Hi Ladies thread 3!! 2nd Trimester we are on a roll!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
freneticfox · 24/08/2014 21:52

On NCT courses - how do I find local ones? DH and I moved to a new town a few years ago and our closest friends are a couple of hours away... we've not really been successful in making local friends so these classes might be a good gateway to getting ourselves out there!

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 22:02

Frenetic go on the NCT website on the courses page it will have due date and postcode and it finds local ones to you.

jenmcspen · 24/08/2014 22:07

Has anyone done the nct classes? Apparently I get antenatal classes thru the midwife, but like frenetic, don't have many local friends so wondering if the nct classes would help me get out there. Also am first of my friends to get pregnant. Just not sure I can justify the cost atm, especially if the midwife will cover it all anyways.

suzimagoozi · 24/08/2014 22:09

Congrats Memphis! Anyone else still waiting for flutters? I'm 17+4 and still nothing Sad As it's my first I'm trying to be patient but am getting sick of waiting...

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 22:29

Suzi a lot of people with their first don't feel flutters for a while yet .

Jenm I didn't do them last time due to costs, I thought it was a lot of money and this time I have friends with babies already. You will meet new mums locally if you look for local baby groups at village halls, home start, sure start, local libraries etc. I know 2 people who did NCT, they have since stayed in touch with 3 mums each, one meets monthly or so just mums and babies, the other meets twice a year for a meal with husbands.

suzimagoozi · 24/08/2014 22:35

Thanks for the reassurance Memphis. Has become my nightly ritual to lie awake waiting.

I signed up to a ridiculously priced NCT course as neither my husband nor I have any relatives on this side of the world so it's otherwise going to be a very lonely experience. Had to convince him that finding mummy friends was worth £370 odd though Shock

jenmcspen · 24/08/2014 22:38

I can't even find a local ante natal yoga or aqua natal class here at the mo. And my midwife has just taken over the area... all the info she had on classes was out of date Sad

Memphisbelly · 24/08/2014 22:44

Jenm I live in an area with it seemed everything but there is no ante natal yogo or swim classes for about a 30 mile radius! My friend lives in Nottingham and thinks they are brilliant so I am jealous, the nearest swim one is a one to one in a private pool and well out of my price range I can afford!

Suzi my neighbour is tiny so presumed she would feel her babies early but she was 24 weeks with both of hers before she felt anything...and rest assured once you feel them it won't be long until it keeps you awake at night with the partying in your belly Grin

blankfornames · 25/08/2014 07:31

Longbottom, I'm not finding out the sex either so we can remain in suspense together! Do you have any gut instincts to what it is?
I was away at the weekend & someone put up photos on FB, I woke this morning to 3 people congratulating me on my bump! I think I'm big enough seeing as I'm not even 15 wks yet!
Can't wait to feel flutters, a slowly growing pot belly & headaches are my only pregnancy reassurances these days!
As sure itchy boobs, nips & belly, yep to all 3, not the easiest things to scratch in public!! Wink

Bangonthedoor · 25/08/2014 07:59

Morning Smile

DD is still in bed so I'm sneaking myself a quick peaceful cuppa before she wakes. Normally she's up at 5:30!

Well we were going to leave it as a surprise and not find out but curiosity is starting to get the better of us Grin DP is desperate for a boy this time but I have a feeling it's going to be another girl so would hate for him to be disappointed at this stage...rather than find out at the birth when it's all so overwhelming anyway and he won't over think it much? Although he would have time to get used to it. What do others think?

jenmcspen · 25/08/2014 08:27

I don't think we are going to find out, although in a lot of ways I think I would like to. I am a bit worried about OH too as he is convinced we are having a boy. I think if it is a girl, better to find out sooner to adjust to the idea...

LittleMissSunshine33 · 25/08/2014 08:37

I'm the same we aren't finding out but I'm trying to convince myself it's a boy because everyone else is saying girl and I don't want to get attached to that idea! Secretly I want to know now but OH really wants a surprise so as it's our first it will be great either way!

bellaboo88 · 25/08/2014 09:23

I'm not finding out either (but I'm desperate to know!)

We said boy until 12w scan, then decided its got to be a girl but dp last night changed his mind to boy. Now 15w. Thought I had a bump until last night when I stood next to bf with her 39w bump! Praying my work trousers come from new look soon, I've stolen some ugly elastic things from my mum!

