Crap Mothercare delivery experience here too. They delivered our travel system but only actually brought the box with the colour pack in. A relatively small and light box. When I queried where the rest was the delivery mans response was "are you sure it's not in that box?" (What do you think you muppet!) "Err....dunno, that's all we've got"
Cue stroppy phone call and the rest did arrrive a few hours later

Silver my birthday is between Christmas and NY and it was miserable as a child, but I have been wondering about how much more miserable it might be on Christmas day itself Confused my parents left it too late before offering to do me a party in the summer; I was old enough to know it was weird and not my birthday. So really I want mine to come VERY early or VERY late to avoid the whole Christmas period altogether!

Not Xmas day please!
Actually I was out with some of my NCT group last night, 3 of whom are teachers and they are all hoping to hold out until Jan (due dates from 28/12 to 9/1, so possible), because of the Scottish school year cut off. (I believe that Jan and Feb babies can automatically get a deferment to the next year, if they don't think the child is ready, cut off date is 28/2 for the next year.)
No hope of mine being that late... EDD 13/12 and induction at 40w due to advanced maternal age

espa · 05/12/2014 08:54

Taura you are right re cut off.

Also guaranteed a baby by Christmas as being induced at 40w (23rd). I just really hope (for baby's sake) that it's not Christmas day. I feel bad enough for the proximity to Christmas but 24th would be so much better. Hopefully if I do need to be induced it'll be quick! One of my best friends' birthday is between Christmas and NY and she hates it, my other friend who is a few days before Christmas day doesn't seem to mind it so much.

Nothing happening here, usual aches and pains. Had a decent sleep last night so hopefully have a productive day once I actually struggle out of bed! Grin

StetsonsAreCool · 05/12/2014 09:05

Have sent a request to join the group Monkey - initials KS.

Having a lazy start today. Still in bed, having brought my porridge up Grin Making the most of the alone time, learning my lessons from last pg where I kept busy and then regretted it.

Finding it really difficult at night now. Whenever I turn over my hips make this awful crunching sound. It's not painful, but it doesn't sound good!

Congrats to all new arrivals. What a lot of girls! Grin

CatFaceCrayola · 05/12/2014 09:07

I've been worrying all along about her having a Dec/xmassy birthday. I was really really hoping she would show up early in November :( due on Sunday but no signs. The latest they'll let me go is 19th but that's still too close for my liking.

she's going to have to have 2 birthdays like the queen!

CallingAllEngels · 05/12/2014 09:36

Morning all!

Trying to enjoy first week of ML here but have a rotten cold and DS came out in chicken pox yesterday! Have already had it but baby needs to stay put now until DS is no longer contagious.

I would rather baby comes before Christmas or, failing that, before new year. My birthday is the 1st week of Jan and I absolutely hate it. Only advantage being that I've never had to go to work (teacher).

I find that before NY people are still in a celebration mood but once NYE and NYD are over everyone is skint, on a health kick and/or knackered!

I'm wishing I'd started ML earlier as am much more chilled out now than I was (though may have regretted it if I'd got bored and baby is super late!).

carlene1987 · 05/12/2014 09:37

Congrats to new arrivals!

My birthday is 16th and I've never really minded it. It's a tad awkward that people are generally skint so can't afford to celebrate but it's such a nice festive time. My Mam always made a fuss of me and I intend to do the same when my little boy arrives. I'm due in 5 days but I can imagine him popping out on my birthday. At least I can celebrate with a glass of something fizzy then Grin

I get tipsy from a spritzer in a restaurant or bar, but the ones I make at home are teeny. When DH makes me one it's practically homeopathic, he dilutes it that much!

Oh Jesus Christ. The second parcel from Mothercare is out for delivery, and they've decided to load yesterday's parcel onto the van as well, despite us arranging to pick the fucking thing up from the depot tonight. Same driver initials as yesterday, so if it turns up at all I'm tempted to tear him a new one. Never ever ever again.

Oh dear. We received our pram from them and the box was wet and dirty. Luckily the pram wasn't damaged but they really are rubbish. Just as good as Yodel I'd say :0/

Lucy90 · 05/12/2014 12:18

Peace get on the phone an complain, our goodwill voucher was for £50. They sent it in an email and said we can use it instore or online and get things delivered. I couldnt stop myself laughing when they suggested we order more things for delivery, i mean really-she cant have been serious!!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/12/2014 12:36

They've got half an hour until the window closes, then I'll unleash hell.

StetsonsAreCool · 05/12/2014 13:03

Peace, what a bunch of idiots! I hate mother don't care nowadays. They've closed the branch in our town, the nearest one is a half hour drive - where the staff don't appear interested, they're never on the till, half the time they don't have the sizes of anything I'm after (me, DD or newborn), which then means a second shlep down the motorway to pick up whatever they've ordered in... I refuse to have it delivered to home because of experiences like yours.

Annoyingly, I get vouchers as a Christmas bonus from work, and one of the only baby shops I can use them in is MC. I hate giving them more money, but I need to buy car seats! And probably a whole load of other stuff that I can't afford to spend real money on at this time of year when I've got Christmas presents to buy.

Anyway. Breathe. Wink

WRT breastfeeding and drinking, our local BF advisor says that your blood alcohol level is higher than your milk alcohol level, so as long as you're ok to drive, you're ok to feed. Some more info on the Kelly Mom website

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/12/2014 13:37

And now there's a stone wedged into my McCain frozen jacket potato. Obviously I didn't notice until after I'd cooked it. Ffs. I'm closing the door on today.

Back to bed Peace, and start over again tomorrow. Take Cake and Brew

I've updated my info on the google docs stats page. Not a lot of arrivals info on there though - is it somewhere else, or is it (as I suspect) because everyone's very busy with their lovely newborns?

Lucy90 · 05/12/2014 14:19

Had M/W this morning, a really lovely one who i wanted to take home with me!!
Baby is fully engaged and ready to roll so could be anytime now-i'm going to be on the ball even more and upping my amount of raspberry tea!!
Baby is still measuring small, she thinks around 6lbsish!
Finally finished all my xmas wrapping and now watching cartoons with my 2 year old nephew Grin
37+4 and impatient!!!!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 05/12/2014 15:02

Stetsons I should have just gone to bed when you told me to.
I just managed to break a tooth in half eating a rage Mars bar. I'm actually rather frightened of what else could happen today.

carlene1987 · 05/12/2014 15:05
