I didn't feel finished with one, but I know I will with two. Plus I am 40 myself, and though I don't feel old, I know time is ticking!

Hidingthefear · 10/11/2014 14:38

You ladies are certainly making me feel better! I think I might buy some nappies and practise on the cat and dog, they are certainly more wriggly than babies!! Grin
DH says he knows i'll be a fantastic mum and to stop worrying. Wish I believed in me like he does.
We've been telling people we weren't having any so everyone was utterly shocked and his nan even said she never thought she'd be a great grandma! my nan is going to be a great great grandma and is over the moon.

#RantTime
My nan is obsessed with telling me to watch what i eat and that the fatter I get the harder it will be to lose. It's getting very annoying considering I've only gained half a stone since getting pregnant (probably due to the sickness which is finally subsiding at 18 weeks) and am still only 9 and half stone! i feel like shouting "just let me try and enjoy being pregnant!!" i've got enough to worry about without my increasing wasteline being one of them!
ah feel better after a rant.

Cinnamon - the thing is that I'm not at all overweight - I'm a size 8, but I think my family history (my father is type 2 diabetic and my maternal grandmother had type 1) must have contributed.

Last time I was definitely borderline.

I think I'd be high risk anyway given my prior delivery, so in a way at least I get lots of attention.

I have to go to the hospital every fortnight to see a dietician, then an obstetric consultant, then a diabetic consultant. I was told to 'bring a sandwich as you'll be waiting ages'. Not that I can eat a sandwich of course given my new diet!

Moan over.

Must I had GD in my previous pregnancy. it was DULL to wait to see everyone every two weeks and I only did it from week 30!

Now I had an early GTT which was normal (hooray) but repeating it in January.,.. what i did was change my diet a bit to a more GD friendly one when I got pregnant and so far so good and have even lost 500g since booking in day...

My hospital now has free wifi in the waiting room, i just take my laptop and work while I way (under consultant care, so lots of appointments, even if not the GD ones

TinyTear · 10/11/2014 14:59

*wait

cinnamongreyhound · 10/11/2014 15:59

I mean in my case it was overweight but generally they're over cautious with gd because of the consequences.

I'm quite cautious over weight gain because having lost 5 1/2st I don't want to put it all back. I lost weight when pregnant before but obviously won't this time as I wasn't overeating (which I then couldn't) in the first place!

Lauren82000 · 10/11/2014 16:21

Thanks for the pep talk cinnamon. Sometimes you have to be reminded that your not the bad guy. Still feel awful when she has tantrums. She was a great baby (bit grumpy at about 9months but otherwise well behaved) was pretty much great up until she turned 3 then I got a proper Kevin and Perry transformation out of her and this monster who doesn't listen and answers back appeared. I suppose it's good practice for when she's a teenager.

Think I need to do more things in the house with her, perhaps she's a bit bored. Bit difficult as I have little to no energy by the time I get home after being at work all day. More effort is required! Wink

kismac · 10/11/2014 17:18

Weighed myself and I've put on a stone. I'm horrified! I'm 17 + 1 and still being sick every now and then, so thought I'd be ok but nope! Must be cause all I eat is toast and crisps and never used to eat carbs! I was a size 10-12. I keep reminder hubby of that, as I'm so scared of putting on loads of weight. I'm really not enjoying feeling out of control of my body.

RiverRocks · 10/11/2014 17:49

kismac I know what you mean. When I put on weight it goes on my bum and thighs, so I'm finding it hard having a tummy that is just going to get bigger.

I think the best thing will be to put away the scales, eat as healthily as possible and worry about the rest when baby is here safe.

