Thanks Kantha - I'll try to remember to just keep the interesting ones! Grin

Annarose2014 · 23/08/2014 18:24

I think when you're in the hospital they have a look at the ones you're actually wearing.

When I have a patient who has had a hysterectomy I always have a look between their legs to check their "PV loss" i.e. How much they're still bleeding. I just say "I just have to check the pad" and get in there!

But if its any consolation to the shy, to me its the exact same as checking my own pad in the loo. All pads look the same with blood on them, tbh!

ToniWol · 23/08/2014 19:28

My word - we've had a checkover of what we have for Blueberry so far, but sounds like I'll have to start getting stuff for me as well.

We've ordered the nursery furniture today, and I've tested the paint on a bit of wall so we know that the paint will cover the wallpaper. It seems to be getting much realler now.

MrsDowneyJunior · 23/08/2014 20:36

They must have hoovered me out a bit during the c-section because my bleeding was really not bad at all, like not even as bad as the first couple of days of a normal period. I don't remember any clotting or pain or any nasties at all. Smile

Petal26 · 23/08/2014 22:47

I didn't have to show anyone a pad last time.
I remember wearing disposable pants for the first few hours (horrible!), then Mothercare's own 'maternity pads' for a few days and then normal sanitary towels after that. Bled for about 4 weeks so will be stocking up. Got loads of maternity pads from 3 years ago left over so will use those first!
Thinking about doing my big boots order as well now...

weeonion · 23/08/2014 22:56

evening - how we all doing?

31 weeks here - its is getting closer and closer........

I never had a pad checked but mw did ask how many i was using when they were feeling tummy to check how womb was shrinking. I used mat pads for about 2 weeks and then lochia pretty much stopped. woman are all different though - one pal continued for about 2 months.

i do remember going to loo after 3 hours after birth and passing (TMI WARNING!!) - a clot about the size of my fist. that freaked me big time but reassured by nurse that it could be usual.

amy83firsttimer · 24/08/2014 11:27

Morning all! 29 weeks tomorrow and getting impatient already. Baby very active but definitely not cooked yet. Just wish I could press fast forward to 4th October when I go on maternity leave. I'm getting my moses basket from my mum a week on Thursday and I'll be pretty ready then. Anyone one else over-prepared and already playing a waiting game???

#studiously ignoring talk of lochia

ladydolly · 24/08/2014 14:15

Amy definitely. 30+3 here and look ready to pop. Also just waiting for moses basket from my sister and we're all set. Got baby's coming home outfit today. I need a few more things for me (pads and lotions etc) and that's it. I don't finish until 24th Oct though! ??

Baby is very active, less punches and kicks and more stretching and rolling. Belly looks like that scene from alien!

amy83firsttimer · 24/08/2014 15:36

I don't think I look ready to pop but did measure big at 28 week appt (student midwife though and tape seemed loose). I'm just bored already. I'm well-known for my impatience and normally cope with boredom by drinking so I'm in new territory here.

Annarose2014 · 24/08/2014 16:30

Oh I'm ready to pop too. Have suddenly gotten enormous! Sick of it now, want it over. Feel very third trimester today!

Finished 5th Sept! :)

Annarose2014 · 24/08/2014 16:32

Btw 30 weeks today! Very exciting!

ladydolly · 24/08/2014 17:41

I measured totally average, in fact just under, but I keep being told how huge I am... Which is nice. Some days I love being pregnant and others I'm totally fed up. I'm somewhere inbetween today, nothing more taxiing than sitting on the sofa but I just can't get comfy!

utopian99 · 24/08/2014 18:18

Hi, been absent on holidays but just catching up.
Re lochia I remember bleeding for about 2 weeks last time but I know it varies hugely. Like most others I bought a multi pack of cheap black pants from sainsburys rather than dedicated mat knickers. Do think that maternity pads are better than normal pads though for softness though.

Alita7 · 24/08/2014 19:20

I'm also a bit fed up, it's got to be time to meet him now!

