Live!!! That is ridiculous!! They should have an option that is suitable to pregnant ladies, even in the first trimester!! And any decent therapist will know what they can or can't do. I'm a beauty therapist, the salon I work in has treatments that are completely out in pregnancy but also options for pregnancy. The only thing you should completely avoid is massage (1st trimester only) and pressure point massage during facials. I'm gobsmacked!!

How disappointing live

I had a poo g massage at the end of my 2nd trimester last time and it was heaven! Looking forward to doing the same this summer.

Just been out to get a few pairs of trousers, a floaty top and hat for the summer. Nothing in my wardrobe seems to fit! Need to go through all my clothes and pack away what's off limits for the next year.

No bank holiday here, though a lot of the prjmary schools have the week off so expecting it to be busy in town today.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 26/05/2014 10:32

You sure can Madrigals, all your normal treatments are fine - mani/pedi/waxing/tinting etc. Its just massage, body treatments and some facial you need to be careful with. Word of warning though - it will probably hurt more now. Increased blood flow will make that area more sensitive.
I've often done Brazillians and Hollwoods on full term women so they're hair free for labour! Lol!

CallingAllEngels · 26/05/2014 10:34

I need to proofread before I post!!

pg massage, not poo g massage!!

PomeralLights · 26/05/2014 10:53

So excited I found this thread! I'm 8+3 with my first, been to a pre-booking appt so far but my booking appt isn't til next mon, the I think the midwife will book me for my scan. I have to choose place of birth before my booking appt...think I'm going mlu.
Suffering from terrible ms, particularly nausea, still in bed!! Have always wanted twins so this is giving me irrational hope haha but I know it's v. unlikely if doesn't run in the families.
My clothes are starting to get tight too! Have plenty of non-work comfy clothes but not sure what I'm going to do about office wardrobe...

MelMc73 · 26/05/2014 11:12

Welcome pomerallights! Mark's and spencer have some skirts and trousers with elastic waist bands ir just buy a size bigger in regular trousers and skirts. Or how about wrap dresses?

Ikkleme · 26/05/2014 11:13

I'm currently 6+2 and think i have had my first proper symptom today, was sitting and felt as though I was going to be sick, then it passed... Made it seem a little more real :-) although if it does kick in properly don't think I'll be as happy lol x

fancyacupoftea · 26/05/2014 11:18

Poo massage teeheehee

fancyacupoftea · 26/05/2014 11:19

Oh god people get their muff done before labour? That's a thing? Oh well the mw will just have to think less of me for my flowing fanny locks.

PomeralLights · 26/05/2014 11:24

Thanks MelMc73! Call me Pom :) I have bought one pair of bigger size trousers in m&s, went to buy another and had gone up another size so am afraid I flounced out of the shop...
I've had bad ms and am only 8wks, how can I possibly have gone up two dress sizes!! :s I know I'm being silly...
Ikkleme, it's lovely getting symptoms early on even if they're horrid, isn't it? Makes it feel real :) this thread is properly cheering me up even though I've been sick for two weeks coz it's reminding me there's going to be a baby! Lol

EnglishGirlsReturned · 26/05/2014 11:29

Fancy they do indeed!! I wax regularly anyway so intend to keep that up. But midwives must see all sorts!!

Starbright24 · 26/05/2014 11:34

I was wondering what a poo g massage was and why it was lovely. Lol Grin

going to go look for bigger clothes too today if I can leave sofa. Not feeling great and doesn't it only get worse as hormone levels increase more?

Hi Pom :)

Hope the sickness doesn't get too bad ikkle.

any dragons here? The thread has disappeared for me. Anyone else got that problem?

MademoiselleG · 26/05/2014 11:36

Starbright I still have the dragon thread - weird!

EnglishGirlsReturned · 26/05/2014 11:51

i think if you don't post very often it drops off you're 'i'm on' list Smile

Dec2013mummy · 26/05/2014 12:38

Hello all. Sorry to hear about everyone's ms. I'm feeling rough too today... Must be something in the air.
Congrats and welcome pom. In 8+1 now by my dates although the early scan said different. (Sax measured the same size but not bean).
I need to ring the local children's centre about my joking in appointment, for those of you worried about not knowing what happens in your area, I have no idea either as it has all changes apparently since having Ds and he is only 5 months!

Tmi alert!

Just dtd and created a massacre! Blood everywhere... Was a bit worried but think it's due to your cervix having a lot more blood vessels, will keep an eye on things and speak to doctor if I get pain or any more bleeding. Think it will put DH off anymore dtd Wink but was quite enjoying it until I realised.

So word of warning ladies, be careful!

haquoi123 · 26/05/2014 13:37

lulu that sounds terrifying! Glad it's not too worrying, fingers crossed :)

live, I had to cancel my center parcs spa appointment as they said I wouldn't be allowed anywhere in the spa as I was under 12 weeks. So disappointed.

EnglishGirlsReturned · 26/05/2014 13:48

Bloody hell Lulu!! Definitely put me off dtd now!! Hope all is ok though, fx it is just your cervix!!

Minibagel · 26/05/2014 13:56

Joking in appointment :) we get the best typos on pg threads!

I have been away for a couple of days but just caught up with the thread. Congratulations to all the newcomers and fingers crossed there will be lots of wriggly babies at the 12w scans!

Lulu some people have small etrusions on their cervix which never cause bleeding before pg but once pg can cause extra bleeding. You should definitely mention this to your mw/ dr as you would if you weren't pregnant. They recommend women on top during pg so you can control the depth, speed and strength (!) of penetration. I had a mw also tell me that some women find switching to oral helps them maintain a healthy sex life. Take from that what you will!

Minibagel · 26/05/2014 14:12

Update from me is a few days overdue. Booking in appointment in 7 days, I think I'm 6+5 now although will need a scan to date this pg as I conceived after a mc with no period in between so could be more. I did another pg test to see the no of weeks go up to 3+, because when I did them in my last pg (the one I mc) it kept saying 2-3 for ages and then I had cramps and some bleeding. I bought a double clearblue digi pack as its only a couple of £s more so I have one left. It's burning a hole in my pocket. Maybe I'll save it for the day I go to the mw, but then i'll be almost 8 weeks so it wont say anything any different. Gah. Poas addict!

I feel for all of us with ms, mine is daily now, although just nausea not sickness.

As for the safe foods list, I go by what the nhs say. The dr told me the argument against some alcohol (rather than heavy) is a moot point with the royal college, but that I might want to avoid it. I had a sip or three of cold white wine with a meal the other day and it was so good. I wont be making a habit of it. I don't know who mentioned it but its right that some foods are banned because of making the mum ill (salmonella) and others because they harm the fetus. Some people take a view that they dont mind getting ill as long as baby is ok. I sort of feel like that this time around. I already have a healthy ds.

If you live abroad you should probably ignore the nhs and go with the safe food list in that country as each one is different based on their food processes?

bedsidemanor · 26/05/2014 16:56

Hi all,

Just back from my dating scan. Everything was looking perfect and we could see the heart beating which was so strange! I was measuring 7+1 but my dates put me at 6+6 - happy to be an extra couple of days forward!

The doctor was lovely and even got married at the same church in the UK DH and I did (we're in Brussels now). He didn't seem at all concerned about the fact that I had MS and was barely eating anything - said it was a great sign!

I think you're right minibagel about the safe food lists being different for different countries. Apparently, in the UK, toxoplasmosis is really rare but it's in the food chain here in Belgium!

How scary lulu! Hope you're fine now!
