Jump aboard ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm going to be really annoying now and say I'm ready. Nursery done, toiletries for me and her, new dressing gown, I even started the Xmas shopping. But I am organized by nature and I am due early Nov. Work is about to get crazy buzy and I knew it was coming so set a September deadline for everything to be finished. The downside being we now have time to argue about all the last details. What decals to go on the wall, do we have room to keep the living room chairs, how late in the pregnancy can do go out drinking (currently agreed on 3 weeks before).

Having said all that I feel like my body is telling me to slow down. The nausea, stomach aches and now a terrible cold. So don't be too hard on yourselves ladies, pace yourselves, enjoy it :)

ladydolly · 01/09/2014 07:25

I've just realised how smug and patronizing I sound in that post. Can we blame it on the insomnia/cold and the fact I was trying to make myself feel better after my first sneeze =wee leak??

pinkgirlythoughts · 01/09/2014 07:57

I'm not at all ready for baby's arrival, but I did buy all the Christmas cards and family birthday cards for September-December at the weekend. Does that count? Wink

ToniWol · 01/09/2014 09:03

Another one not fully organised here. The furniture was only ordered last week and we've at least made a start on moving things out of the nursery this week. Need to hand on the Guide stuff and start on the knitting. That'll help.

4 weeks left at work. Although for the next 2 I'll be on my own for at least part of the week because of hols. Hopefully we won't have anything major happening.

NCT started last week. Someone DH and I used to do amateur operatics with was there. Her first is due the day before blueberry!

utopian99 · 01/09/2014 09:36

Not fully organised here but largely due to the fact that our organisation mostly involves an afternoon of sorting ds' old stuff. Am hoping it'll all come together on that weekend (October 11th,) as we're going down to my parents where it's all stored - have everything for labour inc tens machine which I never used last time, and third parties to look after ds briefed. Not planning to pack hospital bag till mid October and birth plan will be a print off of the last one. (Plus dh is my walking birth plan and was suitably ferocious last time in getting our points across!)

Need to book bednest still - although we might put the hammock up in the living room too..

Am back in the gym at long last! Woo! Is it wrong that I quite enjoy the nervous looks it gets from other users? I definitely lool further on than I am..

TwigletFiend · 01/09/2014 09:41

lady, commiserations on the weesneeze (snweeze?). I have to admit that there are times I'm riding my horse and have to take a pause to clench. Hope that makes you feel better!

For those with no furniture yet, Asda have a baby and toddler sale on at the moment which has some furniture etc in. Some stuff doesn't look great, but some of it is really quite nice! Includes cribs, drawers, nursing chairs and the like so quite useful - have ordered my crib, chair, mattress & bedding while it's cheap, which has helped my slightly frantic re-budgeting this morning when I discovered a friggin' massive hole in the bottom of my car Confused.

I have to confess to feeling rather chuffed because my sister has just started working for Johnsons and gets £50 a month to spend on Johnsons product at cost price. Have loaded her up with a massive order! I am aware that I will probably go through baby wipes like water, but any clues from non-FTMs as to roughly how many you used in a month when you had very little DCs?

Toni, small world! How nice to have someone you already know there Smile

blamber · 01/09/2014 14:11

Car seat and crib/cot are the essentials I'd say. And of course some clothes for the baby to wear. That means that if you have the baby early you can at least leave the hospital!

blamber · 01/09/2014 14:40

Has anyone's breasts starting leaking? I was drying my hair yesterday when I noticed a stain on my Tshirt at nipple height. It smelled sweet...

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 01/09/2014 15:06

Start NCT tonight which I am looking forward to.
Have another scan due to club foot on Wednesday so it will be lovely to see the bub again.
I'm feeling huge and another 8 weeks of work seems rather daunting at the mo!

utopian99 · 01/09/2014 15:32

That's a good connection twiglet! I reckon in the first few months ds needed to be changed about 6 times a day at least, and 1 wipe for wee, 2 for normal poo, 3 for poospolosions, so on average 2x6x30 = 360 or so? We stuck to cotton wool and water for at least the first month though if memory serves..

Crikey I'd forgotten the frequency of nappy changes.

Vicky5910 · 01/09/2014 15:49

Hey Blamber high five on the leaking, me too! :D boobs are at battle stations, ready! I'm relieved as one of mine got broken when nursing my dd and it appears to be leaking the same as t'other, so horrah to two working boobs!

blamber · 01/09/2014 16:31

Vicky I thought it was very early to happen! Good news for you on both boobs working though!

