Aargh hadn't finished typing... the doctor told me I should have had one today and then the chance to have one or two next week, which is what my normal mw told me. It was a horrible one I saw last week that's too busy selling her hypnobirthing classes to actually do her proper job Angry

pebble82 · 10/10/2014 16:30

Binky, I have my mw appointment next Friday when I'll be 40+3. She said she would do a sweep then but also book my induction at that point. That means I'll only get one sweep too. Annoying.

pusscous · 10/10/2014 16:48

Congratulations to mrsc, ldt, punky and stigz. Hope you get home soon sazzle, been thinking of you and Ned.

Good luck to those in labour/ inductions/cs and those who are being kept waiting.

Flip sorry to hear that you had a bad day, I hD one in Saturday with rude Americans and told dh that I wanted to go home now. I keep hiding at home, easy tgan been pushed out of the way, asked if I speak English or told I come from a third world country. Hope you have a better day.

Lulu298 · 10/10/2014 16:54

Fingers crossed for you sazzle - it sounds very positive

Lily31 · 10/10/2014 17:51

binky could you ask for an earlier sweep? That's frustrating Confused

Hope you and Ned can be home very soon sazzle

goats sounds very positive, fingers crossed you are on the way to meeting lo.

After a day of shopping and errands I thought I'd chill out with my natal hypnotherapy. I must have slept through three cycles - that's a first! Didn't realise how tired I would be in the last weeks.

Puppy sending dh home after DS was born was so emotional (for him more than me - I was pretty occupied by DS. He emailed out a gazillion photos to friends and spent a fortune online shopping for cute baby clothes!). Hope schrondinger arrives soon.

Puss I actually also hid at home today! Decided to actually keep ds off preschool and the three of us had a chilled out morning and dh will come home from work early instead. Could be our last friday as a family of 4 is my official reason but actually couldn't face strangers shouting 'congratulations on your twins!' across parking lots!

Sazzle ned feeding well is excellent! I hope the mri results are good.

Binky that is annoying about the sweep. That hypnobirth mw sounds like the opposite of what you'd want from a hypnobirthing teacher! Reminds me of a pregnancy aquanatal teacher I once had who seemed to be really irritated by pregnant women but yet was constantly going on about how she was a doula if any of us wanted to hire her...

Pregnant I snorted at the chimney comment. You've got the best late pregnancy humour!

Ok ladies, I may be totally wrong but i think something may be happening. I'm having regular surge-y type things that aren't painful (I do hypnobirthing so genuinely don't remember pain from last time) but are noticeable. I've also have a load of energy and cleaned the downstairs bathroom (about to start on the upstairs one!) and just constantly want to be upright and sway...God, I'd love if this was it! But prepared for it to come to nothing...just having another one!

Might just call MIL (she's an hour and a half away but this is a bank holiday weekend so the jersey turnpike may be extra busy...).

MrsBadCrumble74 · 10/10/2014 18:20

Thank you for all your lovely messages. Congrats to all new mummies and good luck to those labouring. My story is very quick literally. I had some small regular contractions at 4am on Thurs am which got closer and longer. I called the hospital and we went to triage at around 9am where I was found to be 3cm dilated with lots to go in ways of progression so I was sent home. We got back at midday and by 3pm my contractions were coming thick and fast. By 3.30pm I needed to push and DH got me into the car and drove rapidly to the hospital. From there it took 15 mins from the door of the delivery suite to Sebastien arriving. And I had no pain relief!!!! I did re-tear my 2nd degree tear from my last labour but midwife said it was inevitable. I had gas and air for the sewing up bit.

hefner · 10/10/2014 18:58

Here's my birth story - it's a bit long so feel free to skip if you're not interested. I had a second sweep on Wednesday morning, and had a bit of period type pain the rest of the day. I started having a few tightenings in the evening, but half expected it to stop overnight. I went to bed but couldn't sleep and the tightenings were getting painful and starting to feel like proper contractions by about 11.30. They got stronger over the next hour so I got up and phoned my mum to come over ready to look after dd (she lives 2 hours away) and then my waters broke. I started using my tens machine and by the time mum arrived around 2am I was having to lean forward and use long out breaths to breathe through the contractions. They then started coming quite close together and I started getting a strong pressure feeling so we phoned the hospital and they agreed I should come in. Got there just after 3am and waited in triage, but after about 15 mins I was feeling an urge to push and had waters gushing with each contraction so DH went to fetch someone and they took us to a delivery room. Midwife examined me at 3.40 and found I was fully dilated so told me to start pushing when I felt ready. I chose to stay on the bed (although I'd expected to want to stand/kneel), the midwife told me when to push and when to breathe through it instead, and Thomas was born 15mins later. He came out with a hand up by his face but I only had a very slight graze. We had to stay in for monitoring but got discharged that evening. I'm glad it's over, but it wasn't too bad!

hefner · 10/10/2014 19:00

I meant Tuesday morning for the sweep - obviously the sleep deprivation is getting to me!

