I much prefer my right side too and usually end up there. Don't worry about it too much.

Yeah, the sofa in the evenings is ridiculously uncomfy. I've started to sit on my gym ball instead which is much better. I think it was around this time in my last pregnancy that I stopped being able to sit properly for an episode of whatever series we're watching and go have a bath or something instead. This is definitely the crappy uncomfortable part of pregnancy Brew

A suggestion for those worried about buying embarrassing things (or that they'll need to send their partners out for them!) - self service checkouts!!!

Personally I'm not worried about buying stuff (although my husband might be!), I'm more horrified about the indignity of giving birth and the aftermath. I'm sure I'll get over it, I guess I'll have to!

bunnykitten · 25/08/2014 10:28

Time for some happy thoughts:

  1. building work on our house finishes this week so I can finally start nesting
  2. I seem to be having a straightforward healthy pregnancy
  3. going on holiday in a week

That's better! Smile

bunny = i hadnt considered sleeping when getting jab. I honestly am not fussed about injections but this one has left me with a swollen tender musclewhich i wish i had on right side. that way i wouldnt be lying on it for a few hours!

I am also on bouncing ball in evenings or i have a load of cushions on sofa so i am propped forward with my knees lower than hips.

I am really worried about babys position - was transverse at last scan / appt and i have to get it shifted or else no homebirth! I am trying so hard not to slouch back and to have my pelvis aligned with knees lowered.

have also been reading that with transverse - there is a risk of cord collapse so IF my waters go - I have to immediatly fall to the floor and stay there still emergency services arrive.
OK I am only 31 weeks so highly unlikely at this stage but every time I make a noise - my colleague who shares the office is ready with emergency numbers. She has also got a box ready with mat pads, paper towels and kitchen rolls just in case Grin

bunny Smile Grin

Positive thoughts

I have a happy healthy funny fiesty daughter who made me laugh this morning with puns and word games

I have finally finished my bunting and curtains for babys room and v pleased with the "Big Top" / Curcus effect created

I have a very yummy loaf of home made bread which i fully intend to eat the whole lot of for lunch Grin

Pink, I pretty much feel like you all the time. Getting up just because! I hate sleeping on my left, but manage it most of the time thanks to my pillows. Sometimes DH has to roll me over when I end up on my back.

Amy, I really try to avoid looking at my phone, but after 1-2 hours of just lying there I can't resist. My DH is in the same bed normally snoring away. He sleeps really badly so his tossing and turning doesn't help.

Thanks for the idea Greenstone. I'll have to get my gym ball out as sitting up is really uncomfortable at the moment either in bed or on the sofa.

I've done absolutely nothing where the nursery is concerned, luckily the walls are already painted. It's currently stuffed full of crap from when we moved in and had building works on. It all needs to go up into the loft, but I'm currently waiting on my uncle who is no rush whatsoever to fix our loft ladder which we had to disconnect when we had insulation installed. Furniture has been ordered, deposit paid, but nothing else. Delivery is scheduled for mid October as long as we pay it off on time! I feel woefully unprepared!

weeonion · 25/08/2014 12:26

we are constructing our BedNest tonight - to check that it is compatible with our strange bedframed bed!!!!!!

amy83firsttimer · 25/08/2014 12:58

Workfree - I'd be kicking husband out if possible. You need your sleep more than he needs his, you're growing him a son or daughter.

Mini has decided to hold a party on top of my cervix. Feels really odd! I think it might be practising engaging but that seems a bit early (29 weeks today).

ladydolly · 25/08/2014 16:25

posy me too!! All day today with some nice long stretches for added discomfort, feels like my lungs are being squashed at the other end. Ohh the joys is pregnancy!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 25/08/2014 16:53

weeonion · 25/08/2014 17:32

Happy birthday to yr ds eastmids

utopian99 · 25/08/2014 19:57

Happy birthday for ds eastmids!

