Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

After a call to local MW and the to the hospital MW a Dr from the hospital called me back with in 5mins and explained that what I could feel was the 'loop' of ribbon they leave for easier removal at 37 weeks. It didn't feel much like ribbon but more like fishing line! Any how as long as I'm not bleeding or in any more pain it's fine. Phew! Had no sleep all night worrying about it on top of DS's asthma playing up all night so we wen't back to bed as soon as the Dr called and only just woke up. Ooops!

Looking forward to hearing peoples scan and appointment news later :)

Loobyloo893 · 08/08/2014 14:35

That's great mummyk8. One less thing to worry about

Keepontrudging · 08/08/2014 15:03

Hey all :)
Glad you are feeling happier sleep. I am also rather anxious about the whole giving birth thing again and did want a c section for sort of same reasons (though not now) I am sure you will get more reassurance from consultant about why they can ensure things will be easier this time. My midwife was able to for me.

Ikkleme · 08/08/2014 19:02

Hi all,

Haven't posted in a while, been for my 16 week app and feel as though it was a total waste of time! My friends have all said you get to hear heartbeat at this app but my midwife didn't :-(

I was really looking forward to it and now just a bit down as I've only have scans which is really just a pic nothing physical

Anyone else experienced this?

16+4

KatnissEvermean · 08/08/2014 19:54

Good news mummyk8.

Ikkle, I think it depends on the area you are in on whether they listen for a heartbeat, there are quite a few people on here who didn't get to hear it at 16 weeks. I think I would have been disappointed too if I didn't get the chance.

I just got catcalled when I was walking home. 'Hey sexy', usual stuff, and was trying to chat to me when he asked me if I had a boyfriend. I just said 'yes, and I'm also pregnant' and he walked away immediately! Haha.

Keepontrudging · 08/08/2014 21:07

Haha! Go you Kat! I found a wee perk of being pregnant is you become kind of invisible to the ogling in a way... Once you are mahoosive. It's quite liberating!

Dec2013mummy · 08/08/2014 21:08

Hoping got a bit of a hand hold tonight. I'm currently away on holiday and just had a very heavy bleed. I'm currently sat in out of hours waiting to be seen. Very scared. Luckily we are away with my parents so mum is looking after Ds and dad drive us as neither me or Dh was really on any state to drive. Hopefully it will be nothing but as it was sooo much and so red I'm very scared.

Keepontrudging · 08/08/2014 21:11

Dec my thoughts are with you. I had a very heavy bleed in my first pregnancy and all was fine. Mine was a 'post- coital' bleed and was down to the cervix softening etc

Please remain positive. I know how terrifying it is though, I shall never forget that experience - but please trust these things are fairly common and I am sure all will be ok. Your in good hands now. Hand holding from afar! X

Dec2013mummy · 08/08/2014 21:13

Thanks keep on. I had a miscarriage before Ds and that was quite different to this so I am holding out some hope. I just hate waiting. 5 minutes seems like 5 hours in situations like this :(

Keepontrudging · 08/08/2014 21:21

It really does. Aww no wonder you are so anxious. There's lots of waiting about in these situations too. I hope you get the reassurance you need soon, dec. Will be. Thinking of you c

cheshirem2b · 08/08/2014 21:25

Hope all is ok Dec. thinking of you.

I've finished work now for 2 weeks holiday... Camping in Cornwall for 10 days... And there's a storm coming! Oh well, we'll have fun anyway! Go Sunday, come back 20th and scan on 21st! Yay!

mummyk8 · 08/08/2014 21:33

Dec2013mummy Oh dear, sending you lots of love and positive thoughts. I know how terrifying the waiting can be in situations like this. So glad your with family x

Dec2013mummy · 08/08/2014 21:48

Well that was a waste of time. After waiting now for over 2.5 hrs since my first call, I was told by the doctor that he has nothing to check anything and that it could be a miscarriage. Well no shot Sherlock! Sorry for the language but seriously. He said it could be a missed miss carriage or could be miscarriage happening now so I suggest you go to a and e. No letter, nothing, so now sat in a and e. What a joke!!

mummyk8 · 08/08/2014 22:12

Dec2013mummy Hope you get some answers in A&E

HelloMist · 08/08/2014 22:49

Hi, I've been lurking for a while but have just added myself to the stats. :) This is my first pregnancy. Nice to meet you all!

I was wondering if anyone else on the thread conceived via IVF?

I've had a small bump for a while (early on due to IVF bloat I think), but I think it's become more noticeable over the last week or two. It might sound stupid, but I'm still getting used to my changing self image... I like the bump in private, but to start with, I was quite self-conscious in public. I've just been on holiday with family, and I think their interest and comments has helped me adjust a bit. Hopefully soon my feelings about the bump will be mostly of pride!