Lily31 · 10/10/2014 19:12

stigz what a gorgeous bubba. So cute, already very pink and looking alert.

Thank you for the birth stories, they are very reassuring actually.

puppythedog · 10/10/2014 19:25

mrsbad and hefner thanks sharing your stories I love a birth story find them very reassuring even when unexpected things happen.

sazzle everything crossed for you an ned getting home I bet you can't wait to just get on with life with him.

Ive decided that I don't want to go into labour tonight and I don't want the contractions back I'm having a Lebanese (my favourite food) takeaway and a beer with dp and watching spike island.

So take that slow labour or what ever you are and shove it!you're not welcome tonight Grin

hefner · 10/10/2014 19:38

Sazzle I'm really glad to hear that Ned is doing well.

STIGZ · 10/10/2014 19:43

Hi guys... Thats me finally getting moved up to the post natel ward, i have been on oxygen, drip & antibiotics due to infection somewhere? Baby has a wee canula in for antibiotics just to be sure i havnt passed on what ever it is?

My waters broke at 11.30 last night.., OMG WOW, there was so
Much just gushing from me ! I was so frightned that her feet where going to pop out, i told dp just to phone ambulance as previous breech labour went so fast.

To cut a long story short i went from two centimetres dilated to ten in 3 hours, i was kept in labour for as long as possible as they where short staffed and run off their feet in surgery! I got some sort of morphine about 5 cm dilated and that was it.. She asked me if i wanted to push baby out as i was fully dilated but i said no as i felt it too risky having never pushed any baby's out?

Operation itself wasnt as straight forward as first.. Took a while to get her out as my bladder had stuck to my previous c/sec scarShock so they had to fix that, plus the spinal didnt work first time so was in absolute agony waiting for pain to go and they had to do it again, or i would be put under general anesthetic! ... My anxiety went through the roof, but have calmed down now, they have put me back on my medication as im not bf

Love her to bits already her name is Arra pronounced (Ah/ra ) she was 6"12 ... Cant wait for everyone to feel this love Grin really not long ladies

cabster · 10/10/2014 19:43

Lovely pic Stigz!

dogs you're about to become parents! Hope all goes beautifully :)

Thanks for the birth stories, every story lends something useful by way of perspective Thanks

ohthegoats · 10/10/2014 19:51

Urgh, I'm back in same boat I was in in Monday - ouchy! Hurting all the time now with the wave bits just being more painful. Currently sitting on loo while leaning again the wall. You know, that thing you do when really drunk in a club or something. Wish I was really drunk in a club...

porcito · 10/10/2014 19:54

Good luck dogs ! Not long now til Schrodinger's with you in person!

Everyone else who's starting /in the middle of labour, good luck too!

Hope you and Ned get to go home sazzle .

Mamami · 10/10/2014 20:12

Haven't caught up properly. Probably something for the Middle of the night feed.

Just to say that baby Violet arrived at 16.16 weighing 7lb 7oz. Unexpected and unwanted forceps and episiotomy but all completely, completely worth it. Hope you're all getting on OK and congratulations on any new arrivals I've missed.

OH and I are now stuck on a mass ward in temperatures equivalent to the Carribean with odd sawing noises Confused and phones going off. Still all smilesm!

Sorry I haven't been very good at keeping up with the thread with newborn to look after but I've still been reading every couple of days to catch up with news. Congratulations to all those with recent arrivals!

Good luck to The Dogs - sounds like it's been a slog and hoping baby makes a natural arrival for you soon goats, it definitely sounds like he/she is not far off.

Loving the recent photos and look forward to seeing you all on the postnatal thread.

I'm struggling a bit with what I think is a refluxy baby but still very much in love of course.

mum2kiss · 10/10/2014 20:39

Wow so we've had to baby violets born on the same day?! How cool is that?!

Absolutely nothing happening here at all!!!

binkybunny · 10/10/2014 20:48
