He everyone, I've just found out I'm pregnant, due towards the end of November. Dating from my last period, I'm about 4-5 weeks along. I've been having a few symptoms, including headaches, really tender breasts, lightheadedness and tiredness, and a runny nose, but I've also had period pain-type cramps for the last few days. I've found a couple of websites that say this is normal, but I'd be glad of some reassurance from other mothers-to-be! I'm so terrified of losing it. Thanks!

barmybunting · 23/03/2014 15:17

Hi everyone!

Annarose that early scan sounds like a good idea. 16 weeks is a very long time to wait!

Hi Bex, how are you? I hope your scan tomorrow goes well. I'm ok thanks Smile . I've spent the weekend alternating between bed and marking books, wild times here Wink ! I have developed a delightful cold on top of my lost voice, which doesn't seem to want to return yet, so I think I may be phoning in sick tomorrow if this continues.

Has anyone noticed their stomach making really odd noises and constantly feeling unsettled?

It's not like period cramps, more like when you've eaten something that you aren't happy about! It's driving me mad with the morning sickness- which like many of you, isn't morning sickness here. Seems to alternate between all day sickness and mainly afternoon/evening sickness depending on the day.

Someone asked about period type cramps. Yes, lots of us have mentioned them. Like parts of your stomach are pulling etc. It is apparently normal.

alita7 · 23/03/2014 18:25

wow just had tears in my eyes at a simpsons episode...

Moffit · 23/03/2014 18:30

Carmine I have had lots of cramps, keep expecting AF to turn up at any minute!! But apparently its completely normal, so try not to worry!

Hi all. I've been worrying about a drop in symptoms over the last few days - breasts are bit sore if squeezed but no constant throbbing, not really feeling ill any more, but am hugely bloated (look about 6 months gone!), waking early and feeling shattered so fingers crossed everything is ok. I keep testing and it still says positive - could I have lost the baby without bleeding and still show positive?
I'll be 6+1 tomorrow and will ring my doctor then. Didn't want to ring too early but now I'm desperate for an early scan! This is all so stressful. If I felt shit again I'd be happy! Madness.

CarmineRose1978 · 23/03/2014 19:06

Thanks, Moffit and barmy, that's really reassuring! It's all so scary! Smile

Annarose2014 · 23/03/2014 19:47

Selsigfach, I'm exactly the same with mc paranoia! Haven't felt too tired today and only vaguely sick so now of course I'm worried! Have had to give boobs a quick squeeze just for the reassuring "OWWW!!!"

In my case its definately from reading other forums where people had early scans and to their horror found nothing there and its all very sad. Am scaring myself silly and its all my own fault!!!

Oh and a word of advice ladies: do NOT venture into either the BFing or
Sleep sub-forums here yet - you'll freak yourself out so badly!!!

barmybunting · 23/03/2014 19:48

Carmine scary is indeed the word!

I am sitting looking at my cat just now, he is fast asleep on his radiator bed, looking like the happiest creature in the world! DH and I often joke that we would like to be the cat, as he is spoiled rotten and has a lovely life. Right now, I would give absolutely everything to be the cat for the next few weeks (hoping this horrible nausea disappears within a few weeks) just so I could stay at home and sleep for hours like he does!

Getyourflipflopson · 23/03/2014 19:50

selsigfach I'm in a similar boat to you! I'm six weeks pregnant today, and have absolutely no symptoms! Apart from the very vivid dreams. It is a bit worrying, isn't it? My other two pregnancies weren't like this at all.

AlpacaYourThings · 23/03/2014 20:24

Is anyone going to buy a Fetal Doppler? I'm really tempted to buy one for after my 8 week scan.

Horispondle · 23/03/2014 20:25

Hi everyone!
I'm 5+1 due 22nd Nov. Have DD age 3, was TTC for approx 1 year, have had 2 chem pg both at 4+5 so I'm relieved I've made it past that milestone! Kind of too scared to phone for booking in appt since last two times I've had to cancel a few days later.
Have had plenty symptoms, feeling reassuringly crappy!
Just wonder if anyone else is struggling with moods? I've had full on hormonal rage this weekend and made for a miserable weekend in our house! I'm still seething with DH for going on a bike ride on his own leaving me with an inconsolable DD who wanted to go with her Daddy!
It comes and goes but when Im angry it's the angriest I can ever remember being!

alita7 · 23/03/2014 20:40

alpaca I really want to get one but with my retroverted uterus it's so unlikely I'd hear it, I'd just freak myself out...

last poster (Sorry forgot yoyour name and on phone app so I can't see the post while I'm typing) i also frequently feel the angriest EVER but then realise the next morning that it was over nothing at all ;p

Nessalina · 23/03/2014 20:44

Hey to the new folks! Smile
mxmum - OMG twins! Grin How exciting! One of my best friends has just had twin boys and they are the cutest.
Horis - I am very ragey if I get myself wound up Blush I'm ok most of the time, but I can really get a rage going if I want to - trying to rein it in!!

