Hi Nessalina

Can I join in?

I'm 5weeks, due 21st Nov.

No nausea, just a few very mild cramps. Is anyone else getting mild cramps? I keep worrying that its not normal... Sad

I'm tempted to have a private scan at 8 weeks, is anyone else planning this? 12w just seems so far away!

Tigsy · 22/03/2014 18:38

Alpaca congratulations and welcome! Yes I'm having a private early scan at 7 weeks as it felt like too long to wait otherwise and I wanted to be sure there was a heartbeat before I told my parents and close friends. Scan is next week and glad we've got it booked as it's given me an earlier milestone to concentrate on

AlpacaYourThings · 22/03/2014 18:52

Thank you Tigsy Smile I'm still stunned!

I was thinking to book it in for when I am 8 weeks.

My mum knew something was up today and refused to talk about anything else until I confessed! Grin

I don't want anyone else to know at this stage. I just feel like its very early days.

MrsWombat · 22/03/2014 18:55

Alpaca, I've booked a private scan at 8 weeks, because 12 weeks is aaaaaaages away. It helps that the scanning place is a 5 min drive from my house, don't think I'd do it if I had to travel far. It's just for an extra bit of reassurance, as I work a lot with pregnant women and I'm very aware of how often things go wrong, so my brain is on overdrive. Confused

AlpacaYourThings · 22/03/2014 19:02

Oh good. I'm not the only one!

I'm such a worrier that this is driving me mad. Every twinge is making me nervous, and it's my first pregnancy so I'm not sure what is 'normal'.

Have you ever had an early scan before?

Ladymillion · 22/03/2014 19:46

Alpaca & MrsWombat I feel the same, first pregnancy and I am also verrrry nervous and anxious! Was thinking about booking an early scan but I had my scan date through the post today (so shocked seeing as my first midwife app was only yesterday!) and it's in 3 weeks time! I will only be around 10 weeks but seeing as they go by LMP they'll put me at 12-13 weeks. So having loooong cycles has aided my anxiety at last! Blush haha

Ladymillion, DC1, 6+4, EDD 12th Nov

AlpacaYourThings · 22/03/2014 20:06

Hello, Ladymillion 3 weeks, how exciting!

What was your first midwife appointment like?

Nessalina · 22/03/2014 20:15

Hi Alpaca & congrats! Grin
Yeah, I was dead against spending on an early scan, but 12 weeks is just so long to wait when the anxiety is killing me now!!

Thank you, Nessalina Grin congratulations to you too!

I know, but I need to find out if everything is ok.

Is anyone else having funny feelings in their uterus? It's almost like I can feel things happening. I hope that's not a bad sign though Sad

AlpacaYourThings · 22/03/2014 20:31

Oh good, likeaboss a fellow worrier! Grin

I'm going to have a private scan at 8 weeks as well, I've decided now! I'm 5 weeks too, so mine will be in 3 weeks as well.

Snook99 · 22/03/2014 21:11

Has anyone else had a vile taste yet? I can't even explain what it tastes like just YUK!!! Anyone have any advise to make it stop?? X

Ladymillion · 22/03/2014 21:12

Alpaca my appointment entailed filling out forms, providing urine sample (to test for protein or infections), recording my weight (Confused), height, blood pressure, providing medical history, family history, partners history and ethnicity and booking in for a blood test where they test for things like HIV, syphillis, sickle cell etc. I felt like a bit of a fraud actually as it still feels unreal. After the scan I think I'll feel more like a GENUINELY pregnant person haha

I was also referred to an obstetrician I think as my BMI is over 30? Apparently that's standard procedure as I'm more at risk of gestational diabetes and varicose veins.

My midwife was off sick so I had a stand-in midwife who was absolutely lovely! I only hope my midwife is as nice!

