Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ilovemonstersinc · 24/08/2014 09:32

Thank you. His levels were 256 and they still didnt treat him Hmm hes having them checked again today. He looks more yellow to me and dh. His chest and neck and legs look yellow now too. Ive started him on formula too now to trt andflush this out of him. He was hardly weeing before. He has me first then top up.
hows your lo?
how is everyone

MrsNutella · 25/08/2014 07:46

monstes do you have a window that let's in lots of light/sun that you could lay him next to? Apparently blue light comes through the glass of windows and helps against jaundice. It's what we have had todo with DS and DD. Leave as much skin exposed as possible.

DD seems to be growing before my eyes. She is still feeding well but she often feeds all evening and doesn't settle till 1am. I'd quite like to change this since DS gets up at 7.

ilovemonstersinc · 25/08/2014 08:31

Yup we have him in front of them sliding glass window doors and all the sun comes in from there. Hewasnt drinking an awful lot at first so now im pumping and ff too.
How is your dd? How old is she now
ds is 6 days. He lost the 10% of birth weight but that was expected

this baby wasnt planned for but ive bonded much better with him and I think thats because im bf and delivery was less traumatic than other2.

how is everyone else?

HungryHorace · 25/08/2014 10:35

We found taking DS out in the sunshine worked more quickly than having him by a window, but if your weather is like ours today, that's not possible!

It sounds like he's feeding well now, Monsters. That should really help shift the jaundice. Have they said if they'll give him light treatment at all?

We are all fine. Bit chaotic with a 1 month and a 14 month old, but it's great having both of them.

ilovemonstersinc · 25/08/2014 12:21

Weather is horrible here and dont want to over do my limits atm as I know iron is atill pretty low and feel pretty shit about it.

Yup hes feeding good now. Didnt have much time to pump 5mins on each as ds2 was hungry but managed to get 2oz so very happy. Last time pumping failed so the fact that hes having some breast milk is brill.

Horace im sure your a long lost twin lol just aro

FriendofDorothy · 25/08/2014 23:58

Oops this slipped off my active list!

flymo79 · 26/08/2014 07:18

Congrats monsters! My little girl was same weight as your boy at birth! I hope he's doing well and getting over his jaundice.
We are struggling to get dd's weight up, I caved and went for the formula last night. She guzzled 80ml after a feed from me, made me feel pretty terrible if I'm honest. Next weigh in on thurs, please send good vibes!! Confused

HungryHorace · 26/08/2014 10:33

You've nothing to feel terrible about, Flymo. So many mums do what you have (I gave up bf after only 2 weeks, as I also did with DD). As long as they're getting fed, it really doesn't matter whether it's BF or FF. DD is one of the strongest, healthiest, kids you'll ever meet.

Good luck for Thursday. I'm sure it'll be fine. :-)

flymo79 · 27/08/2014 06:23

Thanks hungry, it doesn't help that loads of my friends are militant bf-ers and behave as though formula is some kind of poison!

HungryHorace · 27/08/2014 09:23

If they do that then a) they're not true friends and b) they're talking utter shit.

It's just wrong to talk like that to anyone, let alone a new mum. It's just a stick to beat new mums with and, to be honest, they can FRO. Sorry, but I get really angry about people like that.

ilovemonstersinc · 27/08/2014 10:05

Exactly what horace said.

Good luck I hope lo has put on some weight. How much does she weigh now?
He was 9lb5 then went to 8lb6 and tbh looks the same. He gwts weighed on Friday. Hes taking less than 2oz of pumped bm and the same of formula. Hes having wet and dirtt nappies so is obviously getting something

im still losing massive clots. When they pass I can feel them. The other day the mw had been and felt tummy and that evening I lost a big one. Feels like when you pass placenta. This happened last time but only once and ive passed around 4. Getting scary going for a wee now. Just rang mw she didn't pick up but she will ring back

flymo79 · 28/08/2014 08:43

Thanks Horace and monsters, going for weigh in today.... Nervous!
She spits up a lot of formula and then roots around at me, but usually it's not long after I've pumped so I have to put up with a screaming baby! Not sure I've got the routine right....
Sorry to hear about clots monsters, call postnatal ward if you can't get hold of mw?

ilovemonstersinc · 28/08/2014 14:13

Just keeping eye om the clots atm.

