For those of us due February 2007 and moving from the first to the second trimester ...

We've made it this far - only another 6 months to go! (Gulp!)

Wickymum - i had severe dizziness when pg with my ds, I was hospitalized a few times with dehydration, was vomiting right the way through with him. Its happened a few time this time round too. DS is 4 now and knows how to ring dp if anything bad happens! It is quite scary though, i once had to pull over when driving till it passed!

babydriver · 18/08/2006 12:57

Goodness what a lot of posts since yesterday!

wickymum, I had a bit of dizziness when pg with DS. Think it was mild anaemia (never quite low enough for blood tests to be major concern) but tried to eat red meat and drink vit C with meals - helps absorb iron apparently. This time, my homoeopath advised Ferrum Phos tissue salts which I feel are helping. Your dizziness sounds a bit more serious. If it's anaemia the blood tests shd pick it up and I'm sure you can ask for one if you're not due to have any yet. Beware, iron tablets taste nasty and make you constipated (had these after DS was born) - can recommend instead drinking Floradix which tastes weird but not nasty.

currantbun, looking forward with fingers crossed to a positive posting from you this pm.

flowertot, are you around and OK? Hope things are alright but we can offer an electronic shoulder to cry on if need be.

biggerbytheminute · 18/08/2006 13:00

CurrantBun thanks for new thread & I hope the scan has made you smile!
Very excited to all those who have felt baby move.
Thanks too to whoever said you could get Gaviscon from GP - just stocked up. Forgot to ask her about sleeplessness - any recommendations for this?
Just tried to change my name to Ajax but another lucky mum has pipped me to that post... I fear I have become slightly obssessed.

titchy77 · 18/08/2006 13:31

wickymum I have been getting bad dizzy spells every day its quite scary as i only ever had one dizzy spell with ds once, i have my 1st mw appointment on wed and will mention it to her then.

CurrantBun · 18/08/2006 13:51

My scan went really well - absolutely incredible to see the baby. Oddly neither hubby nor I got emotional (I'd thought I would beforehand) - but we're both quite practical people and were more fascinated with being able to see the baby from every conceivable angle and the wonders of modern technology than the huge emotion of it all.

I feel hugely relieved as everything looks absolutely normal - with all the tests, my risk of Down's was reduced from 1:148 based on age alone, to 1:3000 with the combined results of the scan and bloods. That's the same risk as for a 15-year-old, which really put it in perspective for me. They also checked the flow of blood through the heart and the flow of blood from me to the baby, all of which were fine. Based on these results, we've decided not to go for the CVS test as the 1% risk of miscarriage now makes that more likely than us having a baby with chromosomal abnormalities. Obviously I know that today's results are just a risk assessment and don't carry any guarantees, but they're good enough to give me some peace of mind.

They gave us a few photos too - including a couple of 3D ones which are incredible. Baby is sitting up, with its legs crossed and arms up next to its face.

Feel as though I can relax a bit now - and of course tell everyone we haven't already told!

Oh, and my due date is still 26/02/07 as I'd calculated - scan didn't date it any differently. So I don't need to move to the March club, which is good as I'm liking it here!

FABULOUS NEWS Currantbun!!!!!!!!!!!! Really delighted for you and DH and the risk ratio is excellent! Enjoy being 15 again! The pictures sound gorgeous!

Tommy · 18/08/2006 14:35

good news currantbun

shanks313 · 18/08/2006 15:20

My incredible hunger last night turned into very bad heartburn,I couldnt even lie on one side and was up from 4am till 10 when i managed to get back to sleep.
Called GP for a phone consultation and he said Gaviscon.

babycheese · 18/08/2006 15:23

Hello everyone just got a spare few mins so thought I'd jump on and say hi as daughter is going off for sleep.

Wickymum your little girl sounds exactly like my daughter, I laughed at your description of toilet. My daughter has also been rubbing my back and running to tell daddy that mummy is "dik" as she cant say "sick" which is quite sweet.

They are good really its amazing how forward they are for their age.

Haven't had any dizziness myself yet I would mention it to midwife. Was nice to say you have felt baby as I posted last night that I thought I might have felt baby move but I think baby is bigger for some reason, have proper bump now which is scary.

Has anyone else had any movement yet??????

jellyplate · 18/08/2006 15:30

Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to the site. My babys's due at the beginning of feb.
I've felt it move quite a few times and have quite a big bump . Was shocked as didn't show till quite late with daughter.

weston · 18/08/2006 15:41

just had my 12 week scan..we didn't believe it was true until now but there is a baby there!! can't wait to start telling everyone now

and for some retail therapy..have TWO weddings to go to in Nov and Jan so trying to look for a dress to do for both, anyone both from isabella oliver? they do a 16-18 (size 5) and a 20 (size 6), i am currently a size 18 and wonder which is best to go for??

julezboo · 18/08/2006 16:02

I would wait nearer the time hunny!

