Hi Ladies thread 3!! 2nd Trimester we are on a roll!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BanglesSpangles · 21/08/2014 11:48

i'd go with what i was told most recently for officialness, but just tell everyone i was due 'towards the end of february' to stop the confusion

freneticfox · 21/08/2014 11:55

Had an awful night last night, the worst one for quite a while. Feeling defeated today, at 14+5 I really wasn't expecting things to be getting worse. It's so frustrating because otherwise I feel fairly ok, not excessively tired, my hair and nails are in really great condition and my spots are clearing up.

It's just this damned night-time nausea!

Memphisbelly · 21/08/2014 12:01

bangles they can tell gender from 16 weeks. company i booked is £50 from 16 but on offer for £35 from 20 so I have lied snd said im 20 they dont measure baby at gender scan.

blank I would go by what hospital say

jenmcspen · 21/08/2014 12:02

Having a bit of a rubbish time at the mo... want to be in work but they are suggesting that I take sick leave as they apparently can't accommodate not having me standing for prolonged periods (which is what my doc recommended as I fainted in work). Feel really stressed out and fed up. My doctor is flabbergasted. Wondering whether I should ring acas or maternity action for some advice?

Memphisbelly · 21/08/2014 12:20

jenm I woukd go and get some advice I am sure if they cannit accomodate you they would need to give you full pay? worth getting some advice.
frenetic I feel so bad for you cannomt believe it isn't easing for you.

just held a 4 pound 2oz baby and I cried Shock Grin Grin

BanglesSpangles · 21/08/2014 13:04

Memphis- that was exactly my devious plan :D - only difference was it was a 4D scan only from 16 weeks, and a bog standard 2D one from 18. Really not fussed about it being 4D- what on earth is the fourth dimension, anyway?!

Think i might go book in now

Frenetic I have my fingers crossed that it's hitting a peak and will be plain sailing from this moment on

Jen I think work can suggest sick leave if they don't think they'll be able to provide an appropriate working environment. I guess you don't have to take it but I guess it's their way of pushing the decision back on to you (stand up or stay home). I've found the ACAS website really helpful for loads of things-it's really clearly written

jenmcspen · 21/08/2014 13:24

The worst part is that they did sort something out over the weekend but now are saying they can't Sad I have had issues with depression in the fairly recent past and they know that the routine of being in work is important for my mental health.

Bimberley · 21/08/2014 14:00

Jen sorry you're having a crap day and your work are not being very helpful. I hope it gets resolved soon.
Well now I feel to book an early gender scan! Ill be the last to know at this rate, and feeling very impatient today :) Off to have a look !

Memphisbelly · 21/08/2014 14:30

bangles the place im going won't do a 4d one before 24 weeks as detail isn't good enough we gad one with ds it freaked my mum out to see it. i want to know the sex but I dont need to see it in 4dGrin Grin

LancashireTea · 21/08/2014 15:02

Oooh! Lovely new threadness.
Exam results were out today, cue lots of stress and not very much sleep for me last night. They weren't great (bottom set and a weak and disruptive bunch at that) but not as bad as it could've been.
Thought I was getting over the sickness too. Managed 4 days without an 'incident'. Until last night. Oh dear lord it was horrific.
Still only a week and a bit till back at school properly and can finally tell my Head (slightly busy today) and Head of Department (typically absent today). Then I can finally 'go public'!

How are you all today?

HerRoyalNotness · 21/08/2014 15:11

jen that's rubbish. What sort of work do you do? Is it moving around or behind a counter? Can you ask them for a tall stool to sit on for breaks?

geeky are you also in the US. I've had one baby a week early and one a week late, so it could be either way! I'm budgeting for no income from Feb, so if I do make the cutoff for the pay, it'll be a bonus.

blank how many times a week will you go to yoga? My work offers a free class once a week at lunch time for pregnancy. I guess now I've told my boss, I can go along, and spy out who else is pregnant in the company.

LancashireTea · 21/08/2014 15:24

Suzi - I've had that awful feeling all week. And I've been going in to clear out last year's junk from my classroom. We've lots of building works at school atm and my class was a bombsite. And stinks. Cleaners haven't emptied the bins since our last day on the 23rd July. Minging.

jenmcspen · 21/08/2014 15:28

I work in retail so yes there is lots of standing, but I am sure there are lots of sitting tasks they could get me to do to break up my day if they tried. I just called acas and got some really good advice which has made me feel better and confirmed that what I am asking for is not at all unreasonable. Am going to have a meeting with my manager tomorrow and try and sort this all out. I just want to work! lol. And memphis you were right they can't make me go off sick if I don't want to and doc says I am fit to work. He said if they really feel they can't make adjustments for me to work then they would have to suspend me on full pay. I don't want that either as I just want to be in work, do my job without putting me or baby at risk, then come home.

