Lisamarv · 27/10/2006 19:14

Hiya, just a quick update... contractions came back but still only every 10-15 mins and lasting 30 seconds... went to birth centre to get checked over by midwife, everything fine but not in proper labour yet so got sent ome, told to go back when contractions every 4 mins and lasting 60 secs. Contractions are still every 10-15 mins but are a LOT more painful now, have been using TENS machinew hich helps a bit but don't think I can cope with the pain much longer, have kinda talked myself into an epidural already, disappointed as obviously have a much lower pain threshold than i thought. doesn't help being so tired, and can't lie down as it hurts more when i do that. so now just hoping that they'll give me an epidural soon even though the contractions are still quite far apart. gonn have a bath and then call the hospital. the thought of another night like last night just to be in the same position tomorrow as I am now is too much!

BENDYB · 27/10/2006 19:26

hope everything goes ok lisamarv!

taffy101 · 27/10/2006 19:59

Wow congratulations girlygale and marthahm.
Sounds like wuzzle is on her way - sounds similar to my last birth - had period pains for about a day before the real thing kicked in. Have hired a tens machine this time, wonder if it will work. Its worth a go I spose.
I've started getting the inevitable phone calls + texts asking if there is any news. Bit annoying but are well meant I know.
I may have to lurk on the november thread soon.
Good Luck everyone who's still waiting
Off to clean house from top to bottom as I did it last week but is now dirty again.

youngmum21 · 27/10/2006 20:05

taffy when your lo due???

taffy101 · 27/10/2006 20:07

25th oct!!

wuzzlefraggle · 27/10/2006 20:11

lisa, its sounding like your on the way

well, the period pains arent as frequent, but i still get them every so often. I really do wish that things would kick in properly...it looked really promising this morning. gonna see if dh can maybe help things speed up a bit later lol

taffy101 · 27/10/2006 20:17

Wuzz I can't believe you're still at home. I was like that with my dd. I wish more pain on you (in a good way) to get you moving on your way.
I remember pacing about with a stopwatch timing all the pains and they were really irregular - when you read the books you expect them to be exactly 5 mins apart but mine were weird. They'd suddenly go to every 3 mins, then 10 mins and then stop for an hour. Very annoying but you'll know when you are ready to go. Just phone the delivery suite and scream at them

wuzzlefraggle · 27/10/2006 20:19

lol thanks taffy, its so bloddy frustrating isnt it??? i just want things on the move. ive decided to start timeing them again to see whats happening.

Swizzler · 27/10/2006 20:26

How exciting - two more of us in labour - keep us posted and good luck! Wuzzle: give the labour ward a ring and they'll let you know if you should go in or not. I wasn't sure if I was far enough along, but glad I did go in as W arrived 3 hrs later

Congratulations Marthahm: beautiful name. Will have a nosy on the birth announcements thread for the gory details. It is a bit scary when your milk comes in but things settle down again v quickly. Plenty of hot baths and cold cabbage leaves really help.

Swizzler · 27/10/2006 20:26

And congratulations Girlygale and baby Megan

taffy101 · 27/10/2006 20:27

when i got home after dd my dh showed me piece of paper i'd written all the timings on OMG.
Definitely sit on your gymball - I didn't have one last time and I couldn't sit down when I was getting them period pains at home but when got to hosp they had a gymball and I didn't move off it for hours. Have wisely invested in one this time and am taking it to hosp with me just in case they haven't got one.
If it doesn't happen soon try and get some sleep.
I will try not to have my lo before you - don't worry there is absolutely NOTHING happening here whatsoever.S/he is far too comfy where they are!

wuzzlefraggle · 27/10/2006 20:31

lol, i take it that the timings were all over the place then were they?

taffy101 · 27/10/2006 20:38

Yeah made no sense wotsoever. I knew when it was time to go though as they became regular and much more painful rather than being just damn irritating. I phoned del suite during the early stages and they just told me to take paracetamol WTF! By the time its real they can tell by the tone in your voice.