Lauren82000 · 10/11/2014 18:01

I've put on half a stone so far and I've stuffed my face anytime I felt peckish. I put on 2stone with DD. Try not to worry too much about putting weight on as long as you try eating carbs and junk in moderation in addition to getting some regular exercise you should be able to shed it when the baby's born without going all out gym bunny. Don't fall into the trap of eating for two (can't quite remember how many extra calories your supposed to eat but it's not that many more) and remember breast feeding is great for dropping extra weight.Wink Helped me shift mine after DD.

mamabear0315 · 10/11/2014 19:06

lol hiding with my first we tried nappies on the cat while we were anxiously waiting (I had to be induced at 2 weeks over due:/) but my cat loves any attention so he was in his glory haha
I've almost gained a stone already too!:s lol but I almost gained 3 total with ds so it seems like I'm on the same track..I almost feel lucky I've been right sick with both too because I don't even know what I would have gained:p I got lucky the first time it just kinda fell off on its own after a few months..soo praying that happens again with this one! Wink lol

kismac · 10/11/2014 19:09

Yeah, my legs and bum look a bit bigger. Eek, but I think it's mainly bump and boobs. I've gone up 2 cup sizes. I look ridiculous! Ha ha. Now that I don't feel as sick i must start eating better but I think im addicted to toast. Ha ha. I plan on breastfeeding, so hopefully I'll get myfigure back .

Siarie · 10/11/2014 19:13

Well it's pink ladies! So I won't be adding to the boy stats after all!

BrixtonBunny · 10/11/2014 19:14

My goodness, I have no idea how much weight I've gained... Suffice to say it's probably a lot! My tummy is definitely getting rounder by the day and I've now got the biggest boobs that ever existed (even the woman in bravissimo looked mildly surprised... Let's just say I'm now quite a bit bigger than my usual 34GG!) HmmShock

Saying that, I'm currently cooking a sausage hotspot with mash for supper, so clearly can't be too bothered! I need to get out of the "I'm pregnant so can eat whatever I fancy" frame of mind.

Two weeks tomorrow until gender scan, getting very impatient now!

Congrats Siarie, that's what you wanted isn't it? Smile

Lauren82000 · 10/11/2014 19:44

Brixton I had sausage casserole and mash Smile was a really big portion too but not even an hour later I'm sat with a bowl of cashews munching away. I'm going to be so fat this time but I can't seem to help myself. Blush

mamabear0315 · 10/11/2014 19:52

Brixton yeah it's really welcomed news. Takes the stress off now for that girl that I wanted.

Knackered now!

Hidingthefear · 10/11/2014 20:43

Someone mentioned earlier up about eating for 2 and the actual calorie intake and I believe it's only an extra 700 calories. (Which is about a whopper from burger king lol)
I'm doing okay so far but mainly just voz ive been sick. we'll see if that changes if/when cravings kick in. I also find I get full really quick. Anyone else found this? ? I'm not sure if it's through feeling unwell of because my stomach is lacking the extra room it's used to.

congrats on the girl!!

roastpots · 10/11/2014 21:14

I had my 20 wk scan today and all looks good with the baby. We're having a girl too! We already have a DD, so my DH is well and truly outnumbered! I've found out with both and have been glad too. Last time, we got the sonographer to put it in an envelope and we opened it on Christmas day with my family, which was lovely. It's exciting whenever you find out!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/11/2014 21:16

Congratulations Sairie!!

The official guidelines are to only increase by 500 calories in the last trimester from what I've been told. I've gained 2.5kg and reading around suggests you should gain 10-12kg if your bum was in normal range to begin with. I've also got into the habit of eating when hungry as I was sick of not but I'm not hungry as much as I was and I've totally gone off chocolate so my calories from that have gone. Plus I'm still running 12+miles a week so that's an extra 1200 calories a week I can eat and not gain :) my boobs are definitely a cup size bigger and when I lay down my uterus sticks out quite a way. Bf kept weight that is lost during pregnancy off until they started dropping feeds and I did loose a bit more before I started eating all the chocolate that I hadn't eaten during pregnancy over the space of a couple of months!!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/11/2014 21:17

Congratulations Roastpots! Wishing your dh luck in about 11 years time Wink. Have you kept lots of stuff from Your dd?