She also gave me a pregnancy pack with lots of info and leaflets inside, info about scans and screening (Down's syndrome etc) which has been really interesting! Apparently the 5 month scan which everyone associates with finding out the sex is nothing of the sort! It's actually a screening test for lots of disorders and abnormalities and the finding out the sex part may be an added bonus IF the hospital policy allows it! That was news to me haha maybe I am naive Blush

Baxter2014 · 22/03/2014 22:48

Hello ladies, Jeez this thread moves fast! Just marking my place. Terrible nausea today but only lasts an hour or so thankfully...

Nessalina · 22/03/2014 23:47

Lol, we're mostly worriers on here Alpaca ConfusedGrin
I think general uterussy not a word! feelings are pretty normal, there's a lot going on in there!
I've been getting a lot of lower belly twinges, but in most cases it's just been trapped wind Blush Digestive randomness is definitely my most significant symptom.
Also, my morning sickness is backwards! I'm fine in the morning, nothing til late afternoon when I start to feel ropey, then evening very nauseous! What's that about eh?

OP posts:
AlpacaYourThings · 23/03/2014 00:32

Ooh, that's interesting. Thank you LadyMillion

Ah, good to know Nessalina Smile

The only random thing that has happened to me is that I have one off the idea of sweets, chocolate and crisps and I usually like one or two tonnes bags a day.

MrsWombat · 23/03/2014 08:03

By the way at 8 weeks, your early scan is likely to be internal. Rather nervous about that, but the reassurance is more important. Smile

Northernexile · 23/03/2014 08:12

If it's an internal scan don't worry too much, they're ok. I had one last time at 7 weeks for pains which turned out to be a grumbling appendix Grin. Hoping for no drama with this one.

Tigsy · 23/03/2014 08:17

Morning sickness has really stepped up in past few days! Any tips? It is really bad as soon as I wake up. I've got crackers next to my bed and am trying to make myself eat a few when I wake up, so I've got something in my stomach, but didn't work today- I was sick 5 minutes later. Tried ginger biscuits too without success. In the day I'm finding eating little and often is best, but apart from setting my alarm to wake me up to eat during the night, not sure how to combat the first-thing nausea.

alita7 · 23/03/2014 08:27

anybody else have a lull in nausea at about 7 weeks?
felt ill yesterday morning and on the bus to town and then we treated the kids to McDonald's and apart from the odd bad smell moment, I've not really felt sick. I normally feel worse in the morning and evening/ middle of the night and it settles a bit in the middle of the day.
is it okay for it to go for a little bit?

Tigsy · 23/03/2014 08:38

Alita I think it's completely normal for symptoms to come and go. I think lots of us on here have noticed that.

alita7 · 23/03/2014 08:47

see Tigsy that's just what I'd say to anyone else but it's hard to believe for myself :p

maybe mac Donalds is just my wonder sickness cure :p

Amyrose82 · 23/03/2014 09:01

Hello newbies! Grin After a duff cheapie test from home bargains yesterday, just tried again with a tesco own and yep, still positive - phew! Still not much in the way of symptoms either so can't quite believe it's happening! Got my booking in appt with the MW on April 2 and broached the subject of an early scan with DH yesterday - am so tempted!

Also, on the subject of hair dye i've got a hairdressers appt on Thurs so am off to ask good old google for some more info... Oh and to play with the Chinese gender predictor! Grin

BexBoo12 · 23/03/2014 09:04

Alita, hope you don't mind me answering your question, I'm 16 weeks and nausea didn't arrive properly for me until about 10 weeks. I had bouts of nausea (mostly smell based) from only 4 weeks through to about 6, then it stopped. I was never actually sick. Then nausea returned properly Bout 10 weeks and is only in the evening. I can set my watch by it, about 8pm every night. But never any sickness. My symptoms were all over the place and it's completely normal for them to come and go xx

Barmy, how are you? Everything ok with you? X

alita7 · 23/03/2014 09:43

thanks bex that does help. It just worries me due to my mmc before.
It seems to be here a little bit now just not awful like it has been (though no actual vomiting just that feeling like you're about to, constantly)
It funny how much I wanted it to go for a bit at work yet now it's gone I want it back :p