Been having strange (sometimes upsetting) dreams and not sleeping as soundly as I used to. And I get leg cramps most mornings lately. :/ Otherwise, I'm feeling pretty good, apart from very big/uncomfortable sometimes after eating.

Really excited to find out the sex in 3 weeks! :) That's distracting me from the worry of anomalies in the scan.

RPopz · 08/08/2014 23:37

Oh Dec surely not a miscarriage at this stage?? What a thing to say to you. What a horrible time for you. Try and stay positives - I know ladies on other threads and irl who have had episodes of bleeding at this stage and later - it's usually cervical softening/ blood vessels burstage and terrifying but nothing to worry about. Hopefully you'll be seen asap. Hugs xx Thanks

rumisyum · 08/08/2014 23:38

Decmummy I'm so sorry to hear that. And having to wait about... Not what you need at a time like this! I hope you're getting promptly seen to on the A&E and what a good thing you have your family with you. Thinking of you & hoping for good news.

Hello HelloMist! Welcome! I've been having ishoos adjusting to the changing body as well, but starting to love the bump now it's looking a bit more proper. Smile I conceived the month we were due to start IVF, so missed treatment by a hair's breadth. It's been hard to believe it really happened naturally after all that time! Still sinking in I think. I was getting awful leg cramps too for a while - bought some bananas & took a couple baths with a soak that has Epsom salts in & that seems to have cleared it up completely for now.

Thanks for all of the support. They think all is ok thanks fully. Just have to rest and keep a very close eye and go back if it continues for too long, gets worse or if I start to get different symptoms! Think I'm just going to be paranoid now though! It's so lovely to have all of you to talk to though :)

Pesto11 · 09/08/2014 07:46

19 weeks! : )
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend x
13 days till scan and seeing baby again!

cheshirem2b · 09/08/2014 07:56

Dec I'm so glad they think everything is Ok. Fx it is all ok for you and is just "one of those things"

Today we are taking our cats to the cattery, loading the car with all the camping gear & then singing for a wedding. Then the plan is to get an early night and set off around 6-7 tomorrow morning!

Anyone else got plans for the weekend?

Babysprout · 09/08/2014 08:00

Morning everyone! Glad everything is ok mummyk8 and dec2013. We really don't need these dramas do we!

rumisyum I like your description of starting to 'love the bump' that's how I felt until I went to warehouse to get some flowy tops to wear with bump and nothing hung right. I had to have a word with myself and remind myself my body is changing but not forever - I think it's just this in between stage when you still fit into some normal clothes but not all. I think the bumpier I get the better it'll be!

After my mid wife's overreaction I had scan yesterday and we got to see sprout having a proper little wriggle then curl up in a ball. Very very cute. All ok!

I am still getting brown discharge though after 2 weeks which the midwife doesn't seem at all concerned about.....?

Hope you've all got relaxing weekends planned and hello to hellomist

KatnissEvermean · 09/08/2014 09:56

Hello HelloMist!

Glad to hear that it sounds like things are okay Dec, sounds like the doctor wasn't much help in reassuring you last night.

My DH and I have gone a bit mad shopping for the baby. We managed to find some really good deals at Kiddicare and a few other places and decided we may as well buy now while it's cheap. The last bits were delivered today, I'm a bit horrified at how much stuff we have got so early and our house is full of flat pack! We have managed to get a cot bed, mattress, change table, wardrobe, drawers, bouncing chair, moses basket and stand, bedding set and a play mat for £420. That's all the big stuff out of the way, and we're not buying anything else till nearer the time (I swear).

HenriettaTurkey · 09/08/2014 10:05

Sorry to hear about all the dramas: glad everything seems ok. Fwiw, with dc1 I had quite a lot of bleeding, but this was apparently the womb lining, and no concern at all. The sonographer showed me on the scan to reassure me that, while I could expect the bleeding to continue, it wasn't a problem.

blizy · 09/08/2014 10:17

Dec, what a worry that must have been for you, so glad everything is ok.

Mummyk8. How are you?

I got back from holiday yesterday morning, exhausted and then had to deal with my cat. He was stung by a wasp in his mouth (he tried to eat it), his wee face was really swollen and he was howling in pain, a trip to the vet for some antihistamine and lots of cuddles was prescribed. Poor fur baby was feeling so sorry for himself, I was sobbing too.

I'm jealous of all the 20 week scans happening, mine isn't until 17th sept.
Glad all is ok with the bumps.
