is about that size - but the rest of me is a fair bit bigger...

daholster if your dd has a middle name (love meadow by the way) then your DS has to have one too surely? I love Winter as a middle name especially for a non winter baby. Heath or Monty are good middle names too. Do you like Digby perhaps? Or Bryn? I like Dash/Dashiell.

Lovely names Boo, I'd probably pick Evelyn (I love Evie even though it's very popular) or Felicity (great meaning) but they are all good.

We had the Name Chat this evening as it happens, and have decided... DD2 will be Cecily. Probably Cecily Blythe. it's what we nearly called dd1 and we still both like it so a fairly obvious decision!

Had a proper preg brain moment today... I'd been cooking some chicken, intended to tip it into a bowl and tipped it into the bin instead Blush luckily it was on some packaging so retrievable.

Glad to hear all scans going smoothly.

Well that was the worst nights sleep I've ever had. Think I managed all of 4 hours. Just couldn't drop off then DH woke me up at 4 because he couldn't use his throat spray, then he was sick and woke up DD so spent the next 2 hours vainly trying to fall back asleep while telling DD that no it was not time to get up yet every 10mins. Oh and DH got me to go downstairs for fresh water and more pills in that time too. I feel sorry for him but I feel sorry for me more as he clearly can't go to work with a temp of 39. But at least he gets some sleep I'll be working all day with hardly any sleep at all!

TinyTear · 02/12/2014 06:56

I know a 3y old Monty

And a 4 yo Hayden

We are heading for Alice

lila35 · 02/12/2014 07:03

Hello heartburn! Thanks for keeping me awake for most of the night! ITs the first time I've had it, hope it doesn't become a regular thing....

BrixtonBunny · 02/12/2014 07:23

Morning! I slept terribly too, and don't even have the excuse of DC... Hmm Took me ages to get to sleep last night as baby was giving me a lovely kicking (and of course I wanted to focus on that rather than sleeping) then I woke up for a wee around 5 and baby started kicking and wriggling again...just about managed to get to sleep and then the heating came on at 6:30 (normally comes on at 7:30) cue waking up and panicking that it was an hour later than I thought despite a blissfully sleeping DP. And I have such a long and busy day at work today Shock

I love some of the names being suggested on here! We've got a girls name we both really like, but still need up find a boy's name. We have middle names sorted though I think.

So much good scan news, congrats ladies! May it continue into next week.

Morning all! Sorry those of you not sleeping too well.

On the subject of names! I think we have decided on this little ladies name. My mum told me (before we even started ttc!) that I could only have another baby if I agreed to call it Tiger. We can't have Tiger-Lily because there is a cousin called Lily and whilst I originally agreed I was starting to have misgivings! But dh LOVES Tiger so I am outvoted and the bump has been referred to as Tiger from day one!

So my mum now likes Erin and Kezia, but Dh will not budge from Tiger and I don't think mums other names really go with it. I thought I had settled on Tiger-Rose (but I intend to call her Tiggy) but then yesterday we came up with Tiger Matilda or Tiger-Tilly which (Thank God!) we all seem to like. I think we will register her as Tiger Matilda but call (so she has a 'normal' name if she hates the Tiger!) but will call her Tiger-Tilly.

Sorry, that was long winded! I love unusual names.

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 02/12/2014 07:56

Thanks everyone, I can't wait for Christmas now!

boo your names are lovely.
dances I Love love love Erin, it's on my girls list too. I love unusual names but am not brave enough and DH wouldn't go for anything against the grain.

mel definitely with you on the weird dream front and all those not sleeping. Gone are the days where I'd be dead to the world for 8-9 hours. And I work in sleep research and am still sleeping poorly despite knowing all the sleep hygiene advice!

Good luck to all with scans this week. The level of detail they go into blew my mind!

StuntNun · 02/12/2014 09:00

My DH won't talk about names at all yet, I think he wants to wait until after the 20 week scan even though we already know it's another boy. It's a bit worrying as we don't have a good history when it comes to choosing names apart from DS1 where DH liked the names I picked. DS2 was called Voldemort for the first few weeks as I wanted to call him Blake and DH wanted to call him James and we eventually settled on a name that was neither of those! With DS3 I rolled over and let DH have a James. So I don't know how we'll decide. DS1 wants to call the baby Jason and DS2 likes Luke. I asked DS3 and he wants to call the baby Train! Well he is only 2! I remember when we were expecting DS2 then DS1 insisted he would be called Michelle Humpty Dumpty!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/12/2014 09:35

My ds2 originally wanted to call the baby fence stuntNun but now likes Fred Smile

You lot are all up late! I'm in bed around 10, get up in the morning and there's tonnes of posts!

BananaToast · 02/12/2014 09:38

I didn't sleep particularly well either - I keep having very vivid dreams that wake me up throughout the night.

Had an interesting commute home yesterday too. Was wearing my baby on board badge, got onto a busy tube and nobody offered me a seat. Fair enough, I'm fine standing, and there's a stop a couple down the line where people tend to get off so thought I might be able to get a seat then. When we pulled into that station, a woman got up from the priority seat that I was standing right next to and got off the train. Brilliant! Except the woman standing in front of me looked right at me, looked at my badge, smiled, and sat down in it! Now I don't expect people to jump up out of their seats for me but if the situation was reversed I would definitely have offered a pregnant lady the seat rather than jumping into it! A very nice lady halfway up the carriage noticed me a minute later and shouted down to offer me a seat, and said loudly "Don't worry, I know how it feels. People just ignore you til you're much bigger!"