I feel woefully unprepared for this one too, not least tying up jobs as I'm self employed so trying to pare things down before the birth. In many ways there's not nearly as much to prepare, but I think we do need to bite the bullet and trade our beautiful stokke pram for a baby jogger city select to take two of them, plus get down all ds' s baby stuff and sort out the new born and 0-3 months bits, medela pump (barely used last time but hey,) stretchy wrap, tens machine, gym ball, baby hammock.. the list goes on!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 25/08/2014 20:07

Thanks one tired boy in bed

ToniWol · 26/08/2014 09:06

Morning ladies

Hope everyone's feeling rested after the Bank Hol. We had a jaunt out to Beningbrough Hall nr York.

Am starting my last five weeks, and am using the last of the A/L to start 45 minutes later in the morning. Have had a good weekend baby wise. Have ordered nursery furniture, bought the car seat base and decided on what bedding and carrier we're going for. Also haven't felt too bad although still sleeping patchily. Also a bit of a busy week with Aquanatal tonight and NCT starting on Thursday.

Have told DH he needs to blow up my gym ball, and discovered my bean chair is extremely comfy (even if I have to get onto all fours to get up from it. Not that that's anything new!).

TwigletFiend · 26/08/2014 11:42

Good morning, ladies. I've been away from the thread for a while, so it's lovely to catch up and see how everyone is doing! I have had some issues with my BP and ended up housebound for a few days last week after fainting and whacking my head. Luckily it has stabilised again now and Bean is perfectly healthy, according to all available tests. Nobody is quite sure what caused it to dive, however, but I'm hoping now that it's steady again that will be the end of the problems!

eastmids, belated happy birthday to your DS! Smile

My preparations are going ok - I have painted the ceiling and walls in the nursery this weekend, so now just need to lay the new carpet and it will be ready to put the furniture in! I am still waiting for my lovely wall sticker to arrive too, and have ordered some Roald Dahl themed fabric to make a blind for the nursery window. I would thoroughly recommend kidscurtaincompany.co.uk for fun fabric prints, if anyone is looking.

WorkFree, I hate sleeping on my left too and frequently wake up on my back. I am also finding it increasingly difficult to sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time - I still have terrible acid reflux and feel quite sick if I lie still for too long. Argh!

weeonion, I am keen to make some bunting for my nursery too, can I ask how you've done yours?

Hope everyone else is feeling ok. We bought our pram this weekend - Mothercare Orb. It's currently on sale, £125 off so if anyone was looking at getting one, I'd grab it now! That's the 'old' version, not the limited edition one though. I loved that, but couldn't justify spending an extra £175 on it just because it looks different. We also bought car seat, adaptors and isofix base at the same time - it came to just over £600 all together, which I am quite pleased at given that it's all new!

WorkFreeWannabe · 26/08/2014 12:30

Welcome back Twiglet! Sounds like you've had a time of it recently. Glad you're on the mend and baby is well.

I hope you enjoy your trip Toni

Just got in from my Glucose test. I can still taste the sugar in the drink yuk! First cup was alright but it got progressively worse Confused. Got the hear the heartbeat again which was reassuring although it took the midwife a while to find it as he's lying back to back. Apparently I'm measuring a week ahead, I'm not surprised as this baby is quite long like his Dad. Fingers crossed results of the test are okay!

blamber · 26/08/2014 13:18

Twiglet I'm glad your bp is back to normal. The midwife told me that drops can be quite common in this stage of pregnancy, but when it happen its quite scary so hopefully it will stay away from now on!

I also long for a proper night's sleep. Everything just aches. I want to sleep on my left side but have to turn frequently because my hip starts hurting.

Our nursery is just full of baby stuff dumped in there. I'll start sorting it out when I'm off work and I'll start buying all the rest of the baby/labour stuff. Not long now, ony four weeks to go! Taking all my annual leave and then start maternity leave.