Miskate · 01/09/2014 16:37

I also start NCT tonight! Really looking forward to making some friends who don't think I'm a baby obsessed loser....

Annarose2014 · 01/09/2014 17:05

Nothing happening boob-wise here. But I'd better start expecting it....

We've been gifted a lot of 2nd hand stuff by family, so nothing to get but travel cot for kitchen (we have a dog so its for safety when doggie is trundling around).

But in terms of small things I have NOTHING! So when today I was in Tesco I actually bought nipple shields and Lanisoh. (Yes, bfing is my main preoccupation!) Btw, nipple sheilds are way pricier than you'd think. Ditto the Lanisoh.

Tesco also have some cheap packets of 7X babygros in plain white which are great value. I've stocked up on those for the hospital. I figure if we're gifted any clothes they'll probably be the cutsey stuff rather than the plain practical stuff for underneath!

Also bought some of the Tesco unfragranced baby wipes to try them out as have heard good things - but now worried that the midwives in the hospital are going to be all about the water+cotton ball technique which is probably better but realistically not what you're gonna use at 4am after a poosplosion. I may have to hide my wipes like contraband! Grin

Paully06 · 01/09/2014 17:48

Hey all,

Can I jump on board for the last slog of my pregnancy?? :)
Im 30 weeks, due 8th Nov. First baby. Really excited! We are very organised, and ive left myself nothing to do, so think it'll be a long 10 weeks ahead!! So far so good, no problems at all other than back pain and sciatica!! Ive only got 4 weeks left in work, so the countdown really has begun!

Hope all well xx

Vicky5910 · 01/09/2014 18:11

Hi Paully it's not long for you now...! :)

amy83firsttimer · 01/09/2014 19:26

Welcome pauly - I'm pretty much same as you - 4 weeks of work left, due 10th and pretty organised.

Hey Ladydolly your "sneeze=wee leak" made me smile - same happened to me today Blush. I was SO surprised, then jumped up from drying my hair to rush to the loo! DH hadn't got a clue what was going on!!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/09/2014 20:10

Cheap mam bottles
www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004BATV96/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item

And pampers sz 2 be quick as sz 1 already jumped to full pricewww.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008QUB4O2/ref=pe_385721_37986871_TE_item

Petal26 · 01/09/2014 20:53

Twiglet no idea how many wipes i got through last time but I think they have a good shelf life. I have 4 boxes, 12 packets in each box, from the last Asda baby toddler event in the garage ready to go! 'can't resist a bargain' and i'm a bit of a hoarder!

Anna I think Lasinoh had 20% in Boots for parenting club members, also... I bought loads of cotton wool last time and didn't use it, straight onto the wipes, no problems from midwives in hospital, pooslposions my reason!

Petal26 · 01/09/2014 20:54

meant to say 20% off in Boots...

CraziesTogether · 01/09/2014 20:58

I've got with the programme. Big online boots shop done today full of items for all possible escapes of body fluids. Gross!

NCT starts Thursday evening so sure that will be even more of a wake up call!

Welcome Pauly. Wish I had only 4 weeks lefts but no such luck Sad.

Another question. How many size 1 nappies should I buy?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/09/2014 21:21

Crazies sz 1 nappies work on 10 per day n 2weeks worth so 140ish 2 boxes of 74 pampers or 6pks aldi one's will be enough to start as depends on baby sz how quickly move onto sz 2 n you will use less after first few weeks as will only change at night if poo.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 01/09/2014 21:24

I buy 150ish sz1 and 250ish sz2
Masses sz 3 n 4 and have a good stash while on full pay so don't have to buy too many when on mat pay. I only buy on offer
Wipes we also stock up on with first didn't need to buy any til he was a yr old n I was back at work. Wipes we used about a packet a week but noticed pk sizes have got smaller.

Petal26 · 01/09/2014 21:38

Did a big Boots order and had to 'refuse' the parcel. Box was open, boxes inside were all squished, paperwork missing, no good :-( More annoyed that it means I'll have to go and lug all of the things I need out of the shop myself!

I've got about 300 size 1 nappies, about a months worth. DD 6lb6oz and was in them for weeks...