AlpacaYourThings · 23/03/2014 21:03

Yes, probably best you don't then alita7. We are worrying enough already! Smile

annatha · 23/03/2014 21:14

Hello ladies, please can I join in?

I'm due on Nov 4th, this is my first pregnancy and I keep going from being incredibly excited to being terrified that something will go wrong. So far I've had sore boobs, nausea (but not actually throwing up yet) and awful moodswings.

How's everyone coping at work? I'm really struggling trying to work while feeling like I'm going to be sick, but seeing as I haven't actually BEEN sick yet I feel like I'm moaning about nothing...

AveryJessup · 23/03/2014 21:24

Yes, barmy, I'm the same. I have constant gas and rumbling and a queasy feeling after eating like the food was gone off or something... veering between being starving and then feeling like I ate bad food...

But we're all so anxious on this thread! A friend of mine has kids 10 years older than my DS and in my second pregnancy when I was strung out with anxiety about it going wrong again, she said to me 'the worry never stops, no matter what age they are, so you might as well stay calm and put the bad thoughts out of your mind'. Good advice... hard to follow though Grin

I still worry myself daft about DS breaking his neck at the playground or walking out in front of a car or choking on something. I was just watching a film yesterday with a scene where teenagers sneak out to go joyriding and I thought to myself 'DS is never going to be allowed to drive a car, not until he's at least 30!!'.

alita7 · 23/03/2014 21:38

dear god avery, what have we let ourselves in for :p a life of worry!!!! well worth it though I'm sure.
I guess worrying about a temporary decrease in symptoms is a bit like when our little ones don't answer their phones in 15 years time, they'll probably be just fine but it worries the life out of you!

alita7 · 23/03/2014 22:16

right girls, next time I complain of missing nausea tell me to shut up and enjoy it ... now its back in full swing and I want a break again :p there's no pleasing some people!

AveryJessup · 23/03/2014 22:33

Ha ha, good analogy alita. It really is like that! Especially in later pregnancy when the kicking starts. I used to panic if I didn't feel DS kicking for a while and then I'd be woken up at 4am by DS doing his Jackie Chan manoeuvres and feel ridiculous for ever having worried...

Tigsy · 24/03/2014 09:28

How are we all doing today? I'm really struggling with the morning sickness. Same pattern every day- I wake up, eat some crackers and drink something (keeping them next to me bed) and within half an hour I'm in the bathroom throwing up! Today's my first day at work since the sickness really hit (as was on leave last week) and unfortunately my office is the furthest from the toilets!
On the plus side, got my early scan on Saturday so not long to go until that Smile

AussieGoingHomeSoon · 24/03/2014 09:52

Hi all, Welcome to all the new joiners & Congratulations !

Glad to hear lots of reassuring scans for those who were worried, I'm very jealous, no scan for me till 1 May which is sooooo far away !! Can't wait as we wont announce to anyone till after scan.

Well I'm still pretty symptom-less just a slight bit of nausea at some part of the day & feeling a bit rounded towards the evening, which didnt happen before till about 7-8months.

I've been feeling really calm & relaxed this time, I am a pretty calm person generally but of course had lots of nerves the 1st baby & still had some 2nd baby but feeling oddly "zen" this time.

I've got a meeting with my boss & HR tomorrow to discuss my returning back to work schedule in May, they want to change my days but I told them can't work Fridays & I'm sure they r going to fight me over it ! So feeling very nervous about it especially as my boss is a total evil nightmare & I have to go back so I get my maternity leave again, which I obviously will be keeping quiet about for now.

Anyone know if they can basically say work Fridays or no job ? I work 3 days a week & have offered to do 4 days Mon-Thurs just not Fridays, & even said if I have childcare in Sept (daughter hopefully starts her free nursery hours) will change then. I hate confrontation & feel like it will be 2 of them ganging up on me Hmm

Annarose2014 · 24/03/2014 09:59

I would tell them about the pregnancy. I could be wrong but they can't threaten you that much if you're pregnant. They caertainly can't fire you or increase your hours.

I've already told work (hospital so its an infectious environment - I had to) and I'm glad as they've already been going much easier on me.

ElleOhElle · 24/03/2014 10:02

hello, can I join? I'm 7+5 due 7/11 I think!
sorry to all those who've had bad news at early scans - I'm so scared of a mmc - no date for booking in scan yet.
feeling nauseous all the timeConfused

ElleOhElle · 24/03/2014 10:02
