I agree with Lazer. Don't have any expectations on your labour as things don't go to plan. Go with the flow and you'll be fine.

Also to note: labour is just a small part and it becomes irrelevant once your baby is here and on your chest, regardless of your experience (and everyone is different).

Have you tried massaging clary sage with oil onto your belly or place on a handkerchief and inhale? I used it when being induced as it's meant to help bring on labour (and it was acknowledged by the midwife).

Good luck - what ever happens and we all look forward to hearing when your bubbas arrive xx

Lily31 · 08/11/2014 11:41

Thanks for the tips all.

Just sitting waiting to be induced.... it all feels very abstract at the moment. They're setting up an extra room as the induction area is full. Busy times for new babies.

I'm liking the idea of relaxing the jaw. That makes total sense to me.

All the best LuLu!

Kirstipops · 08/11/2014 11:47

It was troubleandfyfe recommended it and it definitely worked for me, I told my DH to remind me to do it!! It's funny how labour is different for everyone, I found during contractions that it was too uncomfortable to lie on the bed or stand up, so I was really reliant on the ball! All the best, not too long til baby cuddles!!

FlipFantasia · 08/11/2014 12:39

The jaw relaxing is an Ina May Gaskin and hypnobirthing thing. Totally works! Also imagine your cervix opening like a flower - sounds totally woo but helps!

Good luck to you both. I'll be checking in for updates! Can't wait to have the last Oct bubs here!

Lulu298 · 08/11/2014 15:47

Thanks guys. Back from the hospital with 24hr pessary inserted. She said my cervix was posterior and still hard. Fingers crossed it does the trick, as am not keen on the idea of my waters being broken for me, but at the moment I just feel swollen and bruised down there. The lady being induced next to me went into immediate contractions!

Hope you're doing alright lily.

Am a bit clueless about clary sage missus2ndwife. Did you need anything other than the 24hr pessary before labour started?

Lily31 · 08/11/2014 19:29

Hey LuLu,

We are finally home too! It took from 9am this morning until 6pm tonight. Very busy ward, backlog of inductions etc...

Sounds like we're in a similar position - cervix still closed and firm. Not feeling much other than the irritation from the examination I think.

So, it's another night of strictly Smile... Then time to get some sleep in for all that awaits tomorrow.

Pregnantagain7 · 08/11/2014 19:36

Fingers crossed for you both, my second and third babies were inductions I wasn't allowed to go home though after they inserted the pessary. With the first induction I thought it hadn't done anything as the worst I had was a bit of period pain but when the checked the next day I was two cm and they broke my waters then put me on the drip dd born 9 hrs later.

Second induction I started contracting and didn't need the drip.

Sending you lots of positive labour vibes not long to go now :)

Missus2ndwife · 08/11/2014 19:45

Lulu - The clary sage is believed to bring on labour.

I had the 24hr pessary too and rubbed some oil & clary sage on my belly and bounced on my exercise ball. I started contractions at midnight (the pessary was inserted at 6pm) but then they stopped in the morning. My waters broke in the afternoon and contractions started up again later; and my baby was born very quickly.

I don't know if the clary sage helped but one of the midwives acknowledged the use of clary sage during the labour process.

Lulu298 · 08/11/2014 20:17

Thanks missus. I've had period pain/lower back pain for the last few hours so hopefully it's doing something. Hope things kick off for real before we go back in tomorrow. Have had my TENS machine on since 6.30pm - wondering whether you wear it whilst sleeping?

CellyD · 08/11/2014 22:33

Lulu the period pains sound promising. Sorry I can't advise you on the TENS machine as I didn't use one. But if you can sleep through the cramps with the aid of some paracetomol, it's a good idea to get some rest while you have the chance.

Lulu and Lily, not long to go now. Looking forward to hearing news of your little ones after positive induction exieriences.

YellowWellies · 09/11/2014 02:52

I agree with Celly take paracetamol or cocodamol if offered to sleep through early contractions, best to save your energy. Good luck bothThanks

bumpbangbump · 09/11/2014 08:58