MarchEliza · 21/08/2014 15:58

Hello ladies! I am happy to say I have had my 12 week scan and the NT tests came back low risk. It was fun to see the little one and I can't wait until the next one when I can find out if I have a he or a she on the way.

My due date is 21st Feb - I feel huge but don't feel like I've got a nice neat bump - just that I am big all round the tummy area.

Hope you're all doing well :)

BanglesSpangles · 21/08/2014 16:54

Excellent stuff eliza
Spreadsheet is updated- only a handful of peeps that don't have a due date listed now

LittleMissSunshine33 · 21/08/2014 17:00

I'm back go school after next week too and we are expecting Ofsted so have had lots of stressful emails over the summer from management team but in a weird way looking forward to going back as it will mean it's a downward slope til Christmas ... Then baby time!!!! 18 weeks til Christmas!

Jen it's not right my friend works in retail and they gave her a stool they just asked her to stand when serving a customer.

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 21/08/2014 17:21

Jenm my friend sorks in retail and is due in a few weeks. Her companywere total and utter gits, really made her feel like crap but they did offer her a high stool, she folded shirts, priced stuff or worked on the till sitting down.
I am stunned by some of the attitudes of work places and how they treat pg staff. I used to work in retail management and worked a lot in head office etc and I have never seen victimisation like it Sad

Dh is away tonight so I have a cod and mash meal for one, ds eats with mum today. My wedding albums arrive tomorrow, I am so excited.

BanglesSpangles · 21/08/2014 18:41

Ooh exciting stuff memphis- that seems really quick- didn't seem like long ago that you got married!

I am pleased to resort that I'm not in the crap dinner club this week- made Shepherds pie for today. Literally the first proper meal I've made in about a month (domestic goddess I'm not! )

Memphisbelly · 21/08/2014 18:56

No I got married in Marck....was promised these albums in may but there was a delay with the company that makes them in america apparently. It was geeky who got married recently.

BanglesSpangles · 21/08/2014 20:01

Aah confusion! Sorry, what a div! I retract my previous statement- march is bloody ages to wait!

GeekyHybrid · 21/08/2014 20:05

bangles and blank - we'll have to start a dodgy skin club! my boils spots seem to be swelling in size and number by the day.
royalnot we're in the UK.y cousin in CA is about to have her 4th though I'm not sure how she does it with US maternity rights, they're well rubbish.
Consultant went well today, basically fibroids shouldn't cause any issues so still got full list of choices though got an extra scan at 35 weeks to check nothing has moved or expanded significantly which would then limit options, hmmm. However, you wouldn't believe what someone well before me did at the ante-natal clinic?! They only brought an older child with chicken pox! Wasn't picked up until they were in their appointment, after being in the crowded waiting room etc. Yeesh. All round attempt at containment, everyone being asked about previous infection and a delay of an hour to all us folks following and all because someone "didn't think". Hey ho.
Holidays have now started Grin Had chippy chips for tea Grin and Saturday it's off on honeymoon GrinGrinGrin Happy days!

thingsarelookingup · 21/08/2014 20:06

Thanks for the new thread Grin

I'm with you on the spots bangles. I might blend in with the kids when I get back to work in September Grin.

Bimberley I wish I could say I was with you on the cleaning and organisation front but sadly i have been doing far more resting, relaxing and spending time with dh and ds that I don't get enough of the other 10 months of the year. The house could do with some attention but never mind. It'll happen when I get to it at the bottom of my to do list (aka never Smile)

thingsarelookingup · 21/08/2014 20:08

Enjoy your honeymoon geeky. Where are you off to? Sorry if you've already said. My memory is rubbish at the best of times and pregnancy really doesn't help.

GeekyHybrid · 21/08/2014 20:09

ps - Jen glad you got good advice from acas. I was told that if they can't accomodate for you or find you reasonable alternative work then suspension on full pay. Which though not brilliant is better than them forcing you onto sick pay, cheap b***ds. Good luck.

freneticfox · 21/08/2014 20:10

After twatting around with aux leads and an obscene amount of doppler gel, managed to make a recording of bean's heartbeat for my Mum and Mum-in-Law. Emailed it over earlier and they loved it! It's so nice we can do things like this, living a good couple of hours away from my Mum is proving harder than ever at the moment. I just want some Mum-reassurance at times!

Here's hoping for some glow. Some of my nicer work colleagues accosted me in the kitchen this morning to tell me how well I looked, so maybe I'm starting to bloom externally? Even if I'm still feeling sick at night, it was a lovely little ego boost ;)

Hope everyone is doing well! Any big plans for the bank holiday weekend?
