Anna rose what do you mean by antenatal appointment? A scan, a harmony type thing or a midwife booking in appointment? If it's a harmony thing you won't hear back for a week or so and if it's a booking in appointment then they won't do anything to give you good or bad news, the worst you'll hear on the day is a urine infection. She'll do bloods and you won't hear back for those for about a week.

chirpchirp · 04/04/2014 17:10

Hi everyone, really sorry to read about the losses and spotting some of you have had in the last few days. I hope you are feeling ok and taking it easy.

I had my first appointment with my midwife today and it's the same one as last time which is great because she's lovely.

Mentioned my anxiety having recently miscarried and the stomach pains I keep getting. She was lovely and reassuring however said early scans are only automatically offered to those who have suffered two or more miscarriages. She said I could request one however I then wouldn't be offered one at 12 weeks. As I'm still feeling constantly nauseous I feel everything is ok so will just wait it out.

DS(3) came with me to the appointment and is very excited at the prospect of being a big brother. The chances of this being a secret for much longer are pretty slim as he has already told three complete strangers that "mummy has a baby in her belly"! I've tried to explain the concept of it being a secret but he just tells them it's a secret ok!

See the midwife again in a couple of weeks for the "making sure you don't live in a crack den" appointment and then a few weeks after the exciting first scan.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

PosyFossilsShoes · 04/04/2014 17:20

Grin @ "making sure you don't live in a crack den"

Mucho hilarity at the hospital yesterday when (out of boredom, during the 90 minute wait to be seen) we were flicking through the huuuuuuge wad of notes and one of the questions was "Do you want your baby to be given Vitamin K immediately after birth?"

My first reaction was YOU EVIL FIENDS YOU CAN'T DO THAT TO BAYBEES before pausing and thinking perhaps Vitamin K has other meanings besides being a common name for ketamine.

alita7 · 04/04/2014 17:27

Posy I felt like that when she told me due to living where I do my baby would need a TB jab after birth- I had the TB jab late as they didn't offer it at school but when I started nursing I needed it and it was not a nice experience, I do not want my poor baby having that :( so I'm in two minds as it's better than TB, but it's not nice for a baby!

barmybunting · 04/04/2014 17:40

Random sorry to hear about the situation with your cousin. I totally understand your anger. You are very strong through all of it.

blamber glad all was ok at the scan today! That gp sounds much more clued up.

alita and bjzebra sorry to hear about the spotting. Have either of you managed to see anyone about it today? Any changes with it?

I had a bit of red spotting this morning but it stopped fairly quickly. My next period would be around now so it's probably linked to that.

My scan date came through today, 12 May. Annoyingly, that's the day DH leaves to go away with work for a week so I'm going to try to phone the antenatal bunch on Monday to see if I can bring it forward to the week before. I really don't want to go without DH. I don't want to go the week after that as I'll be 14 weeks by then and too late for the other tests at the same time. Is it called the NT test I think? Hopefully I'll be able to change it!

Happy weekend everyone. I've just finished school here for the end of term, yay for Easter holidays!! Off to Ireland on Sunday to tell DH's parents. Smile

Sazhoopz · 04/04/2014 18:00

Not been on for a while, everything seems to be going fine so far (goes finds the nearest bit of wood) although I have got a horrible cold which means by the end of the day I'm extra tired

Alita DS had his bcg jab at around 6 weeks and he didn't seemed to mind it that much, but the blister later on was horrible! Think jabs are always worse for parents than the kids

WinterLover · 04/04/2014 21:21

I've been on one yesterday and today. Have not stopped all day. Our bedroom tends to be a holding place for junk that has nowhere to go. It was a tip. Well not anymore Grin eveything is away, DSD's room is extremely tidy, 4 loads of washing put away, tea cooked, pots washed and away all while I had DS at my ankles.

happypotamus · 04/04/2014 22:12

I am absolutely exhausted (not in bed yet as waiting for hair to dry enough). This week I worked 2 nightshifts with not much sleep in between then did a 8hr teambuilding sort of thing the day after finishing the nights. Ill DD was awake 4.30-6am that day and I never got back to sleep, and she woke at 6am today which is 2hrs earlier than normal. Both of us were much too tired and miserable today. I have been feeling less sick though expect following the 12hr nightshift in which I had time to sit down for about 30mins and ate one sandwich.
I've still not heard from the midwife. The way it works here is that you see the GP to let them know you are pregnant and he or she does a referral to the community midwife. That was almost 3 weeks ago now, and she definitely said she would still do the referral as well as arranging for me to be seen at the hospital about the bleeding and not knowing how pregnant I was. According to the scan the hospital did then, I am will be 10 weeks on Tuesday, so really could do with seeing her. I don't know if it will be possible to get a 12 week scan on time with only 2-3 weeks left. I don't know how I can chase the midwife appointment up either, as she isn't based at the GP surgery and I don't have contact details for her as I've not met her yet ( it might be the same one I saw last time I was pregnant, but that was 3yrs ago so I don't have contact numbers anymore).

alita7 · 04/04/2014 23:36

happy chase that up you're meant to be seen by 10+ 5 at the latest I think.
I am now pretty sure my spotting is cervical.

does anyone else have super crusty nipples. yellow crusty stuff is in the little dips in the round bit (more than normal, had a little bit constantly since mmc) and it is now collecting round the base of the nipple! I accidentally discovered colostrumy stuff would squirt out of my boobs a few days after my mmc when I squeezed my boob accidentally while inspecting yellowy nipples. then I could make a few table spoons come out but over time it dried up and at first on the pill it only came out when I would normally ovulate then it went completely. when I came off the pill I was surprised to find a little bit would come out again.
so is this dried up colostrum already?

nogeybose · 05/04/2014 01:01

Hi all. I'm new to this forum, so please be patient with me :) Due on November 8 with second child. Have you all had your booking-in appts? I'm on week 9 and feel as though I'm wishing the weeks away until we get to scan stage. Also, I'm sure this gut of mine is too big to only contain a 9wk-old baby!

