Happy Friday everyone!

I am going away with some friends this weekend, am going to tell them my news. Would rather wait until after my scan but I won't see them in person again for ages and I am TOO EXCITED! Smile

JennyOfOldstones · 14/11/2014 15:24

Congrats on the scan chat and the new house ots a cottage sounds lovely!

ots · 14/11/2014 15:31

Thanks all. Yes sounds much better than the flat we're in now, and he said he has let us know before listing it with an agent so that we (and of course he) won't have to pay extortionate fees :)

PerpetualStudent · 14/11/2014 15:57

Great to see news of positive scans.

And thanks for the support RE my rollercoaster of emotions. Been doing housework today (avoiding data processing for PhD) and getting tearful about my late Gran's laundry cupboard!!

Got my 12 week scan coming up on Tuesday - just can't wait to see a happy bean on the screen again, though getting ever more anxious (with no justification) that it won't be a good result...

Oh, with the sex drive thing, I seem to be on the upswing - poor DP doesn't know what to think, one minute sobbing, the next taking a lunge at him!!

cuphat · 14/11/2014 15:58

Sunbathing, it was so nice I couldn't resist. Plus DD loves going out for walks (she loves aeroplane spotting and looking at trees etc!). I lose my fitness really quickly during pregnancy though. We both had a nap this afternoon!

At booking in the midwife stressed the importance of keeping up fitness routines. Prior to pregnancy this consisted of doing Jillian Micheals DVDs most days. She said it would be fine to carry on as I'd already been doing them but she clearly can't have tried them herself as I can't imagine anyone that had would recommend them during pregnancy under any circumstance (all the abs etc as well as being so intense)! So I need to keep up the walking to make some effort. Will start my pregnancy DVDs from 12 weeks.

cuphat · 14/11/2014 16:02

Michaels not Micheals!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 14/11/2014 16:07

Cuphat - when i told my gp about Jillian Michaels and that I did weights a fair amount, I got told not to do it until after 12weeks. I'm missing the gym but the sickness is making it hard. Don't think I could stomach that"gym smell" right now.

Well, spoke too soon in my previous post as I just passed out getting my flu jab. Had to call the husband to walk me home. He just laughed ad it happens nearly every time I get a needle. I'm not scared of them or the pain, but for some reason my brain makes me pass out. Blush

Sounds like people are getting some good news, both pregnancy and non pregnancy related. A good way to end thew week.

cuphat · 14/11/2014 16:13

My midwife really doesn't have a clue then. I'm sure I've read you're not supposed to work on abs after 12 weeks either which rules them out then too. Plus I'd have lost the fitness level I usually have while doing them within that time so restarting wouldn't be a good idea for that reason either. Good job I just used my common sense! I wish Jillian would do a pregnancy DVD.

Oh gosh, hope you're ok now trying.

AnythingNotEverything · 14/11/2014 16:20

I wouldn't do anything that worked my core during pregnancy, and after 12 weeks nothing that involved lying flat on my back for any length of time. Some midwives are funny.

I'm hoping to start swimming again soon. I was quite active walking with the pram until a couple of weeks ago but the fatigue and going back to work has stopped all that.

Jackiebrambles · 14/11/2014 16:33

I think its ok to carry on doing the level of exercise your body is very used to in pregnancy, but not to start anything new. I'd also steer clear of a lot of core/abs work too.

Because of the relaxin in your joints you need to be careful as hurting yourself is more easy to do.

I carried on running when I was pregnant last time but I think I stopped at about 4-5 months when I felt bad about the little bean being sloshed around in my belly too much (plus it started to feel a bit weird too). I just switched to lower impact cardio work but carried on with doing weights. I did used to get some right looks in the weight room at the gym with a baby bump! :)

Sunbathing I'm going to wait it out til my 12 week scan. We didn't have an early scan last time (to be honest I didn't know you could then!). Its frustrating but its only 4 weeks away now.

I wish I could tell work later to be honest, its only because there are a few 'drinking' events coming up (including our xmas party) and my close colleagues will notice. I will ask them not to tell the wider company though.

I have been doing Jillian Michaels too, stopped while I was sick but started again now. Not doing the abs though, it felt a bit weird. I have ordered Erin o brien for 12 weeks onwards or when I get a bump.

JennyOfOldstones · 14/11/2014 20:17

I really fancy pregnancy yoga or Pilates too, will try to find a local one. Good way to meet other mums to be too!

BingoBonkers · 14/11/2014 20:49

Today has been slightly better nausea wise. Well unless I don't eat regularly enough. I've put the DC to bed and now I feel sick as a dog. Couldn't face making myself proper dinner so I've had microwave mash. Have had to force most of it down.

Anyone else finding the central heating a bit suffocating? Don't know if it's the smell of the rads heating up? Does that even make sense?

Saw a friend today who has three DC. The youngest being three or four months old. She asked me about having a third and I confessed. She said she thought I might be. She is sworn to secrecy. Now I'm paranoid I've jinxed myself. Didn't tell anyone about either of our two before having scans so now my anxiety is doing it's best to drive me crazy.

What's everyone up to this weekend?

Kyz · 14/11/2014 20:56

Evening all! I've had some pulling/odd sharp pains today, but to be fair i've probably been doing more than I should, all has settled since I sat down so i'm not worrying or at least trying not to. I'm sure it's nothing :)

oh tori i wish it worked that way re: sickness! I still get the odd wave of it, especially if i'm hungry

that's brilliant ots, i'm glad something has come up for you :) hope it isn't toooo small!

so pleased your scan went well chat :)

you're getting there Sunbathing, not long now till your scan :)

I wish i'd kept up with my exercising but i felt so rotten for ages that i let it slip and i think it'd count as starting again now!

AnythingNotEverything · 14/11/2014 21:06

Bingo being hot, especially hot air like from the heater in the car, makes me instantly want to vom.

Jenny, the Erin one I have is really good. A bit cheesy, but good. I'm not sure which one you have but there are also postnatal workouts on it which are great too (I had to take it easy for a while as I had a c-section).

Bingo, we haven't had the heating on yet! I couldn't bear it; I have to have the windows open all night as it is.

BingoBonkers · 14/11/2014 21:35

Anything that is exactly it. Makes me feel so rough.

Cup hat we've been so cold we've had to have the heating on. Heating is on now and I'm still sat with blankets on.

I'm normally a cold person too - I love pregnancy for this reason. I remember last time, I was pregnant at the same time (June baby) and I didn't feel cold all winter. My husband has been cold and doesn't want the windows open at night but it's the only way I can sleep.

JennyOfOldstones · 14/11/2014 21:46

Oh good cuphat I will look forward to Erin! I have the pre and post workouts coming.

Buba, I'm creasing up at the presex lunges. I can just imagine the conversation:

Buba: I'm just going up to start my lunges, darling.
MrBuba: I see. I shall be up just as soon as I've filled the penis beaker.

Ots that's great news on the housing. Our house is a tiny 2 up 2 down and its a squeeze but we fit!

Am knackered today after spending until 3am in the out of hours GP and paediatric decision unit with dd, and then her waking every 30 minutes or so til 5am.. She has a really nasty upper respiratory tract infection, poor duck. Proper poorly.

Mil is arriving from Wales any moment. Could do do without herts is weekend!
