Hi,

I've finally got my BFP and want to find others who want to chat and eat cake whilst being excited about cooking our little dragons.

I am 31yrs old, just got my BFP for #2.

Come in and sit down for the next nerve racking 9 months :)

Sympathy for everyone with spotting. Early pregnancy is such a worrying time. Looking forward to us all being over that 12 week mark.

Still no symptoms really. Struggling to accept I'm actually pregnant. I'm still poas every other day Grin.

Just trying to sort out booking the nifty screening test. £480!!!

Ooh yes I'm having a home birth. There's a special home birth team in my area and one if those midwives did my booking in appointment.

My sister has had 2 home births and said it was amazing relaxing in her own bed afterwards.

DD was born in a hospital and it was quite a negative experience so really want to give home birth a go.

BananaToast · 15/08/2014 13:18

Great they could see a heartbeat so early! Must be such a relief even with the lost days. I'm not 100% on hm dates as I have slightly longer cycles and think I have a short literal phase so I could be just under 4 weeks going on when I think I ovulated but by last period I would be 4+6. Wish I was one of these people who found out at 10 weeks!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/08/2014 13:38

I would love to Kelbells but dh won't hear of it! I was induced with ds's so couldn't really have anything naturally after that! I wanted a water birth and feel at home I'm more likely to be left to progress naturally rather than to a strict timetable but I see where dh is coming from as we are 30min drive from nearest hospital.

BrixtonBunny · 15/08/2014 13:39

Polly that's fab news! You may be 6 weeks though as my sonographer yesterday put me at 5+6 with a 2mm embryo... So maybe different places use different measures? So happy for you xxGrin

BrixtonBunny · 15/08/2014 13:43

I'd love to try home birth, but from what I've heard they can be a bit nervous about it if it's your first baby? Has anyone had a first baby born at home?

CareBearWithFangs · 15/08/2014 13:45

In my area there really pushing home births for everyone, even first time mums. I didn't when I had DD because I was too scared. It might be worth asking about if you really want to do it.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/08/2014 13:50

My friend had her first at home BrixtonBunny, on Christmas Day! She had gd with her second so was induced and had to have her at hospital, which she hated :(

Chococroc · 15/08/2014 14:23

Sorry, missed out some of my stats, I'm 31 and this will be my first.

I spoke to my nurse this morning and I'm booked in for my first appointment next week. As I'm diabetic I will be seen more or less every other week all the way through. I'll be having an early scan at around 6/7 weeks too.

Feeling a little on edge today, I'm quite an impatient person and just want to know the detail about everything straight away, which of course isn't possible! Have a fair bit of nausea too which I don't think is helping!

lila35 · 15/08/2014 14:27

so sorry for you even I had no idea I had crossposted last night, you must have thought I had just ignored you.

ladyflower I guess so yes, I don't think I have a choice being right in the middle. Although I can't imagine thinking so far ahead right now, just hoping everythings ok.

lila35 · 15/08/2014 14:28

Great news polly!! Must be such a relief to see the little thing for real!!

Phryn · 15/08/2014 15:33

Lovely news polly - despite going back 4 days!

Thanks for all the encouraging comments about spotting. The EPU called me back (despite me being a wally and somehow missing off a digit of my phone number)! They were lovely and I have a scan booked in for Tuesday at 8:30am which is great as hopefully my husband can come too. They said it's likely to need to be an internal scan Shock . Any ladies with any experience of this - is the sensation similar to a smear or is it worse Sad. Regardless, I'm still really glad that they are happy to do the scan. The NHS really is a marvel!

PollyBirdy · 15/08/2014 15:51

Home births really do sound much more relaxing - lying on your own bed afterwards as carebear says sounds amazing! I think I'll be too nervous though so will probably opt for the hospital, but I definitely need to do more research.

phryn internal scans are a doddle, really no need to worry about it all. It is a bit like a smear, but I find the scans much much less uncomfortable than a smear. Just relax, they pop in the probe (using gel so it slides in easily) then they rummage about while you watch everything on the screen. They don't hurt at all. It obviously feels a bit odd the first time, but that is more because it is a strange situation lying there! I have had loads over the last few years. If you're nervous, the best tip I heard is to gently breathe out when they put the probe in - and again, when they take it out - it just relaxes your muscles a bit more....but honestly honestly, they really don't hurt at all. They're also usually really good about protecting your modesty with a paper sheet to pop over yourself which makes it feel slightly less odd too!

brixton that is so interesting they dated you further along. I am pretty sure I am 6 weeks by looking at my ovulation days, but I don't really mind being a few days out, just so glad I saw a heartbeat! I certainly wouldn't have expected to see one so early at 5w3d, so just relieved they didn't tell me it was inconclusive and to come back in another week!

So far so good on the bus journey, thanks Grin

Does anyone have any experience with UTIs? I think I have one and I can't get to a doctor until Sunday at the earliest. Is this going to put my bean at risk? Sad something else to panic about!

Thank you for being so supportive ladies. Bleed seems to be turning into full on AF so I don't think this was a sticky bean. Scan booked for 9.15 on Tue so will know for definite then. Just had a wee cry & now trying to put it out of my mind til then.

Phryn I'll be thinking of you & will have everything crossed for you on Tuesday morning too. X

PollyBirdy · 15/08/2014 16:29

Oh wiggly - I am so sorry to hear that, totally heartbreaking. Lots of hugs from me, and hope there is still a chance you might get some good news on tues xxx

cinnamongreyhound · 15/08/2014 16:34

Sorry to hear your are bleeding more WigglyBraddins! Really hoping Tuesday will still give you good news Thanks

WigglyBraddins · 15/08/2014 16:35

Thank you.

I meant to say I'm really pleased for you Polly so cool they could see a tiny heartbeat that early on.

BananaToast · 15/08/2014 16:38

Oh no Wiggly I'm so sorry. Fingers crossed tightly for your scan.

Just had my GP appointment and she has referred me for an early scan at the EPU, it's a walk in set up so I'm going tomorrow morning. It may be too early for me to see anything on a scan so I'm going expecting to be asked back in a week or two. Thanks PollyBirdy for the internal scan reassurance, good to know it's not too unpleasant.
