We were getting perilously close to being full up, hope no one minds!

Banana you're much more polite than me - if people on the tube ignore my badge/ don't see me, I just ask if I can please sit down. So far no one has said no! Grin

You are too polite... I wear my badge actually ON the bump and stand in frond of the priority seats. If I am feeling rather tired, I have asked people if I could seat as that is the priority seat...

Lauren82000 · 02/12/2014 10:04

Dances Matilda is on my list of names for a girl because I like Tilly it goes well with DDs shortened name Phe!

Only thing is my friends cat is called Tilly Angry but then again I have had that name in mind for more than 3 years so I guess she stole it! (That's my story and I'm sticking to it)
So far I'm doing surprisingly well on so little sleep despite the tantrum/yelling match between me and DD on the way to nursery that had people staring!Blush (Little bugger shut right up and got clingy the second I opened the nursery door) I've managed to get my quality stats done for the meeting on Thursday with percentages, graphs and everything so yay me and my non maths brain! Now to grab a hot chocolate from the refectory next door and I'm set for the morning.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 02/12/2014 10:10

all I'm going to say on the naming front is that I'd avoid any in the top 10 so you won't be one of 5 in the class, and I'd check initials to make sure there isn't anything daft. We've ruled out one of my favourite names as a result of that :(

minipie · 02/12/2014 10:17

Gosh how rude of her Banana! I was going to say I'd have said something in your shoes but in fact I'd probably have been shocked into silence...

I've found I quite often don't get offered a seat despite being rather large for 22 weeks. I'm sure I got offered more when pg with DD, I think it may be the rise in kindles/ipads etc? (Or maybe people are just meaner than they used to be...)

Grin at Voldemort. DH has decided this bump is called Sprout - the problem is, DD's bump nickname has stuck (despite my best efforts) and I am terrified that Sprout will stick too.

ChickenMe · 02/12/2014 10:32

Sad soo tired I could cry. Anyone else or is it just me?
Due to constantly getting up to pee. Literally once an hour. Went for scan and baby had their foot on my bladder!!
Finding I have zero tolerance of anything eg OH chewing gives me rage.

StuntNun · 02/12/2014 10:42

To be fair DS2 did look like a Voldemort. He was very skinny when he was born, his fingernails were purple and he would clasp his hands in front of him Dracula style.

FreedomHuntress · 02/12/2014 10:59

daholster, I thought I knew your name and it is two syllables?
I know what you mean though - we will all have three syllables for our birth certificate names. Though actually, day to day we go by DH: one syllable DS: three (sometimes I try various one- or two- syllable nicknames, but I don't want to force anything (he has various options) as I'd like him to choose his own nickname when he is ready. He has recently said no nicknames, use my full name!) me: two syllables. DD will probably have a two syllable nickname. But I like that our full names are all three syllables, the same! My mother managed to name me and my siblings all with three syllables and seven letters. Though I got a middle name (firstborn) and my brothers didn't. Probably because we had a double-barrelled surname and they felt it was all a bit long. I know my brothers felt hard done by though that I had a mn and they didn't. Got to be fair! Oops, that was long (and probably boring! Xmas Grin)

StuntNun, how about Duke, as a combination of Luke and Jason!?

dances, you are definitely dancing to your own tune with the Tiger names. And I say that as a compliment. I absolutely LOVE your options, just wow. DS's name is very rare, raises eyebrows, but I adore it and no regrets. It is perfection. (He does have mainstream nicknames though, so if he doesn't want a name that stands out, he can easily use one of the nicknames.)

Banana, that sounds rude. Though we never know what they are dealing with themselves, maybe she has day to day pain that doesn't show, and she doesn't have a badge for. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

19+1

BananaToast · 02/12/2014 11:09

I was too shocked to say anything! And given that I'm able to stand up at the moment I don't like to ask for a seat. I know she might have had a reason to need a seat, but it was the smile at my badge as she sat down that I was most surprised at.

I have just been referring to the baby as 'the goldfish' lately as that's what its early movements felt like. Might need a rethink soon as the kicks are getting a bit stronger!

