congrats nicand2 and chubszki!!

good luck and labour vibes to all those that are getting more signs that things are progressing

Swizzler · 25/10/2006 19:07

Congratulations Nicand2: you get the prize for the biggest baby so far
Hoping to read some more birth announcements/sings of labour soon...

agrimum · 25/10/2006 19:30

saw midwife today for sweep. The good news is that I do have a cervix. The bad news is that it's not ripe! So am booked in for induction saturday evening. Shame cos I thought I might go clubbing then (not).

Anyway congrats to all those whose LOs have arrived lately.

catgirl · 25/10/2006 20:15

Congats chubszki

congrats and WOW nicand2!

catgirl · 25/10/2006 20:18

agrimum - it is only Wednesday - a lot could happen between now and Saturday - maybe go clubbing on Friday to get things moving??!

KATGOD · 25/10/2006 20:22

hello, saw consultant today, booked induction for 1 November, but need to arrange a sweeop by midwife before then. She said it was all fine, no need to panic etc. The thing that did amuse me is the SHO (not sure how junior they are) that I saw on Friday during monitoring was all chat and slightly flirtatious on Friday, very in control, in a room full of midwives and pg ladies hooked up to monitors. Today, under the eye of my DH and the consultant he was more like the work experience boy!! Sweet!! well hope do not get to sweep/induction stage but who knows. Most annoying part is going to be negotiating with the receptionist at docs to get an apointment with midwife - she has clinics twice a week so Friday best for me, otherwise have to wait til Tuesday which is day before induction booked..... good luck all, will keep you posted.

BENDYB · 25/10/2006 20:36

congratulations chubszki & nicand2! 10lb 11oz! Wow! Well done!

Anythin more happened with u wuzz?

Since bout 1or 2 o clock I've had like period sort of pains, quite painfull! & a bad back ache & feel really really sick! Could this b somethin startin?

Popsi · 25/10/2006 21:42

BendyB - sounds promising!
congratulations chubszki & nicand2

purpleluce · 26/10/2006 06:37

Congrats Ging/Nic & 2 and other new mums.

Picking up on lady who wants a sweep (I do think that started me off last time) Check whether your local hospital runs any walk in clinics as they can give you up to 3 sweeps on consecutive days and if you are stuck with only certain appts you won't get that. I dont think I am being contentious by saying that if you can get your body kick started naturally (sweep included in that) then it tends to be a better experience overall - so stick your neck out!

DogMum · 26/10/2006 08:26

I'm definitely seeing the Gingeme household through a soft-focus lens with a peaceful soundtrack. It sounds wonderful, Gingeme.

Well done Nicand2, glad you're recovering well. Congratulations Chubzuki too. Hope all is well.

Katgod, try and get your sweep for Friday if you can - it can take 48 hrs to work (if it's going to, which hopefully it will for you.) Thanks for the tip, purpleluce - will definitely check my local walk-in centre.

clon · 26/10/2006 10:18

Hello all

I'm still showing no signs.

Dogmum, agrimum, very jealous you have both had sweeps and been monitored, you are both one day either side of me and all I've been offered is a discussion with midwife for tomorrow when I'm 41 weeks to see what my options are. They don't seem to want to hurry me on at all.

wuzzlefraggle · 26/10/2006 10:54

hi everyone

well, from about 8pm last night till i went to bed at around 12, i had pretty damn uncomfortable period pains/lots of pressure/gerneral discomfort right doen low in my tummy. was so bloddy tired that i went out like a light when my head hit the pillow. and this morning im still having lots of pressure right down low too.

Only thing thats worrying me a bit is that i dont think ive felt the baby move yet today...

bendy - any signs with you?? sounds good re your last post

youngmum21 · 26/10/2006 10:59

morning all,

Well had a crap last nite think i went in total panic mode that soon im going to be having a baby (silly i know)and was up half the nite thinking there was sumthing wrong with me which there isnt as i feel ok now!!!
Wuzz try not to worry my lo movements have not been as active, try having a really cold drink that usually works xx

BENDYB · 26/10/2006 11:50

hi every1!

hey wuzz, hows things with u? carried on having them sort of pains all nite, hardly any sleep!!! Sounds like what ur gettin really!I can feel a lot of pressure aswell & its hard 2 walk! I havent felt many movements 2day or yesterday either, Had 2 really concentrate on counting them yesterday, have only felt bout 3 movements 2day so far. I'm sure its normal tho near the end isn't it? I hope so!x

I went into a bit of a panic last night aswell youngmum, it all suddenly seemed really real coz i really thought somethin might have happened last nite I suddenly got scared lol!
How are you anyway? x

DogMum · 26/10/2006 11:54

Don't worry Clon, they'll probably offer you a sweep at your 41 wk appt. Ask if they don't. I've been getting a bit tearful, because after all the birth preparation I've done, it doesn't look as though this baby wants to come out by itself. I'm now imagining being induced, nothing happening and ending up with a c-section to get the baby out.