Has anyone else lost a silly amount of weight due to sickness, i wasnt that worried as it was only a few pounds last week but i just checked again today and its just over a stone Ive lost!!!

sorkycake · 18/08/2006 16:38

I've gained 4 pounds so far . You know some of us have a weight that we don't go over, well I'm over that now and even though I keep telling myself it only happens when I'm pg it's still pretty hard to acknowledge for me.
It's getting better though cos now I look unmistakably pg, not just fat .
Hello to jellyplate btw, and welcome to our huge board!

shanks313 · 18/08/2006 16:50

I have lost a stone snce beng pregnant and still losing.

sorkycake · 18/08/2006 16:52

Shanks, have you managed a nap yet as you were up so early?

shanks313 · 18/08/2006 17:08

Luckily I managed to get back to sleep around 10 this morning and got back up at 2pm.
In total I probably have had about 9 and a half hours sleep so not too bad.

Although I feel so sick today

I have a question for everyone-are the amnio and CVS tests compulsory?
I recedived a letter today from the hospital about my 19-21 week scan and it says about other details and it says for amnio and cvs.I thought it was only if you wanted them done.
I dont know if its just a standard letter or if i have to get it done,as my nuchal fold test yesterday came out at low risk.

babydriver · 18/08/2006 17:17

Good news currantbun, really pleased for you.

And welcome jellyplate. Good to hear of someone else with a big bump - I think I look ridiculously big for 4 months!

weston, I haven't actually bought isabella oliver stuff but think it looks lovely. I've bought a few work things this time from seraphine which are really nice and not too pricey - not sure how far their size range goes though. Good idea to do window shopping for now if you can bear it as you'll grow alarmingly bumpwise!

right, I'm off now. Broadband got fitted at home today so if we can figure out getting it actually working on the laptop I may be able to manage a weekend post at last!!

TuttiFrutti · 18/08/2006 17:49

Great news Currantbun!

Shanks, no, CVS and amnio are entirely voluntary. If your scan has shown a low risk for Down's, you may well decide not to have them because they carry a 1% chance of miscarriage.

I'm actually feeling quite well today, for the first time for ages. No tiredness at all! Could this be the start of the "blooming" stage???!

babycheese · 19/08/2006 14:52

Hi everyone, hope all of you are enjoying the weekend so far.

Is anyone else still being sick? Thought it was near an end but was really sick this morning and have felt rough most of the day.

julezboo · 19/08/2006 17:53

Ive been the same today babycheese, For the last week its just been in the morning but today Ive felt yucky all day and shattered!

N1SEXYTING · 19/08/2006 18:21

Hi

I'm also glad to be in my 2nd trimester as I've known I was pregs from the very beginnning which means this 1st trim has really dragged on for me!

I'm looking into buying some maternity bras as my friend reminded me the other day i shouldn't be wearing underwired bras anymore so out goes all my sexy matching bras

Tommy · 19/08/2006 20:35

was going to ask about bras!
Feel thta I should go and get measured but don't want to be pressurised into buying a new one as I have probably about 20 different bras of varying sizes in my drawer - one of them must fit!
I think I'm going to try and measure myself and put "find a bra" on my to do list...

Yes - I am still feeling sick - it kicks in about 4pm

fatfox · 20/08/2006 07:31

Hi there

I thought I'd drop in and say hello. I had my first 12 week scan on Friday too. I thought baby was due 3 March, but have now been told it 26 Feb!!! I have another nuchal + bloods etc tomorrow (think its called an OSCAR test), to double check everything, as I'll be 43 and am slightly worried about risks etc. First nuchal reduced my risk from 1:36 due to my age, to 1:167, which is positive stuff. Tomorrow's tests will be more accurate though.

N1 Hi, I met you on another thread! Currantbun, also met you I think (can't remember the thread though) and Shanks - we may have babies around the same time.

Will remain with March 07 thread, but will pop in and day hello to you! Hope its going well for everyone and that morning sickness is starting to subside

Have DS 6 and DD 3 by the way.

Rubyandbeansmummy · 20/08/2006 11:12

Hi all -well my scan puts me at 14+2 which is 2+ weeks more than we thought - there was a bigger baby in there than we were expecting going by dd's 12wk scan. 2.5cm bpd seems huge.Keep thinking i can feel movements but wondering if I'm dreaming. So EDD now 16th Feb.

My sister's b'day is 17th Feb and she was a nightmare child and even worse teen so I'm praying that horoscopes are a load of rubbish!

Anyway love to all x
