Well done Peace

Your manager is a witch! Sod her and take your time off. Err - why do you have to steam every day for the rest of your life? I thought it was a bad cold?! Sounds odd advice!

I suffer a bit of insomnia at the moment too. Find if I exercise it really helps - even if I'm nackered, it means I sleep better next day

Like the thread title! Grin

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 22:43

It was weird, he said the reason I'm coughing is that my nose is congested (but it feels like it's in my chest) so if I inhale steam it'll go away eventually, and he advised me to do it every day forever to ward off juju colds. He was an ENT specialist so I do believe him.

Just had BHs for five minutes, waah. DH's first reaction to anything tummy-related is "shall I take you to the hospital?!" aww

Oh good question! There's some late November EDDs on the stats page. If not this thread, the next one for certain I reckon!

I feel calmer now the shop is sorted and I know I've got a week of rest ahead of me. Thank you for the support today and last night.

Peace - I have sinus problems which does cause similar issues (and sinus issues are notorious for flaring in pregnancy)

My ENT has given me a steroid nose spray which I use mainly in the summer. I have also massively cut down dairy. Do you suffer headaches? My ENT has not advised steam. It does help when I'm choked with a cold, but not day to day...

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 06/10/2014 23:38

Tbh I've always suffered really badly with colds and ENT stuff since I was a child. My nostrils are too narrow to breathe through so when I'm congested I'm wretched. But this cough just will not leave my body! I'll try the steam for a bit and see what happens. I also think resting will help.

Glad you're feeling calmer Peace.

I've just had a strange funny turn in the bath. One second absolutely fine, the next second: dizzy, sick, shivering and shaking. Had to get DH to come to my rescue. Still feeling a little shakey but much improved. Odd

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 07/10/2014 00:32

That sounds scary Catface! :( are you safely into bed now?

Roonerspism · 07/10/2014 05:03

I'm awake too - head spinning.... Hormones. I still have 9 weeks of work to go! Our mat pay is crap so I have no option but to work right up...

Hope you are ok catface

CallingAllEngels · 07/10/2014 06:27

peace your manager should be ashamed of herself Angry

Now rest (that's an order!).

28+2 today

Lucy90 · 07/10/2014 06:27

Managed to keep myself entertained by ordering new furniture for the nursery and a new bed for me and OH, he doesnt know yet! Hoping to have the nursery finished by the end of the week!
Catface that sounds a bit frightening, hope youre feeling better today!

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 07/10/2014 07:13

Marking Place. 32+6 and no more work for me now as the dr signed me off until mat leave starts.

Problem is I still have a few personal things left in work that I need to bring home.

Had the worst heartburn last night. Had to figure out how to sleep practically sitting upright. Then my calves started cramping. Oh how I love being pregnant Hmm

Taura · 07/10/2014 07:42

Well we had a pretty rubbish weekend. Luckily it was other people, not us or the bump, but still...
My mother got taken to hospital on Saturday night with a suspected heart attack (and had to be transferred from her local hospital to one in my city - a couple of hundred miles, because they needed to use an Angiogram), and we found out on Sunday that BIL and his wife have separated (they have a 3yo adopted son too :() so we're just crossing our fingers that bad things don't come in threes...
On the plus side, only 15 working days to go before pre-mat Holiday...
And 30+3 and baby is I think now starting to turn head down (kicks up high now)

stationaryace · 07/10/2014 08:06

32+2 weeks today. Moving house just now and had our bad three things yesterday, one of which was a leak Shock. GD clinic today and first extra scan so I'll finally get to know how big this little monster is - my midwife hasn't mentioned figures before so I have no idea. 15 more working days til my mat leaves starts which is good as apparently I'm not going to sleep much anymore.

CatFaceCrayola · 07/10/2014 09:27

Pourquoi...time to relax :)

I still feel pretty sick but nothing compared to yesterday. And I actually slept quite successfully (in comparison to how I've been sleeping recently)

And DH has an unexpected day off so can look aftet me today :)

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 07/10/2014 10:06

Pancakes and "maple flavoured syrup". Yas. I'm going back to bed now.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 07/10/2014 10:32

Oh I've broken a tooth. Well, actually it's crumbling around a filling. Fuck. I've taken half a co-codamol and buried my head in the sand. I'm not ready to face dentistry without X-rays or anaesthetic.

OP posts:
SassehMonsta · 07/10/2014 11:28

Ouchies Peace! Glad to hear you are feeling marginally better CatFace.

30+3 today as well, had my flu and whooping cough jabs this morning as was too ill last week to make my appointment.

Everything went mad last week, sick for 3 days, landlady put house on market for other investors/landlords, blood sugars went mad with stress, and decided to start my mat leave yesterday. Luckily, house is now in the process of being sold to another investor, lovely lady, who viewed at the weekend (had 4 house viewings on Sat!!). Bloods are back down to sensible levels now as well.

Still have some things to do to prep for baby, but plenty of time now Im on mat leave - I also have things I need to collect from my office at some point though.... No idea wether to go in on a day when I know people will be there, or hit it up at a weekend to remove my stuff (I have access pass and key for 24/7 access purposes!). Booked in for antenatal classes as well, in Nov, and also a tour of labour ward. Eeeks.

8-10 weeks until baby! AAHH!

LotsaTuddles · 07/10/2014 17:14

Peace, theycan use anaesthetic as long as it's only a local (I find this out afterI hada filling done).

Is anyone else REALLY thirsty?

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 07/10/2014 17:24

Oh Lotsa that's good to know! Thank you.
I'm so fed up with going to the toilet that I'm not drinking as much as I should be Confused it hurts so much to get out of bed anyway, let alone with a full bladder!
Has anyone started NCT/antenatal classes yet? My first session is next Wednesday and I'm excited, but also nervous! I'm not very good at social situations and "ice breaking exercises" are my worst nightmare. Besides, it's 8-10pm which is laaaate for me these days!! Sounded doable when I booked them months ago Wink

Somersetgirl1990 · 07/10/2014 18:02

I've had 3 nct classes so far - love them, everyone is really nice and it's great to be around people that are also pregnant! Dp loves it as well which surprised me! The first week we did a few ice breaking things, but they weren't too bad and were actually quite fun Grin

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 07/10/2014 18:09

Hi All.

THere's a few of us signed off now! I finished my handover today and that's me done! I am still a bit disbelieving that I dont have to get up tomorrow...

I had a good scan today. Didn't realise untl a lovely sonographer pointed it out today that I have an anterior placenta which means that sometimes the baby gets into a position where I can't feel her kicking. I wish someone had pointed this out sooner... Fluid is back to normal, and everything looks good. At the diabetic clinic they were pleased with my blood sugar measurements and are not increasing the dose of metformin and not putting me on insulin so I feel like I have dodged a bullet. I celebrated with a dark chocolate bounty.

I also found out that I will be induced on the 24th November...pessary job then constant monitoring in hospital for anything up to a few days until labour starts. 7weeks away. Eeeek.

Peace I did my first antenatal class in the hospital on Monday with DP. Its taught by the same woman who does the local NCT classes and al handouts are NCT ones anyway. She was fabulous. Put me at ease as I was very nervous. There were five other couples ranging from in their 40s and having an IVF baby, to a teenage couple looking very scared. It was interesting, infomative and fun and I have to say that she's put my mind at rest a lot when it comes to Birth anxiety.
