no, they've not said a word about sweeps to me so ive not really got a clue

only a few days left for you? what have they told you about sweeps and induction? is this your 1st baby?

hiya bendy! yeah ive got the tea. im sure that i read somewhere on here the other day that its meant to make labour easier or something?? i dunno, im confused lol

yeah this is my first baby my mw says if i get too 41 weeks i can have a sweep which is an internal the mw sweeps her finger across your cervix to try to stimulate it or something like that and it shud hopefully start off labour doesnt always work though!!!!
She hasnt sed anything about induction yet but am not seeing mw till tues so maybw we will talki bout it then!!!
Yep im due on the 29th so a few days to go!!!

Congratulations to Gingeme and mmmmchoc. Glad to hear all went well and you're treasuring your little bundles.

Good news that things are moving DashingRedhead (although I had my show on Sept 13th and I'm still here at 41+4!!!)
Went in to be monitored yesterday afternoon and whilst all was ok the baby didn't move much while I was hooked up to the machine so I had to go back this morning when s/he played to the crowds so all is ok.
I'm now pretty overdue to they're booking me into hospital late afternoon tomorrow and I'll be induced on Friday morning. Really gutted as this is exactly what I've been trying to avoid. Please keep your fingers crossed for me that things get going naturally before Friday

Best of luck nnnm. I really hope your very laidback LO puts on a spurt and gets moving soon. But if you are induced, it may not be that bad. And focusing on results, as a friend of mine says, you will finally have your LO!

yes, drh, I know the most important thing is a healthy and happy baby (and mum ) at the end of it all but it's just that I was induced with dd and it didn't go well at all - ending in emergency c-section. Am trying to be positive that this one will be different though

Congratulations Gingeme. Sounds as though the homebirth was splendid and gives ds3 the chance to get involved straight away. Congratulations MmmmChocolate too. It sounds as though it went really well. Hope you're enjoying your little treasures.

Congratulations on the show too, DashingRedHead (at this stage I think any progress is worth celebrating - I went for a sweep this morning and everything's still plugged up!) Wuzzle, don't worry about the sweep - it's not that bad. We talked about induction too. Make sure that you fully understand what their procedure is, how long you'll get at each stage and what the options are if an individual step doesn't work. Thanks for the link on induction - I read there that a sweep can increase the chances of labour starting within 48hrs. I really hope my baby decides to come before the more serious induction procedures start. Fingers crossed for you too NNNM.

I'm so fed up of being pregnant now & also am dreading if I have to be induced. Baby feels really low now. Am slightly worried as have lost a bit of weight over the last couple of weeks - only a couple of pounds but is that normal for this stage? I'm finding it quite difficult to eat quite as much as usual but am certainly eating enough. Am not due to see midwife again until next wednesday.

Hi ladies. Sounds like youll all be on the move soon. Thanks for the congrats. Had a good night last night. After feeding for about an hour after birth Edward didnt 'eat' all day. I had a shower at 9 then settled down to feed Edward. He happily fed for an hour. After a change of his nasty black nappy he slept till 3am. Had another hours feed then slept till 8.30ish where he had another hours feed. Hope he carries on like this and I might catvch up on some of that precious sleep Ive been missing out on. His ds still thinks hes lovely and keeps peering in on him and kissing his head. Gonna try to bath the pair of them later. See who enjoys it more. Well Im off for a sleep now as both ds's are asleep and dh is at his Mums. Take care ladies. Hope to see some more names on the birth announcements soon. xxx

I haven't read through all the posts yet but have skimmed the babies born congratulations to all!!

Well after a spiced aubergine curry I went into labour on Sunday morning at 5am. I had a VERY traumatic birth and ended up with a c section (I will put the details on the announcemnents thread so i don't put any one off who hasn't delivered yet!!) Toby James was finally born at 10.43 am and he weighed.... 10lb 11oz!!!

I've just got home this afternoon and am a bit tender and surprised at how immobile I am but I do have the most gorgeous baby boy so I am very happy!!