MrsWombat · 05/04/2014 07:12

Sorry for the ladies with sad news. SadThanks

Welcome nogeybose!

Was at work yesterday and one of my collegues was highly suspicious I hadn't had a coffee all day, when I said yes to her offer of an afternoon one (to keep me awake) but didn't have a cup to clean. Grin Put my jeans on last night and thought oooh that's strange! Might have trouble doing them up soon! I do have a bit of a belly pre pregnancy cake but that normally fits over the top of my jeans. Might have to go in to the loft to get some maternity clothes down. Although I've gone up a size since last time.... Did buy some tops on ebay after my early scan though. 8+3

We will need a new thread soon. Suggestions for a new tag line?

WinterLover · 05/04/2014 07:23

mrswombat I had only just got back into my size 10's since having DS...They're now back in the drawer and my 12's are out although they're getting uncomfortable now.

WinterLover · 05/04/2014 07:23

oooo im 9+4 today Grin

barmybunting · 05/04/2014 09:01

Hi noseybose!

How are those of you waiting for epu checks etc this morning?

I am so happy to see Saturday this week!

Has anyone else had to buy new bras yet? I think I'm going to have to give in and buy some today. I've always worn underwired bras though, are you not meant to in pregnancy for some reason? I'm usually a 36 B/C so small in the first place and I'm not sure if that changes whether it needs to be non wired or not.

barmybunting · 05/04/2014 09:02

nogey, sorry, not nosey! Smile

MrsWombat · 05/04/2014 09:28

I had to go and get some maternity bras. Except M&S don't do maternity ones in my new size so had to get maternity/nursing bras with the clips! Will have a proper look online later on. But it's good to have bras that fit and aren't underwired.

chirpchirp · 05/04/2014 10:41

I haven't bought new bras yet but did consider nipping into the toilets at work the other day and ripping the underwire out of the one I was wearing as it was so uncomfortable.

alita7 · 05/04/2014 11:27

morning :)

I've been out of normal jeans since 5 weeks as I didn't like the tightness around baby area even though they did up.

I'm worried for today as we're going out for a meal for mils birthday. We were going to a Chinese buffet but they've closed. so now we're deciding where to go and I'm very worried I'm not going to be able to eat anything where ever we go :/ or that I'll feel like I'm about to vomit in the middle of it and go obviously green. Hmph if people knew they wouldn't think I was just be awkward when dp suggests a burger bar and I nearly cry :p I can't even not go it's her birthday meal :/

WheresMrMonkey · 05/04/2014 11:47

Goodluck Alita, hate family events in the first trimester, sometimes the anxiety of feeling sick is worse than the reality. Have lots of parties to attend with Dd this month and dread them all! So much easier when you can tell people

WheresMrMonkey · 05/04/2014 11:49

And I dropped out on a friends 30th meal last night for the exact same worries, feel like such a dreadful person, just couldn't handle it. Hope she understands when I tell her the truth

alita7 · 05/04/2014 11:54

oh monkey it's so hard isn't it. I wish I could drop out but the whole family is being picked up from my home to go to this meal so I can't exactly ring up sick :/ I'm sure your friend will understand!
I can't even tell them as DP is adamant we can't yet. but they are so going to notice when the menu almost reduces me to tears (as tescos does when I have to pick lunch and I'm starving but literally everything makes me gag ...)

happypotamus · 05/04/2014 12:07

A letter has just dropped through my letter box from the hospital about my first antenatal appointment and scan. I went to write the date in my diary and realised it was booked for yesterday! They only posted the letter this week and sent it second class so surely there was a high chance I wouldn't get it before the appointment. Now I am pissed off. Sadly there is no one here to vent to except 2yr old DD, who didn't seem very concerned when I told her!! I have no idea where DH is actually, and we should have left 5mins ago for nephew's birthday party (where I shall probably have to pretend to drink wine).

chirpchirp · 05/04/2014 14:25

Oh that's frustrating happy, hope you manage to get another date sorted soon.

My sickness has taken another giant leap for the worse today too. Had to leave a committee meeting early as I was sick in the bin and now I'm feeling sorry for myself camped on the sofa with a blanket and Netflix. DH and DS are away to lunch with BIL and FIL, I've sent my excuses as can't face any food.

I'm now choosing food based on what I can face and more importantly what's not going to be too bad coming back up as it is now inevitable that I will see it again.

WheresMrMonkey · 05/04/2014 14:39

The food thing is so difficult. Can just about cope when alone but anything social is just a nightmare.
I'm finding it really tricky getting food prepared for Dd now too

alita7 · 05/04/2014 15:30

The meal did not go well. His mum wanted to go to a carvery that had nothing but roasts, I can't eat meat atm and I hate things like Quorn and nut roast.

I had a plate and only ate veg and potato. However I can't really stomach veg either and ended up puking in the toilet.

my first proper chunder of the pregnancy... I think it's because I've been very careful to only eat what my belly thinks it can cope with on any given day but today I had to force feed it what it didn't want.
