Bella yes totally normal, I hate holding other peoples normally.....if you do something wrong with your own its different to if its someone elses precious baby Grin and when its your own and they cry you stay semi calm with others I just think 'oh shit' and hand them back Grin

donkir · 23/08/2014 21:13

Yes Bella I watched it today. What a load of drama. They seem to have to stay in bed and aren't encouraged to get up and wander. Didn't seem very relaxing to me. Definitely prefer our OBEM.

JacktheLab · 24/08/2014 06:55

Morning all,

Bella, I wouldnt worry, I'm not keen on other people's newborns at all, I just seem to make them scream! It's so different with your own, when I had my son I didn't really like anyone else holding him for the first couple of months!

Not much happening here, we brought down the rest of the baby stuff from the loft, so the spare room looks like a bomb hit it literally. DS's new bd comes on th 11th Sept so then we can start setting up the nursery and getting things straight again, which will make me happy :)

I drive a modeo estate, we just bought it just before I got pregnant to replace a vectra estate. Bit boring but ginormous cars and with two dogs and now two kids it will make a huge difference!

jenmcspen · 24/08/2014 07:37

The May thread has landed now, all of a sudden I am actually starting to feel quite pregnant (tho still barely have a bump!)
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Ikea trip and pram research for us! Grin

sandulacek · 24/08/2014 07:58

Morning everyone, what a bliss knowing it's Sunday but still off tomorrow! Grin.

Hardly did anything yesterday, my contribution was a cooked dinner and I started sorting out my clothes. I'm starting to be rounder around my belly and some of the trousers and skirts are just going to the loft right now!

My boobs are sometimes itchy too, especially my nipples but also hurting. Time for a maternity bra me thinks.

All the first time mummies to be, is anyone thinking about the NCT courses? Any experience from anyone else? We don't have friends with kids around us so thinking it would be a good idea to get to know people in the same position Smile.

shellbyville · 24/08/2014 08:23

Sand we did an NCT course first time round, it was great for meeting people. I know the group we were with also did ut for the main reason of meeting people as well, we've all since confessed! Also the actual course is useful for educating OHs as well!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 24/08/2014 08:32

I am much rounder definitely look pregnant!! I have money to spend on maternity clothes this week given By my lovely OH (as I split my trousers this weekend!) so going shopping Thursday! Whoop whoop!

Definitely did not enjoy One Born USA why is everyone so OTT! (Sorry people over there!)

Sand it's my first so I think I'm going to try any class offered! I have lots of friends with kids and family but I would like to go along and see what the classes are like. Smile

I won't be doing NCT I didn't do ante natal or anything last time either. My friend loved it and see's her 'mummy friends' weekly so can see the appeal if thats what you want but I struggle to fit my actual mates in so wouldn't be able to fit another group of friends in.
We have just discovered a wasp nest in our roof, normally I would be straight up there ripping tiles off but I am unsure if I may react to stings while pg. so we are under house arrest (garden is full of them and its a flat roof by the bedroom windows so no airing the bedrooms) until the landlord arrives, I just hope he isn't at his holiday home

LancashireTea · 24/08/2014 17:47

I think we might do NCT classes, but it'll depend on how much work I will still be doing as I doubt my school will sort out cover properly in time for me to have a less relentless timetable after Xmas.

Actually had an afternoon off 'Operation Move' and feel much better for it. But have just gotten home to see that OH has done sweet FA all afternoon and the packing hasn't been touched so a little annoyed.

And still no sign of a bump. It's probably hiding under my flabby belly.

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 17:48

had our scan we are having another boy we are both so chuffed. been Next and bought a few babygrows and bibs

Bangonthedoor · 24/08/2014 17:54

Ah congrats memphis!

Question....do you feel like your pregnancy has been the same as with DS so far?

Mine has been exactly the same as when I was pregnant with DD and wondering if that means I'll have another girl?

What do others think? Starting to carry the same too!

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 17:58

Bangon I was certain it was a girl as I ate for Britain last time this time I am thinner and hardly eating. This has been totally different

LittleMissSunshine33 · 24/08/2014 18:18

Congratulations Memphis!!! How many weeks are you? Was you sick at the beginning??

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 18:24

Im 18 weeks, I was only sick once but had awful nausea thankfully not for long though.
The baby had its hands between its legs for ages I was jumping about and coughing to make it move!

LancashireTea · 24/08/2014 18:48

Congrats Memphis! That is very exciting!!

ProudlymadeinSA · 24/08/2014 19:20

Great news Memphis!

sandulacek · 24/08/2014 19:22

Congrats Memphis! 6 weeks till we have our scan, not sure how I'm going to manage with nearly everyone finding out well before me... Hmm

cactusnic · 24/08/2014 19:36

I'm feeling scared and paranoid - i was sure i was feeling flutterings each evening, but now nothing for the last two nights. I'm really hoping they'll attempt to find heartbeat at week appt, and scan me if they can't (i'm obese, so quite possible they won't) as my anxiety is through the roof just now :-(

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 19:41

Cactusnic try to stay positive i was feeling thumps and flutters then nothing for last 2 days, even been drinking sweet tea and eating sweets (normally gets him partying) and nothing. When the scan went on all i could see were non moving limbs and had a panic but then she turned machine on and could hear heartbeat and once I jigged about to make him move his arms he started partying (couldn't feel it though so when I feel movement it must be almighty kicks)

freneticfox · 24/08/2014 19:49

Memphis Congratulations! Very exciting times :D

cactus I'm sure all will be ok, I haven't had any experience of feeling flutterings yet, but I've been using a Doppler daily for about a week now and sometimes I can't find a heartbeat - I know that it's 99% likely to be because little wriggler is in an awkward position. I hope midwife appointment can set your mind at rest!

Speaking of our doppler, it could become addictive... I know not to rely on it for reassurance but my god.. it's amazing. I cried (full on ugly cry) today listening to baby's heartbeat - there was a lot of random thuds and a couple of swishes where I assume he/she was moving about. Got a bit overwhelmed at what's going on inside me!

Last night was my first night of next to no nausea. I had about 20 mins of feeling a bit 'iffy' but it diminished quickly after some water. Whatever happens tonight, I'm taking that as a win.

Hope you are all having a nice Bank Holiday! x

Bimberley · 24/08/2014 20:34

Congratulations memphis!

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 21:17

I need someone to prise my ipad from my grip. I am like a woman posessed......... Since coming home from the scan I have been on Kiddicare, Babies r Us, Mothercare, Boots, Next. I now have an epic list and another collection to get from Next tomorrow! I fear I am spending my car MOT fund Grin Dh also went into car boot and found 4 packs of nappies from 2 friends whos babies have grown out of them!

longbottom · 24/08/2014 21:38