WorkFreeWannabe · 25/08/2014 05:53

Hi Ladies!

Back from Hampshire, had a wonderful spa break including back and foot massages plus a facial. I need a pregnancy massage chair in my life - so comfy!!

So I'm up at the crack of dawn again. Hit 28 weeks on thurs and have been so uncomfortable since. Normally I sleep through but now I'm up 2-3 times a night and can't fall back asleep, I wouldn't even mind if it was for loo trips. Anyone suffering the same and has any tips?? Angry

amy83firsttimer · 25/08/2014 07:07

Top tip would be don't pick up your phone. The light reinforces the message it's daytime. If you must read something make it a book or magazine. Are you in same bed as your DH

Kantha · 25/08/2014 07:35

About 3 days ago I was congratulati myself on how well I had been sleeping. So of course, the last two night have been a bit rubbish. Feeling like I am only dozing, up once for the loo and once for DS2 who sometimes appears in the middle of the night. This morning (Bank Hol) I was going or get the lie in, but DH was snoring his brains out and I was wide awake, so here I am watching cbeebies with DS2. I am wondering if it is linked to to heavy duty iron tablets that I have just started. They definitely constipate. Much preferred spatone, but latest blood results showed that they weren't helping enough.

weeonion · 25/08/2014 08:36

Morning all!

A full nights sleep is also mow a dim memory with a combo of 2/3 lol trips a night and sore back, knees, shoulder and elbows. I am all propped to make sure I am on my left side but ache with it... ( also.. Do not get whooping cough jab in left arm....)

Ah well - all good practice for no full nights sleep but next .... Maybe 2 years!!!!! (grin)

bunnykitten · 25/08/2014 09:06

30 weeks today!

I think I've managed 4 or 5 nights of completely uninterrupted sleep since about week 6. Not an exaggeration. I keep joking with DP that one day I'll learn to sleep through the night like a baby. It's either constant trips to the loo or being kicked awake by the bump. Bah! I guess it's practice for the next few years.

Are we still meant to be sleeping on our left sides? I think I have been most of the time but my left ear is getting sore!

weeonion · 25/08/2014 09:12

bunny - my active birthing books and lazydaisy classes recommend it right up to labour..........

bunnykitten · 25/08/2014 09:33

Weeonion In that case I will definitely get the whooping cough jab on my right arm - thanks for the tip!

pinkgirlythoughts · 25/08/2014 09:44

I keep waking up in the night, or very early in the morning and can't get back to sleep... sometimes it's for the toilet, and other times just because!

Greenstone · 25/08/2014 10:06

I'm just the same, bunny. I don't remember what sleeping all night feels like. A brilliant night is getting 3 hours sleep in a row. The rest of the time it's loo trips and fighting with my restless legs. The particular combination of twitchy legs and kicking bump is actually incredibly annoying! It would make more sense surely if we all got lots of lovely lovely sleep before the baby arrives.

The last few nights I haven't lifted DD for the loo in time so she has gotten out of bed herself and come crying up the hall - not wet, thankfully, but in a right state to go to the toilet. DH is must faster than me at hearing her and getting out of bed but for some reason the last 2 nights she's been hysterical and only wanted me, so I have to get up for that too. It's an odd one because by day he is totally the favourite parent.

Thanks to whoever suggested the Boots order online. I wasn't sure if this was possible in Ireland but I just checked and it is, so...YAY! That's just made my life a million times easier.

It's absolutely pissing down here this Monday morning! How is it where everyone else is?

Hopeful83 · 25/08/2014 10:13

I'm so glad it's not just me. I've been feeling a bit fed up off and on since 28 weeks (30 tomorrow) as I suddenly feel so uncomfortable all day and night. I can't get to sleep, then have at least 2 toilet trips in the night and wake up at other times too. I also can't get comfy on the sofa in the evenings and am finding it harder to get up and down. I find it much easier to sleep on my right side, not sure why. Is that really bad? I tend to alternate sides all night long. Sorry for the rant