Baby has been sick twice today. Eldest has reflux and has done froms day0. Hope its not tge start of that. Eldest is4 and still really poorly with it. Hes now tube fed.

Fly how is her weight?

Horace how are you and baby doing

flymo79 · 29/08/2014 05:35

Oh no, sorry about the reflux monsters, sounds worrying. Can u get to see the paediatrician?
Baby put on 45g and midwife was really encouraging so feel better than I did at last weigh in. DP was back to work yesterday so had first day of solo parenting. Scary!!

ilovemonstersinc · 29/08/2014 09:59

He was sick twice yesterday. Almost sick last night so I stayed up watching him.
Knackered now.

Mw coming today to weigh him.
He doesnt really wake up for feeds.

Glad your dd has put on some weight. Its better than losing it again!

How is everyone?

How's disney? Shes due tomorrow I think?

HungryHorace · 29/08/2014 11:46

We aren't too bad, Monsters. DS has some reflux too and the wedge I ordered for him has arrived today. Hopefully that'll help. He's good otherwise...putting on weight well. :-)

And any gain is good, Flymo. Well done. Solo is scary to start with, isn't it? I feel the same about solo with 2!

ilovemonstersinc · 29/08/2014 15:21

Im currently solo with 3!
At mums but shes popped out.
Baby is asleep. Ds1on ipadds2 is next to me while I pump playing catch Hmm

mw has been. Shea concerned baby hasnt got back to birthweight yet and still jaundice and not waking for feeds etc. Shes doing the prolonged jaundice test on Tuesday when hes 2weeks. The other day he slept7 hours, through feeds and nappy changes and clothes changes!

She said try infacol, keep him upright etc she knows the history with ds1 (failure to thrive, reflux etc) and is tube fed due to reflux so if he's still refluxy then he needs to be seen asap. His sick is projectile, he doesnt fill his clothes its the area aroumd him!. Its not every feed though so just watching. Dont want to not feed him so hes not sick as he needs to put on weight.

She said she thinks im really pale and will be taking my blood on Tuesday too. Ive had blood transfusions with the other 2.

I still have ds1 wedge. Need ti dig it out.

flymo79 · 30/08/2014 03:09

Oh monsters, sounds horrid. Glad MW is getting it checked out. How are you doing yourself? Xxxx

ilovemonstersinc · 30/08/2014 03:19

He was sick again. Dh thinks its the formula. Will buy some anti reflux milk I think.

I don't feel too bad atm. Just tiree. Been upsince 1.30am. Just pumping now hes had a feee.

how are you? Dd?

flymo79 · 30/08/2014 20:37

Sorry I missed this monsters! I should've pumped at three am too but was so tired I fed dd and fell asleep! Now I have no expressed bm and need to give her a ff to get her off to sleep. Motherhood fail Hmm
Did you get the anti-reflux stuff? Any change?

ilovemonstersinc · 31/08/2014 10:11

Didnt get it as thought id see how next 2days go as mw is coming home on Tuesday.

Hes still sickly.
was sick 3x yesterday. Once so forcefully it came out his nose too :(

ilovemonstersinc · 31/08/2014 10:12

Can I ask how old is your dd now and how much are you getting when pumping?
Baby is 12 days and im getting between 2-3.5oz.

flymo79 · 01/09/2014 02:04

Dd is 3.5 weeks and I only get about 20ml at each pumping session...

ilovemonstersinc · 01/09/2014 03:33

How often do you pump?
How is everyone

flymo79 · 01/09/2014 18:00

I try to pump twice a day, it's slow going and I have to feed her first so not always a lot left! Still, I would rather give her a bottle of ebm in evening than ff so am aiming for that
