I made a pregnancy announcement on FB after the 20 week mark as I have a lot of family in far flung places. Apart from that I haven't really mentioned anything else.

cheshirem2b · 02/01/2015 17:28

Just a quick update - I'll post properly when I can. We are doing Ok. All went a bit crazy but baby Eleanor is amazing! After 2 pessaries, syntocin drip up to 24ml, waters broken, epidural put in and working... then on next examination discovered she's presenting face first and is stuck... straight to theatre and the rest is history! we are absolutely smitten! She's stunning!

Will post more when I can!

Has anyone had an app with health visitor before baby has been born? Im really worried as nursery isn't ready yet and Moses basket is at mil house, will she judge me for this?

Dec2013mummy · 02/01/2015 22:12

Congratulations cheshire and a huge well done. Enjoy new born snuggles. She is beautiful Grin
Sorry for not updating everyone sooner but it has all been such a whirl wind here!
So.... The birth story... Here goes....
I am speechless too. My waters broke as I was lay down resting, just turned over, but only trickled so I didn't know if it was it. Presumed we would have ages after Ds's slow arrival! Bounced on my ball with Ds bouncing with me! I rang triage who advices to come in and check as I love 45 minutes away from the hospital. The contractions then suddenly sprung to 3 mins apart....So rang mum and said come in 15 mins to look after Ds . Rang mum back 5 mins later and said hurry up! Dh put Ds to bed at this time! So I got in the car, contractions coming thick and fast and half way to hospital just announced (or shouted) that she was on her way out! Ds drove like a maniac and parked half way up a curb. Dh ran and got paramedics by banging on an ambulance and they helped me out of car but then I ended up on the floor outside the main entrance as I couldn't walk of sit. Was shift swap time so nurses started pouring out! The Midwives turned up and I said she was coming and they said no you'll be ok... Let's get a wheelchair... Checked and then shouted get her a trolley she's right it is coming and then literally ran me down to the delivery suite. I managed to get from te trolly to the bed as Dd's head appeared, then one more push and she was here. Everyone was a bit stunned!

mad I was in hospital in active labour for 27 hrs (laboured more at home first) and pushing for well over 2 hours with Ds.... So yer it can happen! Fingers crossed for you Grin

BilboTheAlmighty · 02/01/2015 22:37

Oh dec your birth story would make a great Hollywood rom com! I'm so so so happy for you and your little family! Enjoy the cuddles Smile

ikk I too worry about being judged. But my mil calmed me down by telling me it's more a formality. I hope she's right! I'd take it very badly if someone judged us as parents after a short visit!

BilboTheAlmighty · 02/01/2015 22:39

Ladies who have already had babies: is it normal to feel an intense pressure in the groin area? I know that the lightening leads to rectal pressure (which feels weird) but for the past hour my groin hurts! Like bad period cramps! And baby wrigglimg her hands doesn't help. I'm worried that my spd may be getting worse? It even travels down my vulva at times (sorry tmi). No back pain though.

chiruri · 02/01/2015 23:00

Bilbo, I've been getting something very similar. I've put it down to Braxton Hicks and baby punching/head-butting my poor cervix. It seems to be very different from my SPD, anyway.

BilboTheAlmighty · 02/01/2015 23:04

Thanks chiruri I've only had mild spd so far, hence why I was worried it was a worsening sign! I can live with BH although they tend to usually start at the top of my bump. Baby wriggling feels very strange as well and it is giving me trapped wind (oh the glamour of pregnancy!). Not the best of sensation Confused

Ah the cervix head butting! It sometimes make me jump and wimp out in surprise! Grin

Pesto11 · 02/01/2015 23:12

What a story! Well done you!

And beautiful baby girls ladies!

Enjoy baby cuddles : )

chiruri · 02/01/2015 23:17

My SPD has also been fairly mild (I only get it if I've been sitting for a while then get up, and it only lasts for a few minutes before my pelvis 'warms up') but it definitely feels different to the period-y, crampy pains I've been getting over the past week or so (which is definitely worse at rest, and can last for much longer).
I've been getting the trapped wind feeling too! It's awful! TMI alert but I've been getting my hopes up for labour being round the corner as bowels are much looser than usual, too... As you say, glamorous!

Ikkleme · 02/01/2015 23:18

Thanks for the reassurance ladies, I normally like to be totally prepared but oh is too relaxed, I Have literally everything at home apart from furniture (still waiting for delivery Angry) and Moses basket, we were going to decorate nursery last weekend but have realised the walls area would in nursery so looks like room needs re plastering!these jobs never end? I just wanted to be all settled by now Hmm

Nesspot · 02/01/2015 23:25

Congrats on the safe arrival of the babies!

Christ, what a story Dec! Sounds like you were lucky to make it to hospital!

Least it was over and done with quickly though!

Xxx
