For those of us due February 2007 and moving from the first to the second trimester ...

We've made it this far - only another 6 months to go! (Gulp!)

I bought a trespass fleece/ski jacket in costco for the bump. It's about 3 sizes bigger than I'd usually wear and not particularly attractive but it'll keep me warm and dry. And I'm not exactly a yummy mummy lol.

ChaCha · 06/11/2006 22:58

Evening ladies,

Not sure if you remember me, I'm due February 22nd with my second child. I haven't been able to post much as difficult to keep DS entertained while typing away up here on PC. Fortunately laptop working now and can log on more while he plays in 'his space'.

How is everyone? Too many posts to catch up properly but would love the latest on all your news.

Yes, wrap-around style cardigans are a great idea; have seen a couple I like. Am holding fire until my mum gets back from New York as she is also going to see what tops she can get hold of for me in Gap Maternity. I was planning to get a couple of plain white vest tops (probably maternity design) so I can wear a v-neck sweater over them and it won't matter if there's a bit of white showing between the bottom of the jumper and my trousers - don't want belly showing though!

As my bump isn't too big at the moment I am still fitting into my winter coat which I've had for about 4 years. It needs replacing and I'd planned to treat myself to a new one this winter, but will now leave it until next winter. If it gets too tight I'll have to wear it undone with a big scarf to keep me warm instead.

Some success! Cream swing style jacket from Tesco (non maternity) - wide at bottom to fit growing bump - and a mauve £10 jumper from there too (thank currantbun for mentioning those!)I can be warm again!

sorkycake · 08/11/2006 12:11

I'm still wearing my winter coat atm, but for how long is anyones guess. I have a very long wide and woolly scarf I treat myself too in Paris one year which is almost shawl like it's that big, so I gonna opt for same coat undone but with big scarf when the need arises.
I'm having some tests done atm because I'm jaundiced, but feeling fine, maybe a bit more tired on a morning but fighting fit other than that.
Cot has arrived but room isn't ready and I'm banned from decorating after electrocuting myself last week (long story, basically due to my stupidity), everything is fine with the bubba though. Bub is still breech, but bump is neat. I seem to have stopped growing as fast as everyone else who I know who is due around the same time has more than caught me up and crucially people have stopped cackling about it being twins.
Hope everyone is well, speak soon x

peachygirl · 08/11/2006 18:58

Hi all,
Sorky I hope they can get you sorted.
I saw the antenatal GP today. Everything fine, heart beat buzzing away.
I didn't ask lots of questions but he did ask me about the midwife as I have been asked to be seen elewhere. he felt it was better if all my care was in one place and I told him I didn't find her very warm and easy to talk to. Basically he has said he willl have words with ther about her attitude and has made me another appointment in 3 weeks and if I am still feeling the same way then I can again ask to change.

mummy2jake · 08/11/2006 20:25

hi all thought i better pop in with an update
im 27 weeks tomorrow bump is really showing now which im loving although its getting hard to keep it covered up.
been having lots of hospital visits lately as blood pressure kept going high, also have developed carpal tunnel syndrome which is getting very painful
had a growth scan last week and saw the baby yawning.
speak to you all soon xx

hairycaterpillar · 09/11/2006 10:27

Sympathies mummy2jake i had carpal tunnel very badly with first and 2nd pregnancies. This time I seem not too bad (so far) only get bother at the moment if on phone to long , driving or pushing buggy and sometimes at night it wakes me. Havent resorted to splints yet thopugh have dug them out from back of undies drawer!!

I'm 25 almost 26 wks now and feel massive. Also having coat dilemna, think I'll go for the open coatlook with massive scarf to keep me warm!

Felt a tiny foot today poking out at the top of my bump. Could just identify nobbly toes...was very painful as he/she was really pushing hard, but totally amazing as even third time round it's hard to believe there is actually a real baby in there!

TuttiFrutti · 09/11/2006 16:30

Having promised myself I'd buy no more maternity clothes this time, I went shopping this morning and bought 2 fabulous dresses from TopShop. Not maternity wear either, but as empire line and smock dresses are in fashion, I struck lucky and the normal dresses actually fitted me. One is gold, short and floaty for evenings and the other is a grey ribbed wool sweater dress. My bank balance will suffer for another month, but at least I'll feel feminine again!

Baby is really kicking now, although I haven't been able to identify any body parts yet like hairycaterpillar. I saw a photo once of a little foot poking through a pregnant tummy and it really freaked me out!

titchy77 · 10/11/2006 10:26

Hi all, hope all is well haven't been on for a while. am 26wks and really starting to show and baby is very active. At my scan got told the baby had some fluid on its kidneys and need to be re scanned at 36 wks, read some stuff on net that says this is a marker for downs, so got myself into a bit of a state, midwife says this is a marker for d/s but they use a lot of things as markers before they suspect its d/s and baby doesn't have excessive amount of fluid and if its still there at 36wks baby will have antibiotics when born, trying not to worry to much, it just seems ages till jan for the scan.

Tommy · 10/11/2006 10:52

poor you titchy - it's all a worry isn't it?

I'm feeling abit sorry for myself today. i thought I'd better do a bit of Xmas shopping yesterday and carried too much home with me and had a really achey tummy all evening. Taking it easy today but I feel really frustrated that i can't do all the things I really need to get on and do!

titchy77 · 10/11/2006 11:50

I know what you mean, I get really uncomfortable, it feels like my stomach cant stretch any more and i get brathless doing the smallest things, who knows how i'm going to get through labour!!

titchy77 · 10/11/2006 11:51

sorry meant breathless!

peachygirl · 10/11/2006 17:31

Hi all
titchy I get breathless too especoially at work and I know what you mean Tommy about doing too much.
I've been so tired recently and two evenings out in a week really does me in!
Should we start a new thread I was a bit shocked at the March ladies having one saying they are heading for the third trimester. I thought... 'hang on we are going to be there before them!'

MoosMa · 10/11/2006 19:13

I'm officially 3rd trimester tomorrow and think we deserve a new thread, most of us must be about there. Realised today that I have 99 days to go 'til EDD - hoorah, into double figures!

Have been feeling sorry for myself today too - had a busy week which included poor dh passing out and fitting in the dentist's chair on wednesday, also DD1 has being very demanding the last few days - very whiney and clingy with the teething. So I'm tired and worn out and feel like someone ought to be looking after me for a change!

BTW, very impressed with the Christmas shopping being done, I'm nowhere near!

suzi2 · 10/11/2006 20:01

Seems like we're all hitting the "I'm a beached whale" stage eh?

I've had a lot more energy the last couple of weeks so consequently I've been getting on with some reorganisation of the bedrooms. Hard work, especially since DS (15 months) likes to help lol. I've been really feeling sore and achey too. osteopath helps my back a lot but I've been doing too much lifting (boxes of books and DS) and am really feeling it. i only got my back 'fixed' on Sat and my next appointment isn't for another 2 wks...

Starting to struggle with DS as he's realised that he's finally faster than me. I walk over to him and sit on the floor with his jacket or shoes and he simply runs off. And then I have to muster the energy to get up and chase him. I'm now trying to catch him on the way past me for nappy changes etc but he's keeping out of arms reach lol.

Tommy · 10/11/2006 20:09

right - I'm going to start a new thread.......