I've been so uncomfortable sitting in public transport. The seats are terrible and my lungs get squashed. But today I found out that putting my coat rolled up in the small of my back makes a lot of difference!

weeonion · 26/08/2014 13:46

blamber - also finding it hard to breathe at times. been sneaking off to do 'space maker' movements / exercises which seem to help but not sure if you would have the room on public transport to do them.

twiglet - bunting. I dint follow a pattern as such. cut out a triangle shape in card with proportions i liked. I placed 2 large pieces of fabric together - patterned side - allowing 1 cm extra all round and used pinking shears to cut out. I used zigzag stitch and sewed all the 2 pieces of fabric togetehr in bunting shape. I used broad bias bindng as my top "ribbon" and folded over the tops of each piece of bunting . I used old pieces of fabric i have had for years ( i have a soft spot for vintage fabrics - especially scandinavian prints) , some old patterned shirts from dp's ( that he wore in a trendier retro phase of life) and some fabric from old dresses / skirts / shirts of mine (from a real 60's kick i had for a while in the 90's.) I also used fabrics from some of dd's old clothes that i loved and couldnt quite bear to part with. I also included some new fabric to match baby's curtains (all spots and stripes).
The bunting is a real combo of memories (and a good way to use up scarps and bits that have been around for years!)

workfree - i think the measurements can be all over the place! Glad you got to hear heartbeat - its always reassuring to make that connection again!

pinkgirlythoughts · 26/08/2014 17:07

Got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time today :) Also got told that I'm measuring perfectly for my dates. The girl at work who is due at the end of September and has a tiny little neat bump has apparently measured two weeks ahead of dates consistently throughout her pregnancy- I'm constantly being told that I'm 'enormous' compared to her, I'm much bigger than she is even though she's due first, am I sure it's not twins, etc etc, to the point that I've been quite tearful about it at times, so being told that the bump is actually just as it should be gave me a nice little moment of smugness! Grin

Vicky5910 · 26/08/2014 21:05

Hi ladies, nice to see lots of updates!
I've been on fetal health ward all afternoon with suspected pre-eclampsia. It seems unlikely, so they have let me home on the promise if they call with positive blood results I return immediately.
I feel so ill! But I am glad to be home, they had no beds so I was asked to sit in the hallway and give up my bed for a lady who needed fetal movements monitored. No way was I going to sleep there!
Roll on the next 8 weeks, until I am on mat leave...

Alita7 · 26/08/2014 22:31

Feeling nice and prepared after a shopping trip with my Nan just to to finish paying for my pushchair and get the cot, mattress and sheets and a few little extra things and we're all set :)

Must ring up about the whooping cough jab!

I'm sleeping on my left side mostly nowadays :)

I recommend this raspberry leaf tea it's really nice!

blamber · 27/08/2014 10:10

Vicky I hope you'll feel better soon!

blamber · 27/08/2014 11:31

Anyone doing lazy daisy classes, what do you do in class? Do you need to follow a whole block of classes or can you just jump in? I'm thinking about doing some but not sure if I'll like it!

ladydolly · 27/08/2014 14:15

blamber I am and really enjoying. It was recommended to me by my sis who had 2 natural births (of big, nearly 10lb babies) and said she’d never have been able to do it without them. It’s a mixture of stretches to make pregnancy a little more comfortable, relaxation/positive affirmations/hypnobirthing (or hypnobirthing lite as I describe it), positions and moves to encourage labour to progress naturally, breathing exercises and the most useful part an explanation of WHY all these things help, what’s actually happening to your body at different stages of labour. A lot of it is about feeling more in control and informed for childbirth.

It depends on the teacher but mine seems very honest, she always reminds us, it doesn’t always go as planned, the course won’t make it not hurt and that it IS hard work no matter what! But I still feel a little more prepared and certainly more positive about what’s to come!

If nothing else it’s nice having a little ‘me’ time and to be with other ladies feeling the same way I am, the teacher saw my seabands and there was a collective sigh of sympathy when I told them I was still getting morning sickness.