Lauren82000 · 02/12/2014 11:56

My bump with DD was called Munch as in munchkin. But this time it's just the baby. Who is currently rolling again! Getting far more rolls recently than kicks it must be getting very tangled in there with the cord, arms and legs. Wink Scan tomorrow morning, very looking forward to it and sticking to team surprise.

dancestomyowntune · 02/12/2014 12:18

My oldest has a name that is really quite unusual. We like it because she is like Madonna, and only has to use her first name!!! Everyone knows who she is and people appear to remember her. She has only ever, in almost 12 years, met another with her name and she was a grown woman from America who had never met anyone with her name. She was so excited it was a bit scary!!!

FreedomHuntress · 02/12/2014 12:24

Never met another with DS's name, though there is a sportsman and a singer with the name, but they aren't hugely known (I wish them success of course, but I rather hope they remain not very well known!). There were fewer than 10 given his name in the year he was born.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/12/2014 13:05

DH used to call ds1 quato when he was little and he has called both ds2 and this one that until they were born too!

I was surprised to see James in the top 10 this year! It's a very common second name but ds1 has never had another James in his class and he's in year 3 now. Dss had 5 Alex's in his class at one point!! Ds2 had one other Luke in his preschool class but none at the moment. He also had LEG as his initials, not too silly but I had strong reasons for his middle name :)

Dh won't let me have Sebastian because it's too many letters! Our surname is 9 letters so he reckons he'll have most of the alphabet in his name Hmm.

I think it's easier to give girls slightly more unusual names than boys but that's just me. I know a Blue (boy) and Blu (girl), quite unusual to know two even if spelling is alightly different.

I feel strongly about middle names, I don't have one and always wished I had as a kid. Doesn't bother me now but I wanted my children to have one and I agree with whoever said once you've given the first one you kind of have to give the rest one too.

Maybe she was pregnant too BananaToast and looked at your badge thinking 'I need one of those'? I would never ask anyone to help or give up a seat for me. If they do I feel quite uncomfortable so think those who have are very brave!! I struggled down so many steps on my own with ds2 when he had appointments at guys and St Thomas', no one ever offered to help!

BrixtonBunny · 02/12/2014 13:15

Mini I hope our pregnancy nickname won't stick - otherwise this poor baby has a good many years ahead of being called "blob" Blush

Oh no Mel - awful to still be feeling/being sick at this stage! You have my sympathy!

Struggling this afternoon - just want to go home and crawl into bed!

Had my scan today. All looked ok but baby is measuring small, so Im to get scanned again in 4 weeks. Balls.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/12/2014 18:25

Did they give you an idea how small kismac? We had head, abdomen and thigh bone measured. 4 weeks will make huge changes. I had extra fluid with ds2 at 32 weeks by 36 weeks, all was back to normal!

kismac · 02/12/2014 18:31

No, they didn't say. They said it'll all be fine but it's scared me.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/12/2014 18:34

It sucks, the waiting is the worst! If they said not to worry I guess it will be fine, no one has told me not to worry!! Everything is worrying at this stage Flowers

kismac · 02/12/2014 18:39

Aww cinnamon, Im sorry. I really hopes it all works out for you.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/12/2014 19:43

I didn't mean it like that at all, just that if they say it'll be fine then it'll be fine. They only say stuff like that if they mean it :)

BonjourMinou · 02/12/2014 19:59

My scan is tomorrow morning, I don't seem to be feeling as many movements as the rest of you but when I had my scan the ultrasound technician couldn't make up her mind on the position of the placenta, so it's probably anterior.

The scan will definitely reassure me, so I'm #scanxious again...

DH refuses to discuss names at all until we know what the sex is. Hmm

Lauren82000 · 02/12/2014 20:01

Yes health professionals are very doom and gloom. Wouldn't give you false hope just facts. They are too likely to be sued in this day and age so have to be careful of what they say incase it bites them in the ass.
Take their 'fine' as it'll be fine, but it doesn't stop you worrying. Thanks

When's your next update Cinnamon?