Also got a maternity coat, I can return if I don't like it plus it got me out of paying delivery charges because I'm that tight

X

donkir · 25/08/2014 09:41

Bella, new look are really quick with delivery however I'm finding h&m a nightmare. Should have had delivery last week but due to a warehouse issue they're not coming until tomorrow. It has given me an excuse to sit in my jimmys though Smile.
We are finding out. I have ds from previous but dp treats him as his own so we've got a boy and would like a girl. Well he would I'm not fussed either way.

Memphisbelly · 25/08/2014 12:08

I need a maternitymassive coat working outdoors its a must but not found one yet

Grinningcat · 25/08/2014 16:19

We aren't finding out either. Neither of us care if it's a boy if girl as it's our first and it will be nice to have a surprise on the day. Mind you various friends and family are convinced it will be a boy as I mentioned I've been slightly more interested in eating savoury foods than sweet stuff. I've always preferred savoury to sweet but there is no telling them. At the moment I'm also really into eating loads of dairy products, but I think that just means I need more calcium rather than I'm having a calf. Grin

freneticfox · 25/08/2014 17:10

I'm in the 'finding out' camp, if we have another DC then we may wait, but we're both too keen to know ASAP!

I have a new symptom today; dull achy pain that comes and goes; right over my pubic bone. Something worth mentioning to my Midwife or is this completely normal?

LancashireTea · 25/08/2014 17:36

We are in the 'Find Out' posse too. OH is Mr Practical and wants to know so he can 'prepare'. Which considering his lack of prep for this move, I will wait with baited breath for the baby prep!

I had a mahoosive cry today. Woke up feeling very down, was over thinking the start of term and my dread at seeing my department. So put on Father of the Bride and had a big cry. Love that film for when I'm feeling weepy as I sob my heart out every time.

Memphisbelly · 25/08/2014 17:49

Grinning I have a mega sweet tooth normally but have turned my nose up this time but with ds my sweet tooth got even worse.

Frenetic weird.....I have had this pain today like a pressure on the top on the bone every once in a while, I said to dh I felt like zi had been kicked down there

jenmcspen · 25/08/2014 17:51

Whether we have a boy or girl, I am def not sharing name ideas with family until LO arrives after today. OH mentioned to MIL a couple of suggestions we had been throwing around. Her reaction was 'oh no, I really don't like those, u can't call baby that.'
FIL is great tho, reminded MIL v loudly that it only matters if OH and I like it...in his words 'sod everyone else, they'll have to get used to it!' Grin

Bangonthedoor · 25/08/2014 18:33

Oh jenm it's so annoying isn't it! It's always MIL that makes a deal
Out of the names she doesn't like. It doesn't change my opinion but it does DP. Why can't they just say "oh that's nice" or "whatever you choose will be perfect"

I'm really dreading that time all over again Hmm

jenmcspen · 25/08/2014 19:15

To be honest so far if she says she hates it, it makes us like it more! lol! Grin

cactusnic · 25/08/2014 19:18

We're not planning on finding out the sex either - i've known a few folks where it was wrong, and they got a real fright! TBH, i also think the surprise will be better for me emotionally - not that i mind which i have.

frenetic - it's likely to be ligament stretching, or could be the start of PGP - if it continues/gets worse, it'd be worth speaking to physio (most areas you can self-refer to women's physio during pregnancy).

Thank you for the reassurance on the coming/going of early movements. I know really that mainly, its a sign of my overall anxieties Blush. I've got my 16 week appt tomorrow, so i'm hoping baby's heartbeat will be heard!

Bimberley · 25/08/2014 19:51

I have that pain to freneticfox! For me it turned into spd last pregnancy and it feels like its happening again. I already can't lift my legs or cross them properly.

I'm feeling awful again. Bad stomach again and been on and off the toilet all day. Feeling very sick now. Have no idea what's going on!

I'm in the finding out club too! 3 weeks until my 20 week scan.

Memphisbelly · 25/08/2014 20:47

Agree with the names throw them about on here or to people you vaguely know but not family and friends, dh is easily swayed against things but I am not so I have made him not mention our ideas, we plan on taking 3 names into hospital with us to de ide on one when he arrives (so weird saying 'he')

If it was a girl I loved Noa, Willow and Wren. All of which when mentioned didn't get best reception.

So far for a boy I love Donnie. I also love Amos and Percy but dh said no way to those two!
I have said before but our surname is 12 letters starting with Q so that makes it hard.

Ds is at my sisters for a sleepover tonight so we have just been for a curry, felt odd like being pregnant with ds again, out for a curry just the two of us and me drimking lemonade Grin