Wuzzle, settle yourself down for some relaxation with your hand on your bump. If you don't feel anything, call your midwife or antenatal unit. It gets more important to check as the pregnancy progresses to the latter stages. Hopefully it's just that things are happening.

Poor you, having a rough night youngmum. Things always look better by the light of day, don't they! DP and I are still a bit gobsmacked that we're going to be responsible for a baby soon.

Hope we all have a better day today - more pain, more mucus - come on!

wuzzlefraggle · 26/10/2006 12:14

Bendy - yeah i get the hard to walk thing too. sounds very similar to the things im getting.

Dogmum - i think ive felt the baby move twice now, so i'll be sure to keep counting through out the day and if i dont get to 10, i'll give the antenatal until a ring or something and see what they suggest.

lol @ more pain and mucus

youngmum21 · 26/10/2006 13:03

well at least im not the only one panicing you wud think we wud be use to the idea now after nearly 40 weeks but i guess untill we have our los it not going to seem real that we going to be mummies feels wierd to write that!!!

LEast you lot are all getting signs that ur babies mite come soon i dont really seem to be having any im not even getting that many bh at the min!!!

Babies movement do become more restricted in the last few weeks because of the lack of space left so try not to worry i keep thing there sumthing wrong but then i get a movement or a prod in the side

nowanearlyNicemum · 26/10/2006 13:29

congratulations chubski and nicand2 - more safe arrivals, that's what we like to see!!

I'm still here, nothing has gone any further so I'm off to hospital in a couple of hours and will be induced on Friday morning.

Wishing you ladies happy and healthy births and when I come back on here I'm sure there'll be loads more birth announcements

youngmum21 · 26/10/2006 13:33

gud luck with the induction just think you will have your lo soon and all will be forgotten take care xx

KATGOD · 26/10/2006 14:57

very amused by the reaction of the young bloke in health food store who is usually slightly sullen, but today when i put my pack of rlt on the counter he laughed and said "god you look like you need that", and another man on the high street said "cheer up mum not long now". and everyone wants to talk to me on the bus. i think it's nice that people are so interested and curious re the whole thing.
have had one cup of rlt so far. had been using an old packet but realised it was best before end 2005 so thought it worth investing in a new pack. midwife fully booked for tomorrow, but the receptionist is going to email her and she may be able to fit me in if there is a cancellation or at lunchtime. It is only down the road. DS had the biggest tantrum ever last night - maybe he's got a sixth sense and knows something I don't?

wuzzlefraggle · 26/10/2006 15:54

NNNM - hope that everything goes well for you tomorrow...ooo, your almost a mum!!

KATGOD, what do you think about the RLT? i keep meaning to drink some, but i havent yet lol

purpleluce · 26/10/2006 18:04

Hi All

Down to a last few of us isn't it. I am due on Sunday and still no sign, niggles or period pains. Was week over with 1st.

Struck me clon that no movement can be a good sign at this stage as I read somewhere that movement reduces before labour (dont think it's an old wives tale)

I seem to remember some NCT stats that more than 50% of first births are late. But once you are late you have a 60+ chance of going into labour in the first 7 days after and 97% chance in following 7 days so it is worth hanging out to 12 to 14 days espec if there is any chance that your dates are slightly out.

Clon think our midwives only give you a sweep once you hit 41 weeks so you can ask tomorrow but can then give you 3 in a row.

Still have time to try reflexology, homeopathy and acupuncture

Re RLT - my understanding is that it just tones the uterus, doesn't actually bring on labour (unfort)

Good luck all

Gingeme · 26/10/2006 18:40

Lol Dogmum you wouldnt have said that had you been here last night/early morning. Edward decided to go on a feeding fest! Gave him his first bath about 8pm folowed by a long feed till about 9 then put him to bed. I had a bath too and went to bed at 10. He woke at around 12 had a feed till about1. Woke again at 2.30 fed till 3.15. Woke at 5.50 and fed on and off till 7. Luckily dh got ds3 up this morning and kept him entertained till about 11.30 when I woke up strving and ready for a shower. My milk hasnt come in yet so hes feeding on semi skimmed at the mo. Midwife assured me that once my milk comes in hell be a bit more satisfied. Hope so Im knackered. Sorry for the long post.
Hope all you ladies having sweeps etc soon are ok and labouring well. Going to have a little stroll out tomm. Wonder what Edward will think of the outdoors.

taffy101 · 26/10/2006 20:08

Congratulations to the latest additions to the babies born list.
Everyone else, hope it all gets moving for you soon. I'm 40+1 today. Got appointment at hosp a week tomoz to discuss options, etc. Hopefully won't come to that. Pains while in toysrus the other day were obviously a sad imitation of the real thing.
My dd was 8 days late so I am not surprised I'm still here. At least with yesterday being my EDD DH bothered to get carseat, pram, baby bath, steriliser, etc out of loft!! Resulted in a sudden realisation that it all needed washing after sitting up there for nearly 3 years. But hey we needn't have panicked.
